some late night thoughts on miss americana and the heartbreak prince
<< American stories Burning before me I'm feeling helpless The damsels are depressed Boys will be boys, then Where are the wise men? Darling, I'm scared >>
i cant believe that i didn't realise that Miss Americana was a metaphor for how cooked the US is. why are we not all talking about how Miss Americana is, then, taylor's most genius and intelligent work of art? i think it's so interesting also considering taylor's country roots. i am not american and do not purport to understand the culture very well at all, but i understand that country and nationalism/patriotism are somewhat connected... and she used to sing the US anthem and host 4th of july parties... and now her eyes have been really opened to the injustices in her country and in the world and she's done a 180. i think as young people, as young women, as the future leaders of the world stand to learn something very important from this. that we must have open eyes to what is occurring in the world. and we must speak for what is right at any cost.
i just really want to talk to someone about what i have only JUST realised about miss americana. political metaphor in a pop album in 2019 by a young woman in the heart of the public eye. absolutely genius, intelligent, modern and forward thinking !
congratulations miss @taylorswift on what i believe to be your most compelling work of art to date. and i love all of your art.
