No, really, he’s running from a witcher. That’s not exactly good chances for a bard?

Anyway, he’s running (more like stumbling) through the forest at break neck speed, trying to put as much distance between himself and Geralt before the man notices that Jaskier had up and fled their inn.

Not to mention drug him.

And had Jaskier mentioned how incredibly tricky it is to drug a witcher in the first place? Especially Geralt, who can literally smell his bullshit from miles away.

So thanks to Eskel (and Jaskier really hopes Geralt won’t skewer the poor man for it) he’s currently booking it down a muddy forest path after the horse he’d... lend... from the stables had thrown him off after about three fourths of the way.

He’d briefly considered taking Roach, knowing with absolute certainty that she’d find her way back to Geralt eventually.

Zombie!Jaskier

He was bitten only a few weeks into the apocalypse, screaming and kicking away from the thing that had sunk its teeth into the soft flesh of his lower arm. First came the fever, leaving him delirious. A semi-conscious state in which he’d slunk away from Geralt—passed out from trying to stop the disease spreading through Jaskier— looking grieved even in slumber. Then came the seizures, wrecking his body somewhere in the woods, far enough away from the camp to not be a threat. And finally, after seemingly endless hours of agony— Death. And then his Un-Death, in which he gets up, shivering, ravenous, and.... not a mindless monster at all. Shit.

Wendigo!Jaskier

(A man-eating creature/evil spirit originating from the lore of First Nations Algonquian tribes. They are associated with winter, coldness, famine and starvation, thus often described as incredibly thin, bones visibly pushing out against skin. Wendigo are also commonly said to possess inhuman speed and the capability to mimic human voices flawlessly, using this skill to draw in their victims.)

Old wounds still pull painfully when he stretches his wings that day at the cliff. So many beings had tried to kill him for so long, to take from him the treasures accumulated over centuries, the things carefully hoarded and tucked away beneath a lonely mountain. Yet, what managed to utterly destroy him in the end didn’t even actively try to, didn’t even seek to possess his riches. He roars and launches himself off the cliff, setting fire to the trees beneath. A dragon does not handle grief very well.

He wasn‘t born, he was made; by wars, catastrophes and the human desire to destroy and consume. He came into existence like a nuclear bomb detonating, with all the force of an atom being split in two.

Church Grim!Jaskier

Protector of cemeteries, often taking the form of a big black dog. Church Grims are supposedly created when a creature is the first to be buried under a newly built church‘s floor, forced to lead the dead through the veil and protect the cemetery against any desecrators. Often, to spare honest folk the agony of serving for all eternity, an animal is buried alive under the church. Another variant of the tale says a human heart gets cut out and put in a dead animal‘s chest, and the carcass then gets buried, thus creating the cursed guardian.
