Hi guys!
I'll be tabling at Brooklyn Independent Comics Showcase (BICS) next weekend! It's my first ever tabling event and the first time I'm selling any of my art as prints. It'll be held at Industry City's Box Factory in Brooklyn, NY. You can read more about the event here.
Since it's my first tabling event, I don't have a large inventory or much to show - but admission is free, and I'm excited to meet and chat with folks. Doing anything of this nature is a huge leap of faith in myself so I look forward to the new sights and experience that sitting behind a table will bring.
(And Fanfest is the weekend after, so I will have WoL stickers if anyone wants to trade as well!)
This might be weird but I loved the way you rendered byleths boots! May I ask how you did it?
Oh thank you!! Hmm how to explain in a way that is helpful 😭 I see their boots as a type of leathery/reflective type material which I tried to bring out with starker shadows and a bit of sheen. So I think it’s all about being mindful of the textile that I’m drawing at the moment (and there’s no specific brush I use, just as long as its generally opaque as I don’t like soft/low opacity brushes too much lol).
I hope that somewhat answers the question!
I wanted to tell you that I came for your fire emblem art, stayed for your designs, got into final fantasy, and now I'll forever burrow into your house like a borrower (Mary Norton or Miyazaki style)
😂 Thanks for sticking around for so long, and I hope whatever morsels I’ve been able to leave behind have kept you fed!
Revisited and redrew an old Byleth piece

The heretic, Ramza Beoulve
you have such incredible color and composition, do you have any advice for how to like... practice or study that? i admire your work so much
Aw, thank you so much! That’s so nice of you to say 😊 Regarding your question, I have a lot of thoughts but will try to keep it short and simple.
Color: After trying out various sources, the tried and true method (imo) is to go back and look at old masters like Monet or Edgar Payne. I say “tried and true” because I used to study color from cinematography and photography too but felt that I could only pick up coloring tips and tricks by looking at actual artists, whose color can exceed what we see in reality and on camera.
Composition: On top of old masters of course, here I think studying from cinematography and photography is far more useful. Since this type of media cannot push color as much, they have to convey feeling via character placement, lighting, camera angles, etc. which are more relevant to composition in my opinion. (Though not at all trying to say movie/photo colors are subpar, mind.)
For the actual methodology, I really recommend value studies which will help get a sense of how elements in a composition are placed. For color, I like to use an eyedropper on old master art pieces just to observe color choice, such as where colors are saturated, desaturated, and try to understand why (e.g. lighting?) and then try to draw something similar with what I’ve just learned. And making sure I do this repeatedly when I have time 😅
I didn’t want to ramble as I think there is a lot to talk about when it comes to studies but I hope this gives a good basic idea on where/how to approach them! Happy to answer any other questions ^_^
I have such high hopes for her
Finished Octopath Traveler 0 recently and spent so much time in the game, I wanted to commemorate with a simple drawing
