Aprilis︎ // illustration It's interesting to look into the origin of calendar months and how they came to be named. There is usually a backstory which is linked to seasons or myths. In Latin, the month April is called ‘Aprilis’. The name is said to have come from ‘Aperire’, meaning ‘to open’ or ‘bloom’, while some argue that it has a connection to the Greek goddess of beauty and fertility, Aphrodite.

Scarlet ⚔︎ // illustration One of my favourite works from last year. It was featured on several prints on my website.
Most of my art revolves around open spaces or skies so I wanted to draw this in an indoor setting. There is a crimson touch here along with a story of a mysterious lady wielding double Katanas!

Zephyr // illustration A natural evolution from the simple idea of a paper flower and the cycle of seasons. 'Zephyr' is a gentle breeze of early summer or spring, evoking a sense of tranquility and calm. I chose a color palette somewhere between the fading chill of winter and the warmth of new beginnings. जलहारी / Jalahari - Water Bearer // Art Process Paintings and posters of women carrying water pots through rural India are a familiar sight. In many villages, fetching water from wells, ponds, or rivers remains a daily chore for women. This is often seen as a symbol of resilience, tradition and cultural heritage, with women carrying multiple pots and/or balancing them on their heads.
While access to sustainable water resources has improved over the years, the reality is that many still lack clean, running water, particularly on the outskirts of urban areas. As a result, countless women and girls bear the burden—sacrificing education, enduring harsh weather, and facing systemic inequalities.
This imagery, though deeply woven into tradition, should eventually belong only to art, perhaps like this one, and preserved as a cultural memory rather than an accepted reality of modern life. Check out my instagram for more
