“Really? I almost think it’s easier? I mean if you don’t know who you are, then you’re like a blank canvas, right? You can be anyone you want to be and try out a whole bunch of things till you find the ones that stick for you. But, when you know who you are at your core, it’s not so easy to shake,” Sabrina said as if talking from experience. “Never wanted to actually pursue any of them?” She asked curiously, not exactly one to talk seeing that she ran from pretty much anyone remotely good in her life up until Rick. “I mean, hey, if it will make the questions stop, then- Please and thank you.”

“To be honest, I’d laugh at your pain too so you’re damn right about that.” Roni chuckled. “See that’s the thing I was attracted to him when he was broody and mysterious. Now he’s less mysterious and there’s something about that man being the epitome of comfortable and relaxed and with his dogs and family that I find even more attractive.” Roni laughed. “But he felt the hair though. Honestly, I come with more baggage than it’s probably acceptable to have. I live with my daughter’s father. I have a three year old. I’m a werewolf. I’ve done horrible things. My parents used to chain me up. I’ve got daddy issues. And yet he still wants to be with me.” 

“Gotta love those bad boys, right?” Sabrina laughed. “And... now I’m suddenly very happy that Rick was not a werewolf when I first met him. No offense,” She said, shaking her head at the thought. “I mean no arguments here? And this is coming from the cripple who was living out of an RV when I first met my now boyfriend. Oh! And whose dad used to beat the living shit out of her. Welp, before I ran him over with the van that is.”

“Exactly, baby,” he said softly, a tone he didn’t know he had until he met this woman before him. His hand reached out caressing her cheek. “Just you is all I need.” If Rick had ever imagined a perfect partner, it would have been her. Not just her insanely beautiful everything, but that personality. That snarky, broody, bitchy beauty. She was incredible and she let him be just him, without question. And instantly, his guard was down with her. He couldn’t say exactly what it was that had drawn him to her. But he loved her much more than he had ever loved anyone romantically. Rick frowned when she mentioned traditions and expectations. “There aren’t any traditions or expectations that I’m attached too. Songbird, I’ve imagined marriage before. Back when I was a wolf, and it wasn’t glamorous. It was in a clearing, surrounded by other wolves. And it was only going to ever be for the good of keeping the pack going. And when I wasn’t a wolf anymore, I didn’t think about marriage. Then I met you, and we don’t need tradition. We don’t need expectations. I just want you and a ceremony. That can look like anything. You don’t have to throw a bouquet, Or walk down the aisle. We can make it whatever we want. A happy medium between us. You don’t have to be anything you’re not, and the whole idea of a wife? My version of that is just you, baby. And I want you to wear whatever you’re comfortable in, and personally I find you sexy in anything.” 

“You’re such a dork, you know that?” Sabrina let out a soft laugh, rolling her eyes lightly over at him and leaning into his touch as he reached up to caress her cheek. She knew she had snark for days, was difficult and broody and pretty much as bitchy as they come- besides maybe Gigi. And yet, when she was with him, she couldn’t help, but feel lighter. Her bark had less bite and what would normally be an insult shifted into her own endearing way of saying that she loved him. “Didn’t you think of marriage when you proposed to that guy you told me about before?” She pointed out, with a knowing look. “Or was that part of your wolf duty too? But... okay. Okay! If it is out in the middle of the woods, if I get to stand at the front of the aisle and have you give yourself away to me, and if we can limit the people there- I mean it, no inviting the whole set just because we work with them but can’t actually stand them bullshit- then yeah. We can talk about wedding stuff and maybe even get excited about it,” She said with a scrunch of her noise. She couldn’t believe she was agreeing to it- the whole big ceremony and everything. But, then again, she had never been able to resist that face he gave her for long. “And don’t write off the throwing a bouquet just yet. I kinda like the idea of chucking something. Even though you really shouldn’t have said that. I was this close to squeezing myself into some lacy white dress for you, but if you’re fine with anything, I might just show up in board shorts now and a Hawaiian shirt. Throw off your whole aesthetic,” She joked, a playful grin tugging at the corner of her lips as she pressed a kiss against her man’s cheek.

