Okay, so here was the plan.Â
And make your parents proud.Â
Or at least that would have been the plan. The superficial future your parents had hoped you would pursue, they expected you to be super successful in life just like your older sister. Because Lizzie was so perfect, not like she was hiding some of that forbidden sugar in her room. But no, you were the problem child. Itâs not like you didnât want to do anything with your life, you did, you just didnât know what. Your grades were average so you didnât get scholarships to some Grand College or University. Even if you went to community college youâd have to come up with money on your own thanks to your cheapskate father. The only places that were hiring were fast food restaurants but you were deeply introverted and can crumble under pressure. To put it short, you were lost. Heartbreak High and Friends lied to you about how exciting life is when you didn't know what to do but go with the flow.Â
Here you are, cooped up in your room full of posters, clothes strung about that you refused to pick up off the floor and an unmade bed. So what? It added charm. The only time you left your room was to use the bathroom or to skateboard to your local super mart for snacks and microwavable ramen. You refused to leave the confines of your personal space as you were on a strike against your parents. Beforehand, you and your father got into a heated argument about your future and yet again you were compared to your sister who was enjoying the show at your expense, and your mother being the ever so level headed woman she was, tried to moderate the whole thing but didnât really come to your defense. Sheâs tried many times to talk to you through the door, but you wouldnât budge.Â
You were still in your room when they decided that instead of communicating with you, your dad would rather blow off steam with a vacation. Which meant you would be stuck at home with your dreaded older sister who your parents just love to praise, and she wouldnât let you forget it. Whatever, you thought to yourself. They didnât want to meet you halfway then why should you put in the effort, so instead you resorted to playing one of your all-time favorite franchises, Buck Thunder.
Unbeknownst to you, your mother and father had finished packing, nearly walking out the door. âOh, I donât know, Tom. I just donât think we should leave while theyâre upset,â Your mother sighed heavily. Tom mumbled in dejectedness, âI tried talking to them, they just donât listen.â Lizzie rolled her eyes, Right, because you have such a great track record of communicationâŠÂ
Your older sister wasn't a stranger to your parents behavior. Before you reached high school and you only worried about more simple math problems and barely gaining a crush on some random classmate, Lizzie was the one to bear the brunt of your parents' high expectations. âLizzie, get good grades, if you wanna get into a good college,â âLizzie, be a good person if you wanna get far in life,â âLizzie, youâre a big sister now, you have to set a good example.â While she did enjoy your misery, that didnât mean she didnât sympathize. The difference was she succeeded in getting into college, once she left, she wouldnât have to worry about her parents' constant judgment. How unfortunate for you though.Â
But as soon as her parents left for their vacation, she had something special planned. Lizzie planned on going out with one final boom to kick off summer before she started the fall semester, and you start your impending doom with mom and dad.
When they were halfway out the door, Tom still looked back expecting you to stand at the end of the stairs and apologize⊠And he would apologize as well. You both would forget the whole argument even happened in the first place, and perhaps you would like to go on vacation with him and your mother too. Both you and Lizzie would tag along and you all would laugh and have fun as a happy family with absolutely zero problems. Just like the good old days. But alas, you werenât standing at the end of the stairs. Instead you were still hauled up in your room choosing technology over family and he would be reminded while relaxing on vacation. Well, no matter. You wanted to stay mad, then fine.. He straightened up and walked out the door with a huff, leaving just Lizzie and his wife, âLizzie, you keep a close eye on your sibling. Make sure they don't cause any trouble, alright?âÂ
âOkay mom, I will,â with her arms crossed Lizzie grumbled, âI doubt the dork will actually get into any trouble at all.â Kathy actually bothered to hug her daughter. âOh and if they do leave their room, make sure they read the note I left them.âÂ
âAlright, I will,â can either of you leave any faster, Lizzie thought to herself impatiently.
âOkay, baby,â her mother gave Lizzie a quick peck on the forehead, âI love you. Stay safe.âÂ
Lizzie watched until finally her parents backed out of the driveway and left. She let out an exaggerated sigh before she broke into a smile. Excitedly, she raced up the stairs, calling up any and all friends in her contact list.Â
In just a couple of minutes, it would be time to throw the biggest summer bash of her life!
