Ride Or Die Rye

with her books purchased and tucked away in her bad, lucy was free to spend the afternoon with the re-united friend. riley was one of the few people in the younger years that didn't see lucy as an odity, or didnt' be around her as she wasn't as social as they. lucy hoped now she could repay the kindness shown her way as an adult. one coffee catch up, or movie outing, or general hang out at a time. stepping out the pathway outside of the store, the blonde searches for riley, offering a warm grin in her direction. "any ideas on where you'd like to have coffee?"

Riley kept scrolling through her phone but perked when she heard her friend, a grin forming on her face in return. She got up, starting their little journey to the coffee shop as she gently motioned Lucy to follow, it not being a far stroll at all. "Driftwood, of course." She said, skipping a bit with a sudden burst of energy. "it's my favorite place to play on my laptop while I'm drinking a mocha." She said and giggled.

"Yeah, I don't know why she thinks I'd even let him steal me. One, we're kinda similar in a lot of ways and I don't necessarily want to date myself? I'm not at that level of narcissism. And, two, he's not my type." Evie waved her hand dismissively. "Ah, but it's not that big a deal." Was it tiring? Sometimes, yeah. But Evie was willing to reassure Darcy she wasn't going anywhere until she didn't need that reassurance any longer.

"I tell her that all the time.. that he clearly isn't your type." Riley snorted as she sucked the spoon softly as she pondered a bit. "I can understand needing to be reassured, I had to be reassured quite a bit, but that's because I always ended up hurt doing something stupid and then asking them if they still liked me even if I'm reckless." She rambled. She hated that she used to be that bad, but she grew out of needing to be reassured so much. Darcy would eventually grow out of it too, maybe? Who knew.

Lorna chuckled along, as she listened to the other. "Now that I can believe," she said, humorously. Still grateful that the woman had survived and left their initial encounter unscathed. Gesturing towards the door that led to the cafe, she allowed her to walk first before she trailed behind. "I'm Lorna, by the way. Her lips curved upwards into a light smile. "Nice to meet you, miss."

"Nice to meet you too." Riley mused as she put her hands in her pockets as they walked. She pondered, spacing off just a little, for she didn't even think to introduce herself before she realized and looked at Lorna. "Oh- Shit, Riley. I'm Riley." She said with a soft snort. "Sorry, I spaced out a bit."

Lorna became worried at first, wondering how hurt the woman was. Her hands immediately reached out to catch and assist her, but was taken aback by her sudden admission. "Oh... oh, it's fine!" She laughed it off, just grateful that she was actually in no real pain. The last thing she wanted was to cause injury to someone in such a serene place. "You're a good actress. You almost had me." She definitely had her there. "Are you sure? Honestly, I was going to head to the cafe anyway. You should let me buy you a drink."

Riley was confused if the woman was serious about Riley’s horrible acting actually being good, but she went with it. “Thank you. I’m just an ultimate master of acting.” She mused before shaking her head at her stupid comment. Her eyes then went to the woman and smiled at her offer. “I guess I can’t say no to someone offering a free drink.” She began as she nodded. “Alright sure, let’s go then.”

Evie strolled over to the table Riley had motioned to, a little bounce to her step, a grin plastered on her face as she sat, tucking both feet under her bum before digging into the sugary goodness offered to her. A bit too quickly because gah! Brain freeze!! "Mmm ow ow owowowowow," she hissed, squeezing her eyes shut as she shook off the icy pain until it subsided. "Staying home, watching Dreamworks with a bottle of vodka for me usually. But dating your sister has been pretty good. You know, when she's not freaking out about me apparently wanting to leave her for my co-worker. Which, I don't, just to clarify. "Are things okay now? Between you two, I mean."

“She mentioned her freak out about your coworker stealing you and I made it known multiple times that she needs to calm down and know that won’t happen.” Riley said with a sigh. Riley then snorted. “Hey, It’s cold. Just to let you know.” She teased at her friend that was suffering from the horrific brain freeze.

"That's what I've been saying." No one listened to Silas though, despite how often he spoke nothing but truths. It was his curse to bear that his brilliance would slip by unnoticed and unappreciated.

“Trust me, I’m so.. ecstatic that you get me.” Riley said, grinning at the man. She never really thought about a lot of things in a.. smart way. But she thought what she was saying made sense and that was all that mattered to her anyways. And now a random stranger and her are bonding over their.. interesting thoughts.

where did the time go? she could of sworn yesterday the pair were both kids going about their lives without any care in the world. life had a way of allowing people to drift apart before they even realised it. as lucy catches the light building in riley's eye's in reaction to her invite for coffee, her features mirror the enthusiasm. "great!" she chirps, before looking down at the pile of books she held in her arms. "let me just pay for these, and i'll meet you outside."

“Great, see you outside.” Riley mused with a grin plastered on her face before she walked out, stopping in her tracks at the front entrance to wait on her old friend. This was exciting. She missed Lucy and now they’re getting coffee? She was absolutely thrilled. She couldn’t stand still. She rocked back and forth on her heels as she hummed to herself.

"Riley, Riley, Riley... prepare to get your ass kicked, dear sister." Darcy laughed as she shook her head before grabbing Riley's hand and all but dragging her into the little arcade. "Okay, so! Where should we start? Mortal Kombat, or should that be saved for last?

