Yosemite

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting Yosemite National Park, a caution of this variety may be familiar to you. As Aussies and Brits, the prospect of seeing a live bear riffling through our belongings both thrilled, and frightened us to the extent of involuntary squealing, this was a state we found ourselves in often whilst visiting Yosemite.

By day, we ventured out on hikes which were long and steep, but rewarding. There are a variety of trails around, each differing in both distance and difficulty so it could be said, there is something for everyone. Camped under a thick cluster of pine trees we enjoyed a campfire, a few ales, and flame grilled sausages for dinner. It was here that we experienced some of that cold American weather we were warned about. When it came time to hit the sack, I for one was glad to be married, and that I could share a sleeping bag with another warm body.

Despite being assured we would almost certainly be attacked by a bear, the only wildlife we saw were deer and the odd Coyote. Maybe next time.
