“don’t tease my heart– it was broken.”

he frowned, cupping her cheek. “hey; i’m sorry. is there anything i can do?”

“what was i supposed to think?”

“for such a fucking kid, you’ve got a big mouth.”

“gross.”

“n--- fuck you, no. not that.”

“i have to protect my heart, youngjin.”

“isn’t that what made you run away in the first place? i don’t trust your heart.”

“you didn’t ask?”

“i was focused on other things.”

“known, and missed it dearly.”

he raised an eyebrow. “you sure didn’t act like it.”

though she hadn’t been expecting it, and even had told him it probably wasn’t wise minutes before, she couldn’t help but smile, blushing. “you’re really something else,” she murmured.

“i am. but you’ve known that for years.”

she took a deep breath, raising her eyebrow and glancing up at him. “you’ll shut me up?” she asked with a chuckle. “how might you do that?”

he pressed his lips together, smiling awkwardly and shrugging, before pressing a quick kiss to her lips. 

“you stop. you’re being too nice. i feel worse– i was a bitch to such a sweet guy. i’m the worst.”

“i will fight you to the bitter end over this, bomi. shut up before i shut you up, honestly.”

“you’re so…good. you’re so good. i don’t deserve to even know you, youngjin. i don’t deserve to be in the same room. you’re so forgiving and nice and compassionate…i fuck up and you still are so loyal,” she murmured, tears starting to fall again. “yeah. yeah, you can hug me.”

he wrapped her up tightly, crushing her to his chest and rubbing her back. “oh, shush. you’re so strong and sweet and brave. stop. you didn’t fuck up . you were scared.”

“it’s hard but pretending like i hate you is really hard too,” she groaned, shaking her head. “i…this was good too. i didn’t want to talk about this but i do feel a little better i just…….can we go slow?”

“not gonna lie...that was worse than you just not talking to me, bomi. i missed you and it hurt to think that maybe i’d done something wrong to hurt you and make you angry with me,” he said with a wince. “of course. of course we can. i....can i hug you? is that okay?”

“you’re kind of an ass. don’t you come for her. i’ll kick your ass.”

“i don’t doubt it.”

“i….sure,” she mumbled, sighing. “wait….youngjin…..do you mean…..?” she trailed off awkwardly, shaking her head.

“i...” he paused, frowning. “i dunno. but i want to find out.” he sighed. “i understand if you want to continue keeping your distance from me, though. i know its harder for you than it is for me.”

“it’s ok. it’s not your fault.”

“it’s not yours either.”