“Yes, our Jackie, but when’s the last time she’s had to deal with complete and total devastation sober? And believe me, right now not only is she probably devastated, but her body…our body really has a taste for alcohol. I ain’t a drinker but I’ll be damned if I don’t want quite a few drinks right about now.” It felt as though Jackie had just left her in a mess. A complete and utter mess, one that she didn’t want to be the dominant personality of. She pulled out her compact. “She can hear us. Jack, Sabrina say ‘you jump, I jump’. And I’m really scared Jackie. I know it’s hard and I know this body is craving a drink. Don’t make me take over.” She sighed. “The sad part is, I knew her intentions were good when she signed up. And it just blew up in her face just before her album launch and getting this passion part of her career goin’. I don’t know how she’s gonna recover from this.” 

“Oh I don’t know. She handled Pride pretty fucking well and I got my leg bit off then. Unless you don’t think her best friend almost dying counts as devastating enough?” Sabrina pointed out with a shrug. “And she’ll do it because she’s Presley and she has to. Look, I get it. You’re scared and you’re worried about her. But, it seems to me that Jackie coming out is out of your control, so what else can we do, but trust her?” Brina said softly, giving Heather’s chin a light nudge, before taking a step back and saying so that the compact could hear. “Now, if we’re both going to die today, I should grab a knife and a bucket. This might get messy. Anything you want to do before Jack ends it all for the both of us?”

“You’re just going to laugh at my pain like this is a Kevin Hart special I see,” she joked. “Sadly yes. I tried so hard not to be. I’ve only said the L word once and I have never uttered it again though. I could probably go the rest of my life not saying it again. He probably is but I just don’t see it. Even though I’m also kind of broody or well maybe angry not broody.” Roni laughed. “Well, you’re right about that he probably did know. Even though he totally held my hand and kissed me when I stuck in between human and wolf and was very hairy. I knew in that moment that he was going to be trouble for my heart.” 

“Duh. What are friends for?” Sabrina grinned. “I get it. That’s like me and Rick to a T. To me, my boyfriend is an overly affectionate goofball ray of sunshine. Now anyways. When we first met, he was brooding and stand off-ish which was probably part of what attracted me to him to begin with,” She admitted, smiling at the thought. “And I mean I wouldn’t give him too much credit. It’s not like he could actually see you like that, but I get what you mean. When a guy is still into you after he watched your leg get brutally torn off, you know he’s the one.”

“I wish I could, but I can’t. Childhood traumas and the like. Not that it matters to you, but when the sole two people tasked with taking care of you are the very ones that break your trust, like and shatter your entire sense of self, questioning everything I the best route to go. Because nothing is ever truly what it seems. People lie. And it’s very rare that honesty is anyone’s first thought.” Beau shrugged. “I actually don’t care. It was simply a way to start chatting with you. And being a human, immersing myself into supernatural dealings, and even having slightly crushed on a supernatural or two, it was interesting. But since you wish for the end of the conversation, have a nice day?” 

“Girl, you’re talking to the queen of childhood trauma. You don’t need to tell me about a shattered sense of self or how we’re all just a bunch of liars. Some better than others. I know. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t change who you are. Doesn’t mean it’s easy, but not impossible if you really want it,” Sabrina said with a shrug herself. “Slightly crushed? Care to elaborate?” Sabrina asked with a raised brow. “I wasn’t ending the conversation. Just that particular topic. But, cool. See ya later. Or not.”

