"Hi!" She looks up too brightly, champagne in one hand as Marisol slides over to make room for the Cuban Princess on the couch. the wind felt like it was trying to shove them down the mountain and roxana tried to jam her ski poles further into the mountain. "that looks too steep. they told us to go right, didn't they? droit." she said it in french, exactly at the attendant at the lift had said. roxana looked at the blonde, taking her eyes off the steep, narrow path did not help. "can we go back up?" @aribraganca
she followed close behind, arms still folded across her torso. “ yes, i had ginger tea. i find it works better for nausea. ” maybe she should help herself to some mint tea, anyway, now that she was, once again, feeling queasy. hand gestured at the dish of capuns on the kitchen island, before she took her seat. “ they’re like dumplings, i suppose. or cabbage rolls but with chard instead. inside is a mix of dough and, um, a type of swiss cured meat called bündnerfleisch. the sauce is bouillon, cream and cheese. ” she moved one of the dinner plates closer to roxana. “ i was craving them badly, so i asked the chef to make it. try some, see if you like it. ”
roxana raised an eyebrow at the empty room before she turned, putting on a pleasant smile. she wasn't sure it sounded good at all but she would try it. for ticiano. roxana took the plate with a quite thank you and put one of her plate before she sat, picking up a fork. "have you been staying here since the wedding?" she asked, conversationally. "i assumed everyone had either got to the afterparty or gone back to morroco. i only stared because i had meetings I'd rather take in person."

"my brother tells me you've been spending time together," she sat, her voice light, it wasn't an accusation, it was an opening. roxana knew what was really going on, she wondered if marisol would guess that.
as embarrassed and compromised as she felt, sylvie resolved to keep things light-hearted. smile widened at roxana’s acceptance, followed by a coy laugh. “ i hope you don’t mind me joining you. i haven’t had anything to eat — i was feeling sick all morning. ” perhaps that would earn her a pardon. “ have you had capuns before? ”
"that's fine," roxana said mostly because she couldn't refuse. now she'd have to chat. "you have tried some tea for your stomach? i know ticiano keeps some mint tea around here." she lead sylvie into the kitchen, setting down her bag by the counter. "i haven't. what is it?"
" oh. hi. " arms folded across her stomach, suddenly feeling exposed in only a borrowed button-down shirt a few sizes too big. " he'll be out in a bit. " he, roxana's brother ; he, sylvie's ... ? " have you eaten? there's brunch in the kitchen, if you would care for some. " ( @roxanadclcon )
interesting. though not altogether unexpected. she didn't quite manage a smile but her demeanor was less closed off than usual. "oh, it's fine. i wasn't really looking for him." i'm just hiding from my mother. roxana tilted her head, "that would be nice, thanks." being offered a meal in her brother's house by his ... something was strange.
"It seems things got a whole lot interesting," Ticiano tipped his head towards the two rushing bodies that fled in opposite directions. "I didn't think he would continue to shit where he eats but I guess it'll serve us well." He cocked his head to the side with a low hum. "I just wonder if he fucked her or did a line with her. Rumor says that Croy is a little cracked." @roxanadclcon
roxana looked up at her brother, she'd been quieter than usual tonight, simply because she felt out of place. but this she could do, gossip and bitching about arthur was old hat at this point. "really? look at you, getting the dirt before i do." she smiled and nudged him gently. "isn't she exes with the french king? he really does seem to think he can play with the big guns. do you think grandfather has an upper limit for indiscretions?"
" WHY AM I SEEING SO MUCH BLACK ? is this a funeral ? no ! "
"I think people are still mourning the deaths from the incident. I thought that it was an italian custom to wear black for an extended period after death."
"maybe you should have specified a dress code. but it's not your party." it was a murmur, standing next to helena, who she at least knew so it didn't feel like she was unmoored in front of the whole world.

"i've never thought of myself as a knitter, and i don't necessarily intend to now." he sighed, looking towards his cup then the other. "perhaps i should delve into horticulture or take up polo again."
"both perfectly acceptable hobbies for a high society gentleman with average to too much time on his hands. polo would probably age you less than horticulture though."
"I did and I fear that it will be the edge he needs to both unite and divide the country. You already know those who will submit out of fear of being smothered whilst others will have the taste of rebellion." Ticiano's levity had been strung together with gum and the need to keep Roxana from worrying about what will come next. His smile warmed at the way she had taken initiative even when he didn't ask her to. He reached over the pat her head. "That was a good first step, Xana." Laying back on his elbows, he pondered the question for a moment knowing that every step forward would need to be delicate. "I worry that he shares the same fatal flaws as his father and will attempt to harm you. Your reputation we can fix but my impending arrest after murdering him for even breathing wrong in your direction will be harder." He couldn't help but retain that same easy going grin at her inquiry. "She doesn't need the guts to hurt him, she just needs to tell me everything she knows about his plans. That takes a little more confidence and companionship, don't you think? It's been a while since you've gone out on the town, right? You should ask her out...make her comfortable and I'll do the rest."
"turns out more people than i thought. i still don't understand mother's obsession. we have perfect control- no, equilibrium, in cuba. you don't have to worry about what other stakeholders are doing. i don't think grandfather is paying attention to arthur or his own government. he's certainly not paying attention to me in the south." she shook her head and sat up, taking ticiano's face in her hands so he would have to look at her. the idea, even the light hypothical of ticiano going anywhere, made her anxious. "no, you're not going to do that. i don't care what he does to me. i'll be fine. he's an ass, not stupid. but you, even father couldn't talk you out of jail, and then you'd be gone." and then she'd be alone in the world with no one to hide behind. oh, he was so sure this would work, and of course, it involved her doing something she hated. she leaned back again, grabbing a leaf-shaped pillow and squishing it. she made a face like he'd just made a distasteful joke. "you want me to befriend her. she seems so...nice. i might break her."

she narrowed her eyes minutely. europeans. did this woman think she could out brat roxana? it was adorable. she would simply dig her heels in harder. roxana took a seat. "no, i think i like it here. i'll stay." she leaned back in her chair, legs outstretched and ankles crossed, as easy as if she was at a cafe in havana. she had a book in her bag but instead just wiled away the minutes, people-watching, fidgeting, and humming to herself. Plausibily keeping to herself while being obnoxious.

"if you think she has the guts to hurt him. what do we need to do?"
