Tea Time

Cutting it close again with another of @gemsona-hq‘s monthly gemsona challenge. When I saw May’s gem was fossil coral I got excited. I designed this character last year so I polished him up for this month’s challenge.

But why did I choose petoskey stone instead of fossil coral? Fossil (or fossilized) coral is a vague term that could be used for different varieties. Petoskey stone happens to be one of them!

Petoskey Stone is a grumpy and bitter gem who has a deep hatred for gem kind. He was once a respected member of an elite group who aided Homeworld with their incredible knowledge. Petoskey Stone felt used and expendable, growing tired of gems only visiting him to exploit his wisdom. He permanently changed his form to make himself unapproachable and escaped to uninhabited planets. All he wants is to be away from society and live by himself, but gems from Homeworld have been trying to coax him to come back. So far, their efforts have been in vain as Petoskey Stone uses his wit and abilities to elude them.