“I mean it’s not condescending. I have cute and adorable daughters too. And an adorable son. And I don’t find Noah cute or adorable, and I’ve never spoken to Damien in my life. But I do find that one security guy cute and adorable but we’re not on those kinds of speaking terms. And the guy Dave or Josh or the one I keep compelling to forget me? Gigi’s boyfriend. He’s adorable. But we also don’t talk, so of course you don’t hear those things.” Grant rolled his eyes at the mention of Valentine. “Yeah…you’re dating the enemy I try to forget that. But live it is.” He pulled out his phone and pulled up his account. “Hey, it’s been a long while Instagram, but I’ve got a special guest with me and I don’t know what we’re actually going to do besides say hello, maybe answer a few questions if they’re good ones. But I’ve got Sabrina with me today.” He moved the phone so that Sabrina was in the frame. He watched as the live numbers climbed with people tuning in. 

“Kinda is? Your son is a baby and your daughters are- Whoa, hold up. You’d go up to Dom, to his face and tell him you find him adorable? Not attractive or sexy or handsome, but adorable? The same adorable as your baby? And that seems right to you?” Sabrina asked with a raised brow. “Do you find yourself adorable too? Is that just your go to word for finding people attractive or something? And I’m dating your what now? You know what- I don’t even want to know,” She shook her head, side eyeing Grant as she watched him take out his phone to start live streaming. “Sup?” Sabrina said with a shrug as she glanced over at the phone in his hand.

“I actually hate being a curious person. But it was how I was raised, questioning everything and everyone. I’m not delving into it like it is my business? It’s out there in the public. I was just curious about the happily ever afters and such. But doesn’t matter I’m not that invested. Oh if I could I’d get the best of the best,” she assured. 

“Then why don’t you do something about you? I mean just because it’s how you were raised, doesn’t mean you to be that way?” Sabrina said with a shrug. “If it’s out there and public knowledge, then why are you asking me about it? What? You don’t know how to work google? And cool. But, this is my life and not a movie? And last time I checked, I’m not dead, so there is no after or end of story as of yet. Just a during. But, there you go then. If you were in my shoes, you’d probably end up with some fancy leg too. That boyfriend you’re so curious about got it for me. Me loosing a leg sort of freaked him out.” And her for that matter, but loosing a limb would do that to you.

“I feel like I bump into so many damn people that my sister flirts with or sleeps with. Actually yeah I’d love it if you showed me how to do some damage with my fists. I don’t want to be the reason we fuck around and die. That sounds like a plan. Verbal assault is my specialty.” 

“Yeah, well, Jack’s easy to flirt with. That and we’re horny bunch. I’m honestly surprised there hasn’t been a set orgy yet with the amount of people here who are constantly hooking up with each other. We’d flirt with you too, you know? If we got to see that pretty face of yours more often. And yeah, sure. I can show you. Just name the time and the place.”

“I don’t know if I’ll ever laugh about it but he thought it was funny as it was happening. But I love watching him smile or laugh so…I guess it was worth it.” She rolled her eyes at herself. “I sound so sappy. But I get that. Like we exist together and it’s just great. We accept each other for who we are no other expectations. I’ve never been excited to climb into bed with someone and just talk or just exist until it’s weird and scary and incredible all at the same time.” Roni gad to laugh when she called Hale broody. “You know he’s not as broody when I’m with him. And when he’s with his family…man he’s in rare form. Yes but he didn’t know that initially I was hot. He knows now.”

“I mean I’m finding it pretty funny now, I’m not gonna lie,” Sabrina told her with a hint of a grin. “You’re really head over heels for him, aren’t you?” She asked, not bothering to hide the amused look that found its way across her face. “You do. But, it’s cool. I get it. And doesn’t mean he’s not still broody. And mhmm. Oh, he knew. I don’t know much about that boy of yours, but I do one thing- sight or not, if there is a hot person in an hundred mile radius, that man will find them. It’s like his sixth sense or something.”

“I know you don’t need it. But I am guy that at my very core needs those bonds and ties and since that carnival, you’ve been my pack my everything. I want to be Mr. Knight because I need to be that guy you helped make me into. I need those ties to be broken from Jake Montgomery, because I don’t want to go back. You are my family, my fresh start. I love you and I just I don’t know. Marriage means something to me. It’s a ceremony and a piece of paper, but I’m was born a wolf, ceremonies, and bonding and rituals they’re all symbolic of deeper connection and that’s just always stuck with me.” 

