So this isn’t my usual content by far but hey, look what I did. I’ve been playing Baten Kaitos with @dragongirl218 lately and I decided to take a closer look at the character models… But they were pretty much impossible to get out from the files and afaik nobody’s ever done that.
So instead I ripped Kalas’ model myself, reassembled it from something like 50 pieces, did some basic improvements to the mesh and added normal maps to give him some more dimension and detail. He’s not rigged yet but he will be when I get around to it.
Here’s a quick render, then a pic of the model right after reassembling, a comparison of the mesh itself before and after my fixes, and then the model as it is right now in its base unrendered state.
OP, how did you manage this!? I have been looking for a way to rip character models from Dolphin for ages! (Pretty much ever since 3D printing was a thing I’ve wanted to print 3D models of BK characters and hand paint them.) Would you be willing to share your method and/or your 3D model files?
