Light Tread

One does not walk into the forest and accuse the trees of being off-center, Nor do they visit the shore and call the waves imperfect. So why do we look at ourselves this way?

Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light.

Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I hope she’ll be a fool – that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.

Running efficiently demands good technique, and running efficiently for 100 miles demands great technique. But the wonderful paradox of running is that getting started requires no technique. None at all. If you want to become a runner, get onto a trail, into the woods, or on a sidewalk or street and run. Go 50 yards if that’s all you can handle. Tomorrow, you can go farther.

There are those of us who are always about to live. We are waiting until things change, until there is more time, until we are less tired, until we get a promotion, until we settle down, until, until, until. It always seems as if there is some major event that must occur in our lives before we begin living.

This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.

My greatest fear is that I am intelligent enough to know what I want but not intelligent enough to achieve it.