In the year 2000 he saved the earth. Now he's back from retirementâŠ
You were too invested in your game to bother saying goodbye. Buck Thunder and his divorce attorney needed your help with an alien invasion, and you werenât going to stop until you finished the game. Youâve been planning an all night binge since the game came out. Your fingers expertly moved across your keyboard as you jumped, crouched and shot at whatever fired at you first. Your mouse glides against the mouse pad, moving through the colorful pixelated screen. You were too invested in your game to hear the first couple of knocks on your door. That is until the shrill voice of your sister tore at your attention, âHey, open up!âÂ
âIn a minute,â you answered back, still clicking the keys.Â
âYou gonna hide in there all day? Mom and dad just left,â she knocked again, âYou gonna answer me or what?â
âIn a minute!â You repeated, yelling over the sound of your game, your frustration rising.Â
At this point, Lizzie had become impatient and opened the door anyway, âIâm coming in. You better not be doing anything weird in there.âÂ
You let out a loud groan while instantly pausing your game. You turn your chair to face your sister who welcomed herself in and sat right on your bed like she owned it, âWhy didnât you say goodbye to mom and dad when they left for their trip? You know they were pissed, right?â
You shrugged your shoulders, âSo what? Dad always finds some excuse to be upset at me, and mom never helps.â Yes, Lizzie knew all too well. But now was not the time to be so blue over dumb parent drama. Before you could hit resume to your game, Lizzie turned you back around, âWell, whatever, we got the place to ourselves now.â
Your sister happily pulled out her compact mirror, taking a big hit. Your face scrunched at the sight of the substance she had just inhaled. Lizzie noticed and rolled her eyes, âOh my god. Donât give me that look, narc.âÂ
âDo you really need to do that?â You asked rhetorically.Â
She answered anyway, âYeah, I need to if weâre going to throw a party tonight.âÂ
âObviously. What? Are you mad that Iâm throwing it tonight?âÂ
âNo, but if the police show up Iâm pinning all the blame on you,â you smirked with a face full of smugness.Â
âWhatever, dork. Here, come on. Try some!â she held out her mirror. The only thing you used it for was to check your appearance all the while Lizzie rambled on about her friends. Yup, you thought to yourself, still good looking in your opinion. Hoodie and all.
âSo⊠Do you want any or nah?âÂ
âNo thanks,â you scoffed. You weren't one for that stuff, you'd rather take a hit of your vape over snorting that crap. You have standards, afterall.Â
âFine, more for me, then.â
You turned off your computer as you both left your room, heading downstairs while Lizzie kept talking about how the party was going to go down. âMom told me I was in charge. She did it in secret so it wouldnât hurt your feelings,â Lizzie mentioned.
âUh-huhâŠâ you were only paying half attention to your sister, your main focus was on your phone. There was an article that talked about seeing a recent alien sighting in Wyoming?Â
âBy the way, Mom left you a note on the fridge,â she shoved you into the kitchen. You sneered at her while she waved you away, âGo read it, then come meet me outside. I need your help grabbing party shit from the store.â
Well, you read the note and it was exactly what you expected. Leave it to mom to sugarcoat everything that had happened with a âLove, mom.â Oh, but instead she piled on. Praised Lizzie yet again, agreed with dad, and encouraged you to figure out a plan. Easier said than done. Maybe itâs a good thing this party is happening. Itâll take your mind off things.Â
âSo, I guess- Holy shit!â you and Lizzie barely took two steps outside before the most strangest thing happened. Across the street, a sudden warped up orb appeared, practically causing the ground to rumble. When it finally went away a random red building that looked like it was straight out of a comedic evil scientist lair was left. âWhat is that?â you took cautious steps near it before the door to the evil base opened.
âGet down,â quickly, Lizzie grabbed your arm and pulled you behind her car, âStay quiet!â You both watched the scene unfold. Four aliens emerged from the giant space port they teleported from. âI knew aliens were real. Jen owes me ten bucks,â Lizzie muttered, you shushed her. They started speaking in their native language, it certainly wasn't similar to any alien languages you've heard in movies, âDo you know what theyâre saying?â
You shook your head at your sister's question, âItâs definitely not YautjaâŠâ The aliens stopped conversing with one another as your next-door neighbor had gotten outside again with his scooter.
âOh shit, look. Itâs Mr. Pilfrey! Heâs got that, umm, what is it called?â
âYeah, dementia, thatâs what I meant to sayâŠâ
âHello? Whatâs going on out here?â Mr. Pilfrey rode right up to those aliens with that old man leer of his, âMartha? Is that you?â The giant glob alien stared at him before using his⊠hand? Stub to grab the old man, it was like watching something straight out of The Thing as Mr. Pilfrey was plunged into the other stub and⊠Did he just smoke your next door neighbor like he was a blunt?
âOh my god⊠what did they just do to Mr. Pilfrey?â Lizzie shrieked in shock, âWhat the fuck in going on?â
While the blue alien that looked like a trashy sink repairman kept talking joyfully, the giant glob monster gestured to the spider cyborg-like alien. Immediately, he drew out a blaster and fired the blue alien right in the face, instantly killing him. Then in a flash, they, along with their base, were gone.
