Rules of dating in your late 20’s
(since my last post did so well, thought I’d recreate this as I’ve been able to grow through the years. )
1. You’ll know within 5 minutes of meeting someone if you want to pursue them.
2. Your gut is never wrong, trust it always.
3. It’s okay to go on that second date just to confirm your feelings for them.
4. There’s no shame in communicating what you want, like and need head on. Actually, it’s encouraged!
5. A relationship takes two people. If you constantly find yourself trying to make plans, communicating with them and you find yourself making excuses for their behavior... leave. That person doesn’t value you or respect you.
6. Sometimes you really just need to sit down and talk to God. He will never steer you wrong and if someone isn’t meant for you... That rejection is his protection!
7. It’s okay to change your mind once and awhile about what you want. If you need a break from dating, take one. If you need a break from your current boo, take one. Do whatever you need to do to get your mind right.
Never settle. Ever!
8. Don’t Ghost. Believe it or not it’s actually emotionally traumatizing... Just shoot them a quick text at the end of the date or the next day that “while you had a good time the spark just wasn’t there.” Sometimes that’s more than enough of an explanation so you both may move onto people who you’re meant to be with at that stage in your life.
9. Toxic people can make you toxic. They can dilute your thinking, cloud your judgement and when you least expect it you can bring that behavior into new relationships. Do the work to healing yourself and mind first before jumping into another relationship!
10. Love yourself. Because no one else will be able to love you the way you deserve.
11. (A little bonus) it’s more than okay to be alone and actually...like it! There’s nothing like coming home to yourself at the end of the day and doing the things you enjoy. Your peace is everything. Protect it! Not everyone is allowed access to your peace or your joy. Don’t let anyone rob you!

See ya in the next few years when we make it to 30! (;
