In a very real way though my pov is that his family knew he would be the star he is and so taught him to keep some of himself private. It’s smart, and as someone with a famous cousin who talks about this stuff, it’s what you need to do to remain sane when you are in the public eye. Mack’s ability to keep his personal and professional lives so separate is remarkably healthy and I really hope he can continue to do that.
