I remember we had this gender subject? Or I guess gender lesson in university and the book we were asked to read and reflect on was... Bad. It's usually about sex or how hard it is to find someone to have sex with. Maybe I'm just not into sex so I can't understand why that is such a problem but... I dunno? I felt like there are more interesting things to ponder about homosexuality than the difficulty of finding a fling.
#it was a very boring read.#the one interesting mini story is that one pov character who was having an affair with a married man. there's some religion thrown in there#and since this is a very religious country i thought it would be an interesting chapter about the pov's relationship with religion#but nope. the married man just broke up with him and that's it. we don't go back to the religion part#worst is that the last chapter is the pov character being... i guess in a bar or something? and he's basically saying that he targets#questioning people to have a fling with because they're easy and like.. of course they're consenting adults but how it was presented is jus#yeah like. i dunno who wrote the book. i don't even remember the book. i know it's color yellow#but like... i don't think it's a good book to use to teach about gay people#but it is quite centered around the difficulty of finding someone to have sex with and I am not interested in sex#I don't understand the importance of sex so maybe i'm the problem.#we were supposed to write a reflection paper about it and omg. i wrote one paragraph per chapter. a sentence sometimes and it's a struggle#the whole way all I wanted to say is#“There are interesting ideas the text flirts with about the struggles of same sex relationship unfortunately the texts never commits-#-to those ideas.“#there was nothing to say!! there's only so many ways I can say 'it must be rough finding someone to have a relationship with as a gay man“#every chapter is a different story. a different guy and it's the same problem at its core
