🌱Growth🌱 I’m loving seeing the plants growing and coming to life around her. I couldn’t decide whether to sketch the plants out in pencil first... in the end, I decided to paint freehand and make up the positions as I go. ✨This painting really means a lot to me as it’s marking the start of personal growth... It feels as though my eyes are being opened and I’m finally able to see the colours properly. I made a quite a big mistake with her face at the beginning (second pic) and it’s probably because I wasn’t truly focusing on or connecting with the painting. ☕️There’s something so satisfying about a messy apron. I don’t participate in ‘muddy’ sports, therefore I’m pretty much always making an effort to avoid getting marks on my clothes. It’s really freeing to just let go, allowing paint to splatter on the ground, my clothes, my skin. The concept is for the viewer to reflect upon their own interpretation… but I’ll let you in on what I see when I stare at this piece… Reflection is a practice of elevation; you look upon the past, learn from mistakes and learn to appreciate the small things that may have gone overlooked. The gold embodies the word ‘Power’. The pensive girl is surrounded by textured gold acrylic to portray the endless strength emanating from her mind. Wrapped in a towel, I loved the slight vulnerability shown… and I love that it does not mean she is weak. ✨Feb 2017✨ It really doesn’t feel like long ago to be honest but so much has changed in such a short time.
