Finis was mute, and their husband wasn't inconsiderate of this, but he was a little forgetful. So, they'd been standing here for five minutes tapping their foot impatiently as they waited for Tal to tell them if he'd be going on the flight today or not, wishing they could shout for him to come down or at least turn to look at their hands.

Too many days passed like this: they went on a walk, Tal met up with the flock, he went on a flight while a dozen birds that still had their college bodies fawned all over him.

And Finis had had enough.

“What's all this about?” Tal smiled as he took a seat at the overladen dinner table. “Am I forgetting some holiday? It's not Thanksgiving, it's April.” He eyed the full turkey on the table with bemusement.

Finis, dressed rather promiscuously for someone who had been slaving over a stove all day, giggled and shook their head.

Does there need to be a special reason for me to cook for my special guy? they signed.

Tal blushed. “I guess not.”

Finis pushed his plate closer and filled up his wine glass to the top with an innocent smile.

Finis was a wizard in the kitchen, they specialized in baking but they were great at cooking too and enjoyed doing it. The only thing they enjoyed more than cooking was watching Tal's waistline expand from their cooking.

“Ah… guess I've been eating too good…” Tal chuckled sheepishly as pants failed to button over a humble little gut.

No such thing as too good. Finis held a croissant to his mouth and smiled as Tal hesitantly but inevitably took a bite.

The next time Tal went for a flight with the flock, he ended up a panting, sweaty mess.

“Phew-! Wow…” he gasped for breath, doubling over as he landed. “Guess that was… phew… a hard one today. Winds. Yep. Winds were strong.”

“Uh… sure,” one of the avians chuckled, eyeing up Tal's sagging gut.

Tal blushed and cleared his throat, and Finis smirked at how the younger avians giggled at their husband instead of flirting with him.

At home, Tal didn't try to deny it as much with lies about the wind.

“I think I've had enough-” he sheepishly tried to refuse a bite as Finis brought the fork to his mouth.

Finis shook their head with a smile and temptingly brought the fork close enough to Tal's face that he could smell the hot, delicious food.

Tal groaned, his stomach aching, protesting, and gurgling, and accepted the bite. “Fuck me, you're too good a cook…”

I know. Finis patted his belly, subtly measuring Tal's growth. Hopefully he'd be a grounded chubby birdy soon…

Seconds became thirds, thirds became fourths, fourths became snacks between every meal and snacks between every meal became one unending meal all day long. Finis made sure Tal's mouth was never empty, and giggled as they watched his athleticism and flirtatious attitude quickly shift into lethargy and sheepishness.

“Wait for me!” Tal called to the flock, passing his ice cream cone to Finis.

Finis took it and watched Tal's little wings with a devilish smile.

Well, it's not that his wings were little, they were actually quite big, but at his current size Tal's round body made his wings look positively itty bitty.

He flapped them, straining and turning red as he huffed and puffed.

He tried to do a little hop, he beat his wings extra hard, but no matter what he did he couldn't get off the ground.

Poor baby, don't tire yourself out, Finis held the ice cream cone to Tal's lips, and Tal's eyes went glassy as he took a break from catching his breath to have a lick.

It was amazing, no more flying off and flirting, and even better there soon wasn't even much leaving the house. Finis had Tal's full attention and affection, and he had so much affection to give lately.

He'd whine and gasp out “I love you” as Finis fed him near to bursting, he'd hug Finis from behind and let them sink into his softness as he nuzzled the back of their neck, he'd playfully beg for their attention and for scraps as they cooked.

“Can you pass me more of the potatoes?” Tal asked, rubbing his gut indulgently and stifling a burp.

Finis nodded, scooping a heaping portion of mashed potatoes onto his plate, covering them with corn, and then drowning it all in gravy.

“I'm the luckiest man alive,” Tal groaned happily, struggling a little to sit up and pull his plate closer, and as he sat up his face moved in such a way it revealed a third chin making an appearance.

Don't you ever forget it, Finis signed.

Soon, they spent every minute of the day together, Tal clinging close and Finis feeding him well, it was everything Finis had wanted, and the results were amazing...

It's a beautiful day, remember when you used to go flying on days like this? Finis signed after opening the curtains.

“Hm?” Tal was having breakfast in bed, struggling to reach around his titanic belly to the breakfast tray. “Oh yeah, today would be a great day for a flight!”

He started making straining sounds, and it took Finis a moment to realize he was trying to get up.

“Help?” He whined, making grabby hands.

Finis took his hands and pulled, then pulled harder, then started making strained sounds themself as they braced their feet against the bedframe and tried to use their own weight to pull Tal up.

“Fi- Finis-” Tal gasped, out of breath despite not even really moving. “I don't think- I don't think I can fly, I can't even get up! I think it's time I went on a diet…”

No, no, no! Rather than point out the fact he hadn't been able to fly in months, Finis hurried downstairs, returning with a big coconut cream cake.

Their hands were full, so they couldn't sign and try to tempt Tal, but it turned out they didn't need to.

As they approached with the cake Tal began to whine and make little excited sounds.

He made grabby hands and started to wiggle, fat rippling and jiggling, as his almost hidden wings flapped with delight at the sight of more food.

Finis’s heart pounded. They realized if they kept this up, they'd probably end up with a husband too fat to move and too spoiled to think for himself.

They blushed, and they smirked.

here's my intro + chapter 1, i tried to make my characters more feisty and do more bickering, can't wait to see where this leads me, i hope you like them! (oh and title ideas are welcome, as is the grammar police, as usual)
