But Dennis doesn’t trust any of the Cody’s, doesn’t trust anyone really, except Andrew. And Andrew has a bit of a blindspot when it comes to family. So, he lands in Pittsburgh, but never arrives at Jacks. He doesn’t want to get burned.

He survives with what he has and what he can steal. Jack and Andrew both wonder what happened to him. Dennis plans to wait out the six years, hopefully by then he’ll be a resident and able to fly back to Oceanside, back to Andrew.

His plans going well until he starts his rotation in the Pitt. The day had been shitty all around, but then a mass shooting happens and is brought face to face with the spitting image of Andrew. It can only be Jack.

He hates her because he can hear Santos crying late at night and already knows who is to blame. Santos has rose colored glasses around her, but he doesn’t. He can see how cruel she is to his best friend.

He hates how Garcia never cares about how Santos feels, how she walks all over her just because she can. He watches and realizes that Garcia genuinely sees Trinity as less than her, like she’s nothing more than, as she so aptly put it, a stress ball.

Dennis fully intends to wait for Pope to get out, to visit and call as much as possible, but the police are sniffing around the remaining Cody's and Pope, unwilling to have Dennis be anywhere near his family without him able to protect her, tells her to leave. To get as far away from Oceanside as she can and to forget about him. And she refuses, obviously, adamant that she's not going to abandon him, that she can look after herself. But Pope starts refusing to see her, refusing to accept her calls. And his family starts giving her the cold shoulder, awkward pauses where there weren't any before.

And then she finds out she's pregnant, and she's all alone with this massive change in her life in a place that's becoming downright hostile, and it's not quite admitting defeat, but it sure feels like it when she asks her university about transferring her degree to somewhere out of state. Obviously, it's Pittsburgh she ends up in.
