i’m a relatively chill person so i don’t have too too many rules, but some of them do relate to my portrayal! i play luffy both pre-timeskip and post-timeskip, depending on request! though if not specified i’ll just default to whichever seems like the best fit to me. keep in mind that pre-timeskip luffy is 17 and post-timeskip luffy is 19! 

for those not really that familiar with one piece who would prefer something a bit more removed from that world’s context, i also have a modern verse for luffy where he’s set at his post-timeskip age, although i still portray him with his rubber powers in this verse! (shenanigans is the reason, i presume.)

for you one piece fans, i keep up to date with the manga, though i have not seen all of the anime filler or films. i’m usually always making my way through some of that in my spare time!

aaaand without further ado, here are my rules! they may change at basically any time but i’m pretty lax. just make sure to give them a glance and maybe like this post if you’ve read the whole thing!

i portray luffy as asexual, so he's not interested in anything irt smutty rp (and i won’t do smut for this reason, not that i would do smth like that with pre-timeskip luffy in any case regardless, because he’s underage).

 i tentatively portray him as bi, romance-wise, but he's not exactly interested in that either! which is to say, i'm very VERY tentatively open to exploring a ship should it develop extremely convincingly, but romance is not one of his priorities, nor is it something that comes easily to him! so don't expect to ship very easily with luffy.

Most would probably be content, at this point, to ask some major questions. Why help him? A pirate? She worked for the Marines, after all! Scourge to pirates everywhere, etc. etc. etc.

But Luffy had no curiosity to sate when it came to this. He already saw himself as friends with all of G-5, even if their official position was to never acknowledge such a thing. For what it was worth, though, it was nice that the world government didn’t have eyes literally everywhere, because it allowed them moments of invisible camaraderie like this. It was true back on Punk Hazard, and it was true now, too. Luffy grinned big as Tashigi wrapped the cloth around his wound.

“Thanks! It’ll be okay, though. Usually I just shake these off.” That is...not how that works (Luffy’s physiology is just, frankly, freakish).

One would expect that he’d be exuberant about this sort of thing, in all honesty, not shy to display his affection. But for Luffy, moments of quiet, face to face intimacy like this (quite literally) are hard to come by. He never sits still, he’s always a group person, so it only goes to show how special it was that he handle this situation correctly, for Usopp to be able to wrangle him down like this. Surely this was about the difficulties they’d had over the past stretch of their journey, the one that threatened to tear not one, but two of them from their newly burned ship. It was lucky, then, that Franky had accounted for so much in his plans for the Sunny, it gave them plenty of space to hide away like this.

Presently, entering upon this conversation wouldn’t elucidate much about what they’d discussed. One could probably only hear that muttering Luffy was doing, so close to the sharpshooter’s face as he did so.

“...There’s no way I coulda’ turned around and left you behind without a second thought. I don’t just wanna go on cool adventures...I wanna go on them with everyone. And that means you, too. You’re here...you’re?” He fidgets, clearly having trouble articulating his thoughts. Luffy is better versed in feeling his emotions than putting them to words. “...You’re my people. You’re part of home to me. If you were just gone, what’d I do then? I’d just stop...! I need you here...” 

There’s a lull there, the kind that implies direction or hesitation. Some kind of follow-up inevitably to follow. At least, it would, if it weren’t for Chopper suddenly entering, wondering where the bathroom is.

Oh, hi, way to touch a nerve. Not Zoro himself, obviously, Luffy would never blame him for getting hurt on his behalf, if anything it only stirs Luffy to action. Harshly. Reactively. Maybe even a bit overreactively. It was no grand secret that sacrificial acts were a button to press as far as Luffy was concerned, and there was good reason for it considering who he’d lost to similar circumstances (and how). Not a second passes between the injury itself and breath catching harshly in his throat, pupils dilating as he flies forward, knuckles grinding into the offender’s facial features like a truck hitting gravel.

“Hands off!!” He spits through clenched teeth, voice low and raspy through grunts of anger. In just that split second, all of the weight and impact behind his blow would flow from his hands to the other’s head, sending them flying, before he doubled back to catch Zoro before he fell.

Like sticking one’s hand into a bear-trap, isn’t it? Of course, thankfully, for his people it wouldn’t go off. In fact, Sanji is one of very few who could probably get away with this without Luffy getting haphazard about his chewing -- which is all the same, because Luffy isn’t the type to often take his eating slow and really savor what it is he’s scarfing down. Sanji feeding him like this kind of forces him to pace himself, experience the actual flavor a bit more than usual, which suffice to say is overwhelmingly good (it’s Sanji’s food, after all).

             He listens to him, nodding lightly as he paused to yawn and stretch with his free arm before leaning back and maneuvering the other as Chopper gave him signals, steel grey eyes glancing down to the doctor sometimes as he listened to the other speak nodding softly.

‘ You should name one after a polar bear, they’re pretty cool. ’ He suggests as the other continues his speech, huffing and puffing as he raises brows a bit.

‘ And what did he do again? To deserve you to use a full haki grizzly magnum on again? I was watching the ship remember? You have to give me all the details, or else I can’t agree with you. ’

That’s not a bad idea, actually! Man, missed opportunity back when they were on Drum Island, then, huh? Oh well, maybe if they ever go back. 

“Aah--? Oh yeah!” He had forgotten, actually. When Luffy is in the middle of the fight, he tends to become very focused on that small, concentrated area or, at most, the environment around them. Any extraneous thoughts (barring of course, the safety of those around him) tend to get pushed to the back of his mind until after the fact. 

“He was prattling on and on about how he was gonna be King of the Pirates, but he was a total coward! He kept throwing his crew in front of him! Said they were just stepping stones on his way there...ugh, I hate guys like that. They just have no idea what they’re talking about.” He grumbles. If there’s one thing that instantly got Luffy going, it was disloyal control-freaks, they were his least favorite kind of person.

Fortunately, of the few things Luffy can seem to keep stored in his brain at a time, this was one of them! Chalk it up to repetition, maybe, because otherwise he’d likely have spent a good few minutes stressing himself to remember what exactly Shanks was referring to.

〖☠〗– “LUFFY!” Yep, he’s rocketing after him with flames on his heels. “GET BACK HERE!”

            He allows this, large hands grabbing around the others waist so he isn’t easily able to get out, though knowing Luffy the texture of his hair will keep him distracted for a bit, allowing cheeks to gently be squished lightly, giving a small hum as he listened.

         ‘ I did see it. ’ He responds chuckling softly shifting and pulling back so that Chopper can get at a spot on the others side.

‘ Hmm, in the air? Maybe, unless he’s fallen. I doubt it though, you did what was it called? A bear magnum? ’ He questions, squinting lightly, forgetting on purpose so that he could keep the other talking. 

And, of course, it works exactly as intended. Despite how often silly they can sound, Luffy puts an...interesting amount of thought into his various attack names, which is somewhat worth noting considering how little he puts into most other things that he probably should be putting equal (if not more) thought into.

“Ahhh-- so close! It’s a Grizzly Magnum, but a grizzly is a bear, so...” As if that weren’t obvious. He’s fully enveloped in the topic, by now, so any further work at his side would slip right past his periphery. When he gets like this, he’s practically in his own little world, which is just a testament to how well Zoro knows him at this point.

〖☠〗– “Luffy.” He took a step forward. Boy, you better run or fess up. “You got five seconds.”

There he goes, grappling the nearest tree to fling himself as far away as he can.