There were crashes in the distance as meteors started shooting from the sky, and the sound of panicked shouting erupted from your neighborhood. But that wasnât all, as a random screaming caught your attention, âWhat is that?âÂ
âItâs coming from that dead alien!â Lizzie pointed. You ran off to the dead alien, âPlease be careful!âÂ
You shoved the large alien body over, as the shouting got louder, and the shooting became more rampant. What you pulled underneath him was a blue gun-looking alien wailing whatever lungs it had out. âUhâŠâ you stared in confusion as his eyes darted between you and whatever was behind him, âI-I donât know what you want!â The small alien gun rolled his eyes before he hacked up and spat out a large green wad of saliva right at your face.
âUgh, did that thing just spit on you?â Lizzie called out in genuine disgust. You gagged and coughed profusely while he spoke âFinally! Oh my god. Finally Iâm free! Thank god! What a nightmare. Listen, can you please pull the inhibitor chip out of me?âÂ
âThe inhibitor chip, itâs the metal thing stuck in me, just pull it out.â
You turned him around and did what he told. He let out a yelp once you finally pulled it out of him, âAhh, that feels so much better! Thank you!â
âWhy the hell did you just spit on me?â you yelled angrily.
âSorry, sorry. I needed to get you infected with the translator microbes,â he explained, the antennae on his forehead lowered, âThatâs sorta how it works. Guess you guys donât have that here yet.â
âWhat are you anyway? Whatâs happening?â
âI'm Kenny, Iâm a Gatlian. Uhh, w-we gotta move,â he stuttered, urging you to move.
âIs it talking to you? Lizzie yelled, "Maybe we should go back to the house!â You turned your attention to your sister, but the gun demanded your full attention, âIgnore her! Itâs very important that you listen to everything I say!â
âOkay, okay!â you surrendered, âIâll listen to you. What is it?â
âIt is your lucky day right now,â he argued, âWe can survive this together if you just listen to me!â
âAlright, Iâm listening to you!â you argued back. To anyone who was watching you both yell at each other, you sounded like an old married couple already.
âGood! Those G3 guys are gonna turn your whole species into drugs. Can you handle a gun?â
One of those goopy yellow aliens fired a couple of rounds at you, luckily they missed, seems like they had the accuracy of stormtroopers. âLike hell I can,â on instinct, you held Kenny like a shotgun and started firing. âFuck yeah, there we go!â Kenny grinned, adrenaline rushed through you as you fired back at the aliens.Â
âWhat the fuck! This oneâs shootinâ back!â one of the aliens exclaimed, you got a head shot on a couple of them, âThatâs right! Buck Thunder taught me everything!âÂ
âHell yeah!â Kenny cheered, sharing your victory, âI am so glad you picked me up. Letâs keep going!â
âThe humans in this zone were supposed to be pushovers!â Kenny operated just like a gun, and just like a gun, needed reloading like one. âUhh,â you turned him from side to side, âHow do I reload?â
âEasy, just push on my back,â you did just that, and Kenny seemed to just regain ammo. âNot bad, alien, not bad at all. Letâs head to that base,â you ran inside the building Kenny called a warp base. More G3 grunts showed up, but it was an easy clean up, âOkay, the warp drive should be at the top. Thatâs where it always is in shit like. Just keep going!âÂ
You shot at the merks like it was nothing, Kenny pointed out where the warp drive was, which looked like a piece of the Crystal of Truth from The Dark Crystal.
âWeâll use this to warp the hell off this doomed planet.â
âSorry, no offense,â Kenny apologized.Â
âBut, we can save my planet, right?âÂ
Kenny looked away from you, taking a while to answer. It looked like he didnât want to answer, like he was hiding something. âKenny?â
âWell, yes, we can save your planet, but not right now.â he sighed, âIâm sorry, I donât mean to upset you. But yes, your planet is doomed for now.âÂ
You pulled the warp drive out of its panel and carried it in your free arm, âHow did they even know about earth?âÂ
âWe donât need to worry about that, we need to get away from the base if we donât want to be blown up,â Kenny rushed you. â Blown up?!â Thatâs when you noticed the sound of beeping coming from inside the base.