Riley scowled at her sister as she was dragged inside. "Excuse me, I'm pretty sure your ass is the one that will get the kickin' bitch." She said as she giggled before she moved and wrapped her arm around Darcy's and grinned at her. "I figured we would save DDR for last." she teased. "Because I know for a fact I'll beat you at that." She cooed before looking around before looking back at her sister. "Let's just start with Mortal Kombat first."

location: botanical gardens

Riley wandered around slowly since she hadn't been back at the botanical gardens ever since the festival, and she wanted to experience the beauty of the gardens once more. However, she jolted from the feeling of someone stepping on her foot before she looked at the woman's face. It didn't hurt, in fact it just startled her a little. She then acted super dramatic, hoping to get a laugh out of her. "ohh.. ouch ouch." She sighed as she pretended to fall over but then she caught herself. "I'm kidding, I'm sorry." She said, as if the horrible acting wasn't enough to show the woman she was just joking. "Me and my foot are okay- I promise. It doesn't need any coffee." She let out a soft giggle.

"You must not know me well enough if you'd think I'd turn down free ice cream or an opportunity to mooch off of a friend's generosity. Not that I was dropping hints or anything, because I wasn't. I'd just ask outright if I was." Evie turned to the clerk with no hesitation, pointing to the pineapple upside-down cake one, holding up a single finger because she's had several free samples at that point and she wasn't going to be too greedy or anything. After taking her bowl, she turned to Riley, already shoveling the ice cream into her mouth while saying, "Thanks. Much appreciated. It always tastes better when it's free. How ya been, Rye-Rye? Haven't seen much of you in a while."

"I do know that." Riley snorted a bit as she moved and paid before motioning to a seat as she sat down, eating hers rather slowly as she stared at her friend. "You're welcome." She mused as she scooped another spoonful and stuck it in her mouth before speaking. "I've been decently okay. I've just been working and then staying in my house... watching Disney with a bottle of tequila in my hand. Nothing too out there." She shrugged. "What about you? How's dating my sister going?" She joked as she swayed her feet back and forth like a kid.

Kaede never held anything against other people. Life was way too short to be mad at others for just being themselves. He already escaped a pretty judge mental family and didn’t need to carry on that sort of line of thinking. “ I try to remember everyone I talk to you, but I swear it’s not because of the awkwardness of last time that I do remember you.” he added, trying to assure her that it wasn’t because of a batteries and he remembered her face. “ sometimes it helps to take time. You don’t want to end up regretting anything like that.” a pet was a huge responsibility and he himself didn’t even take it lightly, even though he already had a child to be responsible for. “ we got two, the whole idea of leaving a small kitten in my house alone was too sad. She got the black cat she kept looking at that morning and she named it Jiji from Kiki’s delivery service and then we found a tuxedo in the same litter. “ @rxleyanthony

Riley smiled as the man spoke, her eyes on him as she sipped her drink occasionally. "I guess I just haven't had that.. connection people mention when they look at an animal. Sucks but I'd rather feel that before I adopt one." She said before perking in an intrigued manner. "I love Kiki's Delivery Service. A black cat named Jiji just fits." She mused, leaning in as a grinned pulled at her lips. "And a tuxedo cat? What is it's name?"

lucy lets a gentle bout of air fall from her lips, watching the expressions of the girls face. its funny how one day you could almost be attached at the hip to someone, then the next day the've completely vanished from your life as if they'd evaporated into thin air. lucy had wondered if she'd said or done anything wrong. or, due to the fact lucy never really spoke much, maybe it was something she didn't say. over the years, however, she learnt to not take so much to heart, that there's a multitude of reasons why people drifted apart in life. everyone had their storms to face.

When Lucy mentioned catching up and having coffee, Riley's eyes lit up. That is what she had been waiting on. "I always have time for that." She mused as she stepped closer, her arm nudging her friend's before motioning. "I'm done here, I'm probably not even going to get anything, so.. when you're ready we can head to Driftwood- but just warning you I'm paying for your coffee."

"You're such a ditz," Asher responds affectionately. "I never said it is everything, but... someone for everyone. Doesn't have to be romantic, does it? What if your forever person is just your best friend?" Not to confuse the idea with 'marrying your best friend' as in a partner, but his point stands. He does well to keep from spewing out what he would tell his little sisters when they were in the down and outs about boys and dating and school dances and all that annoying stuff.

Riley furrowed her brows from being called a ditz. She knew it wasn’t everything but she missed being able to hug and tell someone she loved them and possibly having a future with them. She rubbed her neck, knowing it was dumb to keep bringing it up anyways. She sounded like a high schooler who just got dumped.. She hated it. Riley ended up dropping it, there was no point to keep talking about it.

When Kaede took another look at the woman in front of him; it clicked why she had seemed so familiar at first. She was someone he ran into at the animal shelter when he was trying to find kittens. She was also someone who gave a rather surprising reaction to his daughter. However after the interactions he had with the person at the movie theater he knew what an actual terrible interaction was like. And the woman in front of him was actually rather nice.

Riley moved, her hand gently grabbing her new drink as she looked at the man, her shoulders tensing when he made the joke. She gulped before letting out a gentle laugh as her hands fidgeted with the glass. “Oh you remember me.” She snorted a bit, relaxing once she realized he wasn’t upset at her. She sipped her drink, shaking her head as she let out a soft sigh. “No, I kept over thinking and I just walked out of the shop without getting one- I want one I just dunno.” She shrugged her shoulders. She wanted an animal to greet her at home after a long day, or a bad day. She didn’t have a person to greet her so the next best thing was an animal in her eyes. “Ah.. how about your kid? Did you end up getting one or two kittens for her?” She snorted, a gentle smile forming on her face.
