They paused for a moment and frowns a small bit.

Flowey twitched back somewhat upon them closing in, but kept his ground in front of Chara’s grave, fumbling with his leaves for a moment, before a loud snort broke the somewhat delicate moment between them.

He threw them a trademark deadpan expression and lifted both his brows. “Wow Frisk… I was unaware that manure helps people to skip about ten years of their life and shoot up like a tree, too. How old are you even now?! You are grown up!” He narrowed his eyes at them. “You are are grown ass adult, obviously.” He grumbled and then recounted the time he had been here, maybe he had just been here all that much longer without noticing it.. But no. no he was sure it had been five years. Frisk shouldn’t be older than 15!

“If you WERE Frisk… you would be like… a teenager now? And I guess a young one, too… not sure they ever told me their age...?”

“It has been f-five years.” It was hard to recount that number out loud. He had been lonely, he had been sure Frisk had abandoned him for good now… and then this FREAK showed up, daring to give him hope again… just to fucking rip it away once more!!

He folded his leaves before his stem, miffed and pissed off, almost ready to growl at them, as something wounded stalked through his gaze like a frown cold, hurt and desperate predator. He wanted this to be true so badly…

There was a small slimmer of hope as he said their name, however it crashed as soon as he went on as obvious that he didn’t believe them.

“I’m... 21...” They mumbled softly as even they found it hard to believe with how some people treated them. They still looked younger than their age anyways.

Frisk frowns as they grips their shirt tighter. “I AM Frisk!” They wanted to scream out, but they kept their voice at a controlled volume, if not slightly raised. Yet it was curious on what he mentioned. It’s been five years? Five years since he last saw them? No, that wasn’t it they had kept visiting him. Every day nearly...

However they flinch at his expression, but they don’t move away. Instead they scoot closer and soften their expression as their eyes fall in a familiar closed look that they paraded around with as a child. 

“It hasn’t been five years.. No, I kept visiting you. Trying to find a way to SAVE you... You and Chara..”

“wh-” Confused as he was, that didn’t last long when they made the fart noise with their hands.

Alright, that was kind of funny. He hasn’t had the energy to pull pranks as often himself, but this was still a decent surprise.

“alright, guess you got me.” Leaning on his arms, he stares at Dove as they have their moment of laughter. “got a kick out of that? what else are you gonna do.”

Score!

They got a smile out of him. This was looking good for them and now they’ve felt even more determined to show him that they’re not dangerous.

Dove recalls their hand back as they wipe an imaginary tear. “I did! Yer face was priceless!” They delve into another fit of giggles but quickly disperses it. 

Although they paused as they realized they had no idea what else they were going to do.

* You honestly did not think you would get this far you explain to the skeleton. 

“I was kinda expecting you to try and kill me again...” They mumble out, as they hug themselves and rub their arms to generate heat. “But since that’s not I want to show you that I really do mean it when I say I don’t want to fight so... I can keep you company?”

* You ask this to him instead of saying so. You are hopeful that he does not mind. 

Their foot stops mid-walk towards the flower as he turned to them. They expected to hear him yell at them like usual. Insult them and tell them if they had anything better to do and they would reply they didn't like simple clockwork. Like pre-scripted game dialogue.

Yet he looked confused. He stared at them almost like he was looking at a ghost. Was it Chara? Could he see them now?

* No, he shouldn't be able to. I'm dead, not a ghost monster.

The said ghost says in their mind. To the point like usual.

Frisk paused to stare down at Flowey with their golden eyes. Hurt flashes in them when he asks if he knew who they were. Did a RESET happen? They don't remember pressing the button, they kept their promise! And nothing made sense since he remembered their SAVES and RESETS!

"You don't remember me...?" Their voice warbles as they step closer and then kneel down on the ground near Flowey, not caring if their tights would get dirtied up.

"You remember me right?" The human clutches at their thin shirt, scared of his answer with eyes wide. "It's me, Frisk..." 

Trust is such a delicate thing. In this world of violence and death, it is incredibly hard to be able to trust someone who isn’t immediate family.

A stranger could say one thing, and turn around and hurt you one way or another. Call it fear, he calls it a sense of self preservation.

So he stares at that hand, a nagging feeling in the back of his skull tells him that, no, they won’t leave him alone now. Give an inch, they’ll take a mile.

He’s trapped, anyways, to endure the endless boredom of sentry duty. Better stay secluded and alone, though. The more monsters around, the more he is needed to keep his guard up. After all, being the low hp piece of exp he is, he’s still the older brother of Papyrus. Best to keep away, for both their sake.

Still, he hesitates, for a few long minutes in the stifling silence, before he finally sighs, weighs the options for the thirteenth time, and slowly reaches out his hand.

There’s just the barest hint of a tremor in his hand. He has, after all, been told plenty information about humans.

* The skeleton reaches out his hand. You eagerly reach out to take the boney hand within your soft, yet somewhat cold hands. You feel like you should have brought mittens.

“Sorry..” They breath out in a small voice, watching it freeze into a cloud before them. It’s a wonder they haven’t started freezing faster since they dropped in with what would be attire more appropriate for the spring time even if it is a thin long sleeved shirt

They bring up a hand up to their mouth, like they’re trying to warm up their hand but instead they inhale and...

PFFFFFFBBBBTTTTTH!!!

There’s silence before a couple of giggles come out before it turns into full on laughter from the human.

He agreed? He actually agreed!

* Your chest swells with joy. Perhaps something good can come of this.

Or at least, he did somewhat. He said next time he saw them though....

< Well then I won’t leave your sight. > It was such childish thinking, despite the fact they’re a young adult. 

They watch as he drums along at his station, pleasant to keep him company in this hellish upside down version of their Underground. It’s not super friendly and they’re still rather frightened of him (actually more so since he doesn’t seem to hold back on wanting to kill them compared to their own world), but they figured it would be better dealing with him than a certain fish monster...

They lift their hand up to him, offering him the olive branch as they continue to smile warmly. 

They sat outside with a warm mug between their hands. Judging from Dove’s expression they look quite... Stressed and tired... 

* Smells like bones. And blood.

Their head lifts up calmly, or calmly for someone who was told they’re escorted to the King or have forced used on them if they resist. His voice is loud like they remember, but it has a rougher edge to it. And it’s a lot less friendly like the Papyrus they know.

< Papyrus? Is that you? > they sign out, their eyes closed shut, yet their tilted to his direction.
