Just…why??? Why do you hate him so much??? He’s just some guy from Florida who runs a cool minecraft server and shit. Every time I think it over I can’t find anything worse than any other random youtuber has done. And yet it’s like the whole internet thinks he murdered someone.

And, so, ok the main points people usually bring up when they say they hate him are 1) his fanbase 2) he cheated on speedrunning and 3) he’s racist, homophobic, etc

On the first point, his fanbase is big. Big fanbases spiral into toxicity and there’s genuinely no way around that. Also 90% of the toxicity is concentrated on twitter. I don’t understand why people get mad at his tumblr fanbase who, aside from like three isolated incidents I can think of, have never really done anything toxic especially to people outside the fandom. And if you’re mad that the fans “always make everything about it” then, again, that’s just big fandom stuff, and that has nothing to do with the guy himself.

On the second thing, this debate has happened like a thousand times but to put it plainly: it’s a block game. Even if he did purposely cheat, it really doesn’t matter that much. Also, most people don’t watch him for that, they watch him for his personality and his interactions with his friends.

On the last thing…I don’t know where this assumption came from. Like, yeah he’s had a couple controversies ig but so has literally every youtuber. And in comparison to others especially in gaming he’s definitely one of the most apologetic and considerate ccs when he does inevitably make mistakes. And his fanbase is one of the most diverse and accepting ones I’ve ever been in. By far.

Idk I just cannot make sense of the hatred people have for him. So much that people use as evidence of him being a bad person is either exaggerated or just a straight up bold faced lie. I don’t understand it. Why do so many people WANT to hate him. Cause any time you show these people “hey this guy isn’t actually bad, no one’s hurt or that upset, we’re ok” they get…upset. Angry. Idk it just rubs me the wrong way. Why do you want people to say they’re hurt by him?

His music video was just a retelling of his personal experience. And on that same day he did a video with Anthony Padilla saying he threw away his meds cause he hated how they affected him. He said it wasn’t a good thing to throw them out like he did and that he wouldn’t recommend doing so. Even in the video itself, the action isn’t framed as good necessarily but more of an act of desperation. I’d hardly call this “telling his fans to throw their pills away”. What a gross exaggeration of a situation.

And on the other thing…are you talking about Pewdiepie?? He made a video on finding the seed from his survival world well over a year ago. He had no context with the guy himself, the video was about the mechanisms used to find the seed that were revolutionary within the minecraft community. Other than that…he’s been in a couple among us lobbies with the guy but honestly that barely even makes them acquaintances.

tbh it seems as if you’ve done exactly what I talked about in the original post. Listened to what some rando had to say on the situation and didnt actually look into things. Exaggerated things to make you seem more justified in your hatred.

Tbh this is why I’m so frustrated on this topic. The level of misinfo especially on tumblr about Dream is staggering. That one google doc detailing his “wrongdoings” is almost entirely made up bs and what little truth there is there has already been addressed a long time ago.

I just… everyone fucks up when they’re growing up bc you don’t know better, even if you try otherwise, but doing that in this culture of having to be perfect and flawless or else? I’d be terrified, just because I need that fandom outlet and the fact if I messed up it could be taken away in an instant and I would be deemed a bad person on a personal and moral level is horrifying.

everybody needs an escape, but it seems like fandom there is so inundated with discourse and real life issues that I can never imagine it being an escape like I had when I grew up. I use fandom to escape how fucking awful real life is, but so many fandom twts I see are like 80% carrds and threads or ppl shaming others for not engaging in them.

And after everything's said and done, the disc on his shirt gets...scratched
