Unpopular Marnie Opinions - Accepting!

oh i absolutely agree. it would fit her a lot better and it would let her actually keep the iconic jacket look. marnie’s gym leader outfit looks completely different to her normal one in a way that doesn’t really reflect her character development.

not to mention the fact that her outfit is…a bit uncomfortable given the fact that in canon marnie is probably like 14-16??? it shows off a lot of skin for no real reason…like nessa’s outfit does too but she’s a swimmer and a model so it makes sense in-story at least. marnie’s gym leader outfit doesn’t reflect what punk fashion actually looks like, or much of anything about spikemuth. it legitimately makes me kinda uncomfortable that someone designed that outfit and thought it was a good idea to give it to marnie when the pokemon fandom already has a history of sexualizing minors, especially the girls. it adds a lot of fuel to that fire.

my interpretation of marnie doesn’t even own that top; instead, she wears a shirt similar to piers’, and a leather jacket above that. marnie’s jacket is practically a comfort item for her, and she wears it almost all the time - even in the summer.
