// honestly ? i know this prompt is all about coming up with a bad end that doesn't involve death, but I think there are few fates worse than death for arven .

// arven dying is probably the worst end i could think of for him . it kills all possibility for his parents proving they love him, for him forgiving them, for him finally having a family he can be happy in . even arven cutting them off and abandoning them would be less terrible because at least arven could try and find some happiness away from his family . sure, he'd never be the same and there would always be a massive void unfilled, but there would be the possibility for happiness .

// arven dying after a life deprived of familial love and attention, dying before he can get it (and accept he has it) honestly to me feels like the worst possible end for him . an end where it all amounted to absolutely nothing . an end where all the pain and suffering still resulted in arven dying before he had a full chance to recover .

they pause, glancing back down at the cake . their APPETITE has been nearly non-existent for weeks, compensating by trying to cook just as much as they usually do . still, he picks up the fork and takes a bite .

he swallows thickly, looking at his cousin with genuine guilt . he pushes the piece of cake back towards them, not because he was afraid of what was in it but because ree DESERVED it more .