“Help make you into? But, I- I didn’t do anything? I’ve just been me. Broody, sarcastic, fairly bitchy me? You’re my family too, Jake whatever you want to be called. Knight or Valentine. You’re my person, paper or not,” She told him without an ounce of hesitation. Sabrina didn’t trust people easily if at all. She didn’t let them in. She built up walls and was happy staying far behind them or running away before anyone could get too close or let her down. But, not with him. She let this man see all of her. Every little bit. He meant everything to her. It was more than just love. He was home and happiness and she loved existing with him in their little bubble, which was probably why she was so resistant to let the world into what they had. “And I mean I get the ceremonies and bonding and rituals. Hedge witch, remember? And, honestly, I think the idea of two people binding themselves together or swearing to protect each other and stand by each other and all of that is kinda nice? But, I guess it’s more the expectations or traditions of it that I just don’t really feel like are me? The whole girl being given away or walked down the aisle or that fact that there is even an aisle? The throwing the bouquet or this idea that the second you get married everything is ‘happily ever after’? I don’t know. It kinda feels like people use marriage to flaunt their relationship to those around them? Like they have something to prove?Or as an excuse to stop trying or flirting or charming the person they’ve chosen to be with? And I just... I don’t know and when I think of the word bride or wife, it just don’t really feel like I fit? I’m not elegant or girly or some confident romantic. I am a cynic at best and proud of it. But, the thought of me shoving myself into some white gown and walking myself down the aisle with this clunky ass metal leg seems more comical to me than anything?” She admitted, her gaze shifting towards there interlaced hands as she shrugged once more. 

“I’m loving this stupid truth spell.” He grinned, amused as he spoke. “I’m always going to say those things. Even when you say they’re annoying, because you deserve to hear them, and I’m only speaking the truth.” Rick kissed the top of her head as she hid her face. “Wait am I being openly mushy? I’m not trying to be just telling this beautiful girl how I feel.” Rick frowned. “I think you’re too harsh a critic and I’m disregarding your opinion on being a good girlfriend or not because you’re not dating you. I am and I say you’re a great girlfriend. Just so you know. All those things you describe are things I happen to enjoy. But I’m glad that it’s better when you’re with me. Not to quote One Direction right now, but Baby I’m in love with you and all those little things.” He lifted her gaze to hers. “Because it’s you they add up to.” 

“I mean…I didn’t say that but if that’s what you’d like to read between the lines.” He couldn’t fight his amusement at the moment. He didn’t mean it negatively. More like he just loved who she was and he seemed to have a distinct type he was attracted to. When she said she didn’t believe in the concept of marriage but she believed in him, all he could do was say, “I am so in love with you. It would seem we’re in a little cycle. You’re a sucker for seeing me happy, and I’m happy when I’m with you.” Rick pouted a little when she mentioned the seasons. “Yes, but the theme is seasons and then also just clothing categories. This is really hindering my vision if I don’t get four seasons. If I can’t call you Song Bird then what should I call you? Beautiful? Love? Baby?” Rick chuckled as the photo was snapped, He leaned down and rested his forehead against hers and another photo was snapped. “I’m beginning to think that we don’t even need poses for this one. Just being us seems to be inspiring the photographer.” 

“You’re so annoying,” Sabrina groaned, giving him a light shove and narrowing her eyes over at him when he told her that he loved the truth spell. But, when he told her, he’d always going to say those things, she found herself at a loss for words. Her cheeks practically searing with how much she was blushing as she squeezed his torso even tighter, burying her face against his chest. “You are, but that girl of yours doesn’t hate it. Even though she wants to,” She mumbled against his chest. “Oh god. Did you really just quote One Direction? Why do I like you again?” She let out another light groan. Scrunching up her nose as he lifted her gaze up to meet his. 

