Timmy wondered if this pizza place was somewhere they were likely to get murdered on Knockturn, though these days getting murdered just about anywhere seemed like a possibility. Not a thought he wanted to focus on at the moment, especially not with a gang member hanging out in his kitchen. Maybe all the food would slow him down if he decided to violently rob Timmy after all. But hopefully Bertieās assessment would hold true. The bloke sure didnāt seem like he meant any harm here, even if he was wiping out their supply of leftovers. āOf course,ā he answered, surprised at Rottyās skepticism about cream and sugar in coffee. āItās way better than drinking it black.ā Timmy didnāt know who Nina was but she sounded like she had the right idea on coffee. Timmy should have known better than to offer the sugar; there was something else heād have to refill. It was another surprise when Rotty sat down across from him. Timmy had expected him to leave once he was done eating, or at least go back to Bertieās room. But apparently he was going to sit here and talk to Timmy. Okay. This was good, probably. Someone else in their house out to know the bloke Bertie was so into, aside from Benjyās brief encounters with the bloke in Knockturn. It was a surprise to hear the houses compared to gangs, though maybe this bloke had a point about them all sticking mostly to their own. āEr ā yeah, sort of? I mean, we all lived in Ravenclaw Tower and shared a common room. And we ate together in the Great Hall. And we had most of our classes together until sixth year. But there were also some clubs that had people from every house, and a lot of people had mates outside their houses. Drewās best mate was a Slytherin.ā Best mate didnāt quite describe that one anymore, but it had seemed like the case in school whether or not it actually had been. Timmy regarded Rotty for a moment the decided not to worry about asking a potentially rude question since this bloke didnāt seem to have many inhibitions or manners for that matter. Timmy wasnāt really sure what sorts fo things gang members were allowed to talk about, other than the one Benjy and his other mates were in that they werenāt allowed to talk about at all, really. āAre you allowed to talk to people in other gangs?ā He asked, pure curiosity; how often did you have coffee with a gang member? āHowās that work?āĀ
Rotty was still skeptical about Timmyās suggestion despite his insistence that it was better. āIād look like a tosser going around trying to get cream for my coffee. Everyoneād probably think Iād gone soft too.ā Which was even worse than looking like a tosser. Heād stick with black. Wasnāt like he was drinking it cause it was tasty anyway. Still would have been better with a biscuit or five. Rotty couldnāt really complain about that since their biscuit shortage seemed to be thanks to him. Did make him miss Bertieās mum who always seemed to have a plentiful supply on hand. Heād never met her but she seemed like a good sort between that and Bertie being a good sort himself. While he admittedly was curious about Hogwarts he was more so about Bertie. But Rotty wasnāt sure how to go about asking about Bertie so he went with the school since he figured he had a choice between staring at Timmy or chatting. Rotty was always more of a chatter. He recognized most of what Timmy was saying from talking to Bertie and some from his mam. Rotty couldnāt remember if Slytherin were the rotten ones or the cocky ones. Either one seemed weird for some posh, smart bloke to be mates with but he assumed thatās why Timmy mentioned it. Rotty laughed when Timmy asked if he was allowed to talk to other gangs. Not at Timmy but at the idea of talking to any of those idiots. āI mean theyāre all idjeets so I dunno why anyone would wanna. But nah, reckon thatād get you in heaps of trouble if you decided to go chat up the enemy.ā He couldnāt see Kaz letting something like that go, way worse than Rotty chatting up Bertie. āEven if it were allowed, probably be best to stick to your own. Donāt have to worry about saying something you shouldnāt or getting someone killed. Better that way. āSides like I said theyāre all a bunch of idjeets. If they were smart theyād be Crows wouldnāt they?ā Rotty thought about asking Timmy if he was in the gang Bertie and the healer were but Bertie had said it was secret so he didnāt wanna out him if Timmy didnāt know. āYou know how to do any curses with that thing,ā he asked instead, gesturing to Timmyās wand.
