Deep within myself.

As if my weight ever carried the current you rushed at me.

I fled,

Shoot it down.

Stone cold,

I think

as I approach you in awe.

I refuse to turn, half faced

Two times slept with smoke.

Diving into truth,

A plague of lies

shoot me down.

Snaking through your grin

Licking gums

Give me cover from your furrowed brow.

Forgive me in advance

Leave a number

I will always hide, but watch with an instinctual tongue.

Under the thick blanket of the night sky

Where my foot steps are lost behind me

Where I am licked by the light of the moon

The path ahead of me unknown eases my mind

I am tired of knowing

Resting my skin needle deep in shrubbery

I let it run blood

They say I will become lighter

Dry dirt in my mouth,

I savor it

My bedroom walls seethe with thought

Hiss with regret

I prefer grit between my teeth

I’ve lost all pens in the sand

Through my fingers

They slip like water

Rushing away as fast as it threw itself at me
