With the whole conversation surrounding Hudson Williams and racism, not only in the fandom but also in the rest of entertainment industry, it is why it is so important to address this, even in the show itself. Shane Hollander is a white name but looking at him it’s clearly that he’s Asian (I know, he’s half white and half Asian).
It’s 100% guaranteed that he has experienced racism throughout his career, especially as a hockey player. Both subtle and really out there experiences. I know they had a few subtle mentions of this in the show and I’ve read the books - not so much there.
Here’s the thing: I don’t want subtle anymore, I want them to show the reality of a lot of poc athletes because this happens in real life. Not only to athletes but almost everyone in every profession. This is the reality for a lot of us.
