I strongly ship Jo and Friedrich and adore platonic Laurie and Jo; here's why.

Friedrich's temperament and personality balances out Jo's. He's a quiet and thoughtful person and Jo's vibrancy offsets that beautifully. They also are deeply in love with literature, the opera, politics, and teaching. They share the same values and are different enough in personality that they can very easier build a life together.

Laurie on the other hand is really similar to Jo when it comes to personality. She points this out when he proposes to her: they're both incredibly stubborn and bicker because of that. Laurie and Jo also have a similar playfulness too. But, they don't share the same interests. Laurie has no passion for education or reading like Jo does; he views it as a chore. Their dynamic is definitely better suited for friendship over marriage.

I agree. Jo needs to end up with someone who's just as quirky, awkward, intellectual, and unconventional as she is, which she does.