âDonât worry about the beeping, we need to get to your house. That warp drive needs power,â your gun urged you to hurry, âDo you have something back at your house?â
âUh, does a microwave work?â behind you, the base blew up, bodies of G3 grunts and merks flew everywhere. âYes,â Kenny answered, âA microwave could work.âÂ
You ran off to your house, everyone in the neighborhood were screaming and getting snatched up by the G3 aliens. You shot as many as you could, but you couldnât save everyone. Kenny seemed to have noticed your discomfort, âYou need more encouragement? Youâre uh⊠Thatâs my little G3 killer! Ohh, look at you G3 killer.âÂ
âThatâs not really helping.âÂ
âSorry, I thought you might need some cheering up, since you know⊠Your planet is being overrun by the G3,â You glared at him, âSorry.âÂ
When you ran inside the house, Lizzie had already bludgeoned an invading alien to death, all her clothes was stained in its blood, âOh, thank god youâre still alive! I just killed an alien!â Your sister's voice was hoarse as she coughed whatever muck had landed on her face from the alien, âI got blood in my mouth! I think weâre all gonna die!âÂ
âLizzie, calm down, weâre gonna be fine,â You tried to reassure her, but not even you were sure. âCalm down? Calm down?! How do you expect me to calm down? Weâre being invaded by actual aliens! I just killed one!â
Kenny ignored her, âWhereâs that microwave you were talking about?â
That seemed to ease her a little⊠The fact that she could understand your alien friend whoâs a gun, âWhoa, I can understand your gun now.â
âSeriouslyâŠâ you mumbled.Â
âTranslator microbes! Theyâre contagious but cou- please just move past all this shit?! Human, microwave, now.âÂ
âAlright,â you placed the warp drive on the island of your kitchen, âOkay, so do I just- Oh!â The machine connected to your microwave automatically, its wires slithered and connected to the buttons.Â
âOh, thank god, it worked!â Kenny exclaimed, âOkay, i-itâs just gonna need a second to boot up-â
âShit, theyâre in the studio! Oh god! The aliens are real and they are in the studio!âÂ
You turned around to see Lizzie had turned on the TV to the news station. You watched as they invaded and wreaked havoc in the studio, tying up the news anchor just as the screen went black. A new face was on screen.Â
âHello, aliens of Earth,â it was the giant alien from before, âMy name is Garmantuous, leader of the G3 cartel. Donât resist.âÂ
You left Kenny on the counter and moved next to your sister as he spoke in a typical monster voice, âAny attempts to fight us would be futile. You are now officially the property of the G3 cartel.â The transmission cut off before he could go on
âAlright, itâs go time! Letâs get outta here!â the gatlian hollered from the kitchen.
âWait. âGet out of here?â âŠWhere are we going?â Lizzie asked as you ran off to the kitchen and picked Kenny back up.Â
âTo find somebody who can help!â he smiled up at you full of hope, âYou ever been to the big city? Because youâre about to, except that itâs a space city!â Kenny continued to excitedly ramble on and on about space, as the house rumbled like an earthquake, âItâs a huge space city and youâre gonna be outta your element! And you just follow my lead!â
The house stopped shaking, âWhat⊠What just happened?â You walked up to the front door, the closer to the outside you got, the louder the sounds from the outside got. âLooks like we made it. Hey, human, can I ask you a quick question?â you brought Kenny up to eye level, âYeah?â
âI never got your name.âÂ
â(Y/N). Itâs (Y/N),â you answered.
Well, (Y/N), welcome to Blim City.â Just before you opened the door to the outside, Lizzie grabbed your arm, entirely ruining the moment you were having. âHang on,â she glared at Kenny with a raised brow, âDid you just warp our entire house to another planet?â
Kenny rolled his eyes, âYeah, keep up! Weâll be safe here. Now take me outside, (Y/N)!â
âWoah, woah, youâre just gonna leave me here,â she asked, like it was the most ridiculous thing you could do in the world. You shrugged your shoulders, âWhy not? Weâre here, arenât we?â She shook her head in disbelief, âHow the hell are we even gonna get back to Earth?â
âUhh, we canât,â Kennyâs antennas lowered, âThat was a one-way trip. We donât have the coordinates to your planet.â
Lizzie huffed, âThen what about our parents? And everyone else?â
âYeah, that is true,â you agreed.Â
âLook, we left because weâre trying to save them!â he answered impatiently, âThat-thatâs why we need Gene. So can we please go find him?âÂ
âThe answer to all our problems, heâll know exactly what to do.â
That seemed to answer all your questions for now. Kenny seemed to hide some stuff. But now wasnât the time, you needed to look for whoever Gene is and find a way to stop the G3. With a deep inhale of your nose, your hand found your doorknob and turned, opening the door to a world of unknown.
âYouâre going OUT there?! Into SPACE?!â Lizzie called out after you. Kenny answered for you instead, âYeah! Welcome to fuckinâ space!â
âWoahâŠâ you awed. Blim City looked exactly what you would expect an alien planet to look like. The restaurants, the floating cars, the aliens. The Jonas Brothers really werenât lying when they sang Year 3000
âI'm actually in space!â you exclaimed.Â
âOr I'm really highâŠâ
I was kinda debating if I should go off script from the game, I started writing for it but scrapped and put it off to the side. Like, the reader and Lizzie throw the party, have a good time, maybe have a little drunken argument/heart to heart moment regarding the reader's future and the pressure they feel. Then the day after thatâs when the invasion happens. I donât know, would you guys want like, a little additional scenes to happen? I kinda have a few already saved for future chapters. Especially when I start writing for the second game.
If there are any grammar mistakes, please let me know.
