Do What You Want, Not What Society Tells You

When you’re young, navigating your way through life is difficult enough as it is. Then, along the way, we are presented with obstacles that essentially shape us into the person we are to become. One of these obstacles comes in the shape of society, the people that surround us on a day to day basis and their expectations and assumptions of what paths we should or will take. Do we really need to view society as an object, though? Or can we break out of this cycle?

Staying Optimistic Throughout the Year

Avoiding burnout: the exhausting fight. I used to struggle to balance school, work, and a social life. I remember waking up early for class four days a week, and heading to work after school with an hour of break in between. I got home late, when I would be exhausted and in no mood to do my homework. Having fun with my friends was a luxury that I managed to squeeze in on Friday nights before I dedicated my Saturdays and Sundays to studying. This was not a completely unhappy time for me as I making good use of my time, but as the weeks went by, I got more and more exhausted. The end of the quarter could not come quicker, and I was counting down the days to a break.

Keeping New Year’s Resolutions

First and foremost, happy 2016 everyone! I’m sure that almost all of us can agree that 2015 was a crazy year full of twists and turns and that 2016 is definitely a year of growth. With that being said, a new year means new beginnings, a time to reflect and become more aware of the person we’re becoming and the person we want to be.