“You said your type is sarcastic assholes. So, either I’m not your type or I’m a sarcastic asshole. That’s basic math,” She pointed out. Trying her hardest to resist a smile at the amused look he had been trying to fight. “I’m so in love with you too, you sap. More than in love with you. What’s more than in love with you? Because I’m whatever you call that,” Bri told him with a soft smile, leaning forwards on her heels as she pressed a light kiss against his lips. “Welp, if you don’t give me a good enough reason to have four, it looks like you’re gonna be stuck with three. Sorry, not sorry. And don’t know. One of the first two? Well that’s good, because I don’t know a damn pose to save my life.” 

“I’d be a great handbook. A lot of men could learn a few things from me. There’d be a lot of happy partners. Straight down to the little baby baked inside.” Rick grinned. Of course he knew her well. She was the woman of his dreams and all he wanted was to make sure he always did things that made her happy and comfortable. “You know what kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn’t know you well? I’d have kept these people off the streets, but can’t really keep a person from the public streets especially in front of their homes.” He found himself grinning from ear to ear at her words. “So you thought I wasn’t doing this for the prospect that you would hang onto me all day?” He couldn’t help the smile that he wore as she tugged at his shirt. “So if I lift up my shirt you think I’ll get some beads? Are they going to give me a whole float if I take it off?” he asked, as he lifted his shirt, chuckling as he did. 

“Would you though?” Sabrina laughed at the thought. “And I really hope that you’re referring to the baby in the King Cake and not that your handbook will lead to all of these men knocking up their partners,” She laughed some more, shaking her head in amusement. “I mean I thought you were doing all of this to get laid to be honest. I figured the getting to have me hang all over you would just be a side perk, but if you only want me to hang all over you and not the other stuff...” She trailed off, shooting him a teasing smile as she stole another kiss from his lips. “If we were in actually New Orleans you would. And I think you’d have to take off your pants for all of that. But, then again, I’m guessing you did pay for the floats, so they might be yours already.”

“I’m thankful Hale didn’t take my word for it. He took it in stride. Though I wanted a do-over so that we could redo the moment but he wouldn’t give me a do-over so this one moment where I break up with him initially is the one that is going to haunt me forever. You’ve got to be doing something right or he likes your brand of whatever it is you are doing. Then again I don’t know why Hale likes me. He’s this super hot, deep, beautiful faerie and I’m just…a werewolf with a temper.” 

“Probably,” Sabrina laughed. “But, hey, you know, a few years for now, you both might be able to laugh about it. And... I don’t know. I think in a way he’s kind of perfect for me? We just get each other in a way? I’ve just never met anyone like him before? Or dated anyone whose as patient with me? I just...  I really love the dork. And we’re talking about the same broody therapist right? And you for that matter? I mean you have seen you right? Because you’re hot as fuck.”

“You can be a grown woman and be adorable and cute at the same time. That’s your face it’s an adorable one. So you think that you’re prepared for Grant Riley fans? Also you might be met with Grani fans, but I am game to do it. You want to do a live or upload a video?” 

“Doesn’t mean it doesn’t sound condescending coming from you? And you know, I also don’t see you going around and calling Noah adorable and cute or Damien or any of the other men on set that for that matter,” Sabrina pointed out. “And why wouldn’t I be? You do realize I live with Rick Valentine, right? And either? Doesn’t really matter to me.”

“So you’re not planning on marrying him then? When he’s fighting for the right to marry you? I’m not attempting to be nosy. It’s just an interesting situation. Something out of movies or fairytales. Ane I’m willing to bet that metal legs cost a lot more money than plastic so I assure you it wouldn’t be a choice in the slightest.” 

“Like you don’t like being nosy,” Sabrina scoffed. “He’s fighting for marriage equality. Not for us specifically,” She said with a shrug, even though she wasn’t quite sure that was exactly true. “Even though our relationship isn’t really any of your business? And even if you could afford it?” She asked with a raised brow.
