one finger, black to the tip, traced around her mug. the rest of their friends, their team, all chatting amongst themselves in the crowded bar. it was no secret crowds made imogen uncomfortable, they had since everyone met and while fearne was.... possibly joking, she was very serious about knowing a quiet spot where the other could get away from the crowd a bit.
" well yeah. if you want. " ball in her court of course. fearne will flirt but she would never force anyone to take her up on her offers. she moved a bit closer on the bench, batting her eyes at the woman with purple hair. " i know you and laudna have a bit of a... thing, but i've felt like maybe after sleeping in the same bed, you might have a little bit of a thing for me? a different kind, that's okay of course. we don't have to be in love to have a little bit of fun. "
over the years, she'd gotten better at pulling voices out of crowds, despite the fact that her head was always rolling with voice after voice after voice. fearne's soft, sultry tone was easy to hold on to, so she subtly leaned a bit forward in her chair as she listened to the other woman talk. try as she might, there was no denying the blush she felt on her cheeks, the warmth at the back of her neck. she was not used to people and much less used to friends, especially the flirty kind. but, she would be lying if she said getting away didn't sound like a good idea.
the tavern was getting more full, the people more drunk. imogen distantly heard some stranger think a wildly inappropriate comment and she resisted the urge to shudder. she wouldn't admit to her and laudna having a thing -- she wasn't sure if they did, or if she was willing to think about it to hard, anyway -- so she didn't. rather, she just smiled and nodding. "that sounds lovely, actually. it's getting a bit..." she waved her hands, as though a hand gesture could properly capture what she felt. "... crowded."
plus, she couldn't remember the last time she had fun. when was the last time she wasn't trapped in someone's head, either her own or a stranger's? it hadn't been long, but she almost couldn't remember a time when her mother's voice screaming RUN, IMOGEN wasn't playing on a constant loop in her head. with that in mind, she took a quick sip of her drink and stood up. she sent a brief message to laudna to let her know she was heading out and to enjoy her night, then turned to fearne and said; "lead the way."

without the voices in her head, imogen was left alone with her own thoughts. she'd almost forgotten how they were; deceiving, tormenting, like her own mother's manipulation was bleeding into her mind. it was what had her so distracted when the other woman spoke to her. vex'ahlia had earned her respect, not unlike the other people they'd met along their travels. she was being shown around the estate; the rest of her party was listening intently to the stories being shared, but she found it hard to shake herself out of her own head.
that's when she realized that vex'ahlia was looking right at her, coming up on the end of a story, while the rest of her party was occupied elsewhere. how far in her head had she been? embarrassed, she felt warmth in her cheeks rush in like a rolling storm. she didn't want to come off as rude, of course, but it was hard to be in her head when she was pulled in so many different directions.
it was no excuse, though. if she wanted to fight it (did she?) she had to be present in this world. "it sounds like you've seen and experienced a lot more than i have," she replied, her accent thick as ever. she mentally shook the fog from her mind, focusing instead on the woman in front of her, on the home they'd been graciously allowed to stay in for now. her head turned, glancing around, taking in the room they were in, the books lining the shelves. "it really is a beautiful place. sorry we're so... distracted these days."

but you know i'd stand on the corner, embarrassed with a picket sign, if it meant i would see you when i die. sometimes when i can't sleep, (it's just a matter of time before i'm hearing things, swore i could feel you through the walls but that's impossible. i want to believe that if i go outside i'll see a tractor beam coming to take me to where i'm from. i want to go home.

i don't really come here anymore but some of the takes on the "I am disgusted with delilah" thing from the last episode indicate that some of you see delilah as way more intrinsic to laudna than she actually is
like this is not "imogen is disgusted with an immutable part of laudna", this is "imogen is disgusted that laudna's abuser has taken such a chokehold of her life that she can see their intimate moments and there's nothing either of them can do about it"
