I really don’t like when people call Matt and Foggy doomed by the narrative.
“Doomed by the narrative” ships involve a sense of inevitably, like it was always going to happen. Their tragedy plays out in a way that can’t be avoided, like destiny, and it typically serves a narrative purpose in its inevitability.
That is not Matt and Foggy’s story. In fact, it has always been the opposite of that.
Matt and Foggy weren’t doomed by the narrative. They were doomed by terrible writing, terrible choices, a horrendous amount of disrespect for both source materials, and a refusal to learn from mistakes.
