Mr. Boss as Your Dad!!!

˙ᵕ˙ It doesn't matter if you play football or make pottery, Mr. Boss is standing on the sidelines cheering his little heart out. Maybe heckling the other kids, too, we'll see. It's not their fault they're not as cool as you.

˙ᵕ˙ The fact that you were adopted by him is not a secret, so rather than a dramatic reveal moment you instead get to relive how he fell for you and chose you and would do it all over again given the chance 🫶🏻

˙ᵕ˙ You were a baby when Mr. Boss found you- the cutest baby in the world alongside your brother Jason when he was born, your dad often reminisces- and as such your pictures are all over the walls of your shared home!

˙ᵕ˙ "Come on, guys, let's go!" You're used to your father's spontaneous outings, but still you ask where and why you all are getting ready. This time, it's to the aquarium, but it's been to baseball games and most often, to Smiling Friends to watch his beloved boys! No one could cheer you up quite like them. On any day smiles aren't high, your father will whisk you away, no matter how old you get!

˙ᵕ˙ Another one of Mr. Boss's favorite things to do no matter your age over the years is your hair. Whether it's the simplest, limpest hair or the thickest, wildest curls, your father will be there sitting you down and doing all of it. If you like to wear elaborate braids and styles he'll learn them even if it takes time and time again, your father's hands worn by many a year and yet still gentle, never tugging on your hair harder than they have to.

˙ᵕ˙ "Oh, what's this?" Your father's voice is at its softest when he catches the sound of you crying, an arm quickly finding its way across your back and pulling you into him from the side. Letting you sob, even if you don't answer, his hand rubs gently up and down. Years of being your father, knowing you since you were just a baby, means Mr. Boss knows what'll make you smile again, whether it's a little joke, long processing silence, or a good rant session. Anything goes until he can coax a look of happiness, however brief, from you. "There we go! Now, you know the rules." "The rules" being that whenever you've been crying, your father makes sure you have something to drink, too. "Gotta replace those tears, right?" You know it's because you can't keep crying while you're sipping water or maybe a nice hot tea or cocoa he's made you, but you let him have the old words from your youth, that alone never failing to make the smile return.

˙ᵕ˙ If you're a girl, oh my god this man will NEVER fail to show up to a father-daughter dance. He literally looks for excuses to attend or host them all so he can dress you up and show you off, calling you his little princess or if you don't like that just his girl, his beautiful girl.

˙ᵕ˙ That is not to say he's not proud of you otherwise. He's got Jason and we all know what a doting boy dad he is, so even if there aren't daddy-daughter dances in his future he's telling everyone about his boy! You're handsome and dashing just like your dad, you're talented at all your favorite things and they will hear about it.

˙ᵕ˙ No matter what gender you are, if you were a makeup and nail polish kid then by god so is he. No amount of fighting skills or dark past can take away the glow of pride at your makeovers, the way Mr. Boss will wear your purple glitter nail polish messily coating his fingernails with pride. Charlie tries to make fun of him, and big mistake. "Fuck you, man, my kid did this. Are you making fun of my kid? DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE JOY OF FATHERHOOD?" "Uh, no, man, I guess not. M-maybe someday? Like, in a long time."

˙ᵕ˙ In that same vein, he'll make any conversation about you, sliding his phone from his pocket. "That reminds me exactly of what my kid just did! Look at this." "Ugh, another one?" "Yes, another one! Can your kid do this?" "This" could be a sports play, a charcoal sketch, a makeup look, a stage monologue, or a mini business just like his for all it matters- you did it. Hell, you may have swindled other kids in your class and Mr. Boss is still saying how shrewd and intelligent you are and that you got that from him, by the way.

˙ᵕ˙ No one understands what it's like to have nightmares better than Mr. Boss. Even if you have full-on night terrors and wake up screaming, he's never mad. His face crumples in sympathy and he is there with you, never leaving your side even when you fall asleep- he's going back to bed right there by your side, one hand protectively on your shoulder even as he drifts off.

˙ᵕ˙ When you were a toddler, Mr. Boss would pick you up and spin you around in his arms. As an adult, he will still do this. Be ready.

˙ᵕ˙ Almost every year he tries to get you to do matching Halloween costumes with him and Jason if he's around too 😭

˙ᵕ˙ Starts teaching you self-defense skills at maybe too young an age. Jason didn't have hands, but if you've got at least one you're having a knife thrust into it from age, like, six or seven on. "If you need to, don't hesitate to use this! If someone tries to hurt my babies," your dad adds, expression darkening, "I sure won't."

˙ᵕ˙ Always had the silliest ways of entertaining you. When you were really little, he'd do little dances for you nearly any time you went to the restroom, knowing you didn't like to be alone in there. Either mixing it up or taking requests- he can roll with it! "Daddy!" "Yes, pumpkin?" "Do the bunny hop!" "Again?" "Yes, again!" You giggled. Joke's on you- he rocks that bunny hop, thank you very much.
