“You don’t sound very convincing, mate,” Remus replied, watching James fiddle with his wand. He often found himself in situations like these, where he was in considerably more trouble than he had bargained for. Especially if he happened to be with James or Sirius. 

“Possible. That’s something. What about probable?” He asked, hesitantly - he was pretty sure he already knew the answer. “Come on. We can get out of this. Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve managed something incredible.”

“Oh, that’s fancy. A Black family heirloom, maybe? I’m surprised you still have it...” He moved to study her in the mirror. “You look absolutely stunning, by the way. Let’s hope they haven’t cursed it to choke you.”

The sounds he could elicit from Remus were enough to satiate Sirius for the time being, but he wanted Moony to actually feel better. He smiled at the answer, continued to stroke the other boy’s hair and pressed a tender kiss to his temple.

“Well, you’re not wrong. You feel right to me.” Sirius answered and gave the other boy a squeeze. “You’re never wrong to me… and I just love you.” He shrugged his shoulders, as if this answer were simple and obvious. He moved so they could face one another, their noses almost touching. “There’s got to be more… why do you feel wrong?”

He grumbled his acknowledgement and approval into Sirius’ chest. He hadn’t wanted to talk about it, particularly, but he knew Sirius wouldn’t be satisfied until he had fixed the problem.

He chuckled, finding it endearing that Sirius thought that whatever was bothering him could be settled with a declaration of love. The sad part was he was mostly right - Sirius’ love did have a way of undoing whatever was wrong in his chest. 

“Words are not,” he mumbled, thinking. “Words are not my friends right now. It’s just...me. How I think. It’s bad today.”

“Mm… not a proposal, Moony. Think of it more as a promise.” There was a grin in return, a fire in her eyes. “How do you feel about that?”

“A promise of a proposal, then.” She laughed softly, watching Padfoot’s face. “How do I feel? Hmmm...” She paused, her face screwed up as if in thought. “Pretty bloody good, actually.” 

Sirius smiled and pulled Remus into a room away from the rest of the Order. “Listen to me, Remus John Lupin, I have missed you like the earth misses rain. I need to taste you, and I mean for that to sound as wrong and dishonorable as possible. Now, if you’re certain you can pry yourself away from the others, I know a place where we can hide.”

“I have missed you, too,” He said through the kisses he was both eagerly giving and receiving. “Am I certain? Well, I think they’ll survive without me for the time being. And also...I don’t particularly care at the moment.”  It had been a long time since the two of them had been wrong and dishonorable. “Where are we hiding?”

Remus quirked a brow. “With you? Of course. I thought I had made my intentions clear. Has there been a misunderstanding, Mr. Black?”
