But it would be a lie, the most blatant, laughably false thing she could possibly claim. Because there is not a single part of Stevie that is not so irrevocably in love with Twyla Sands.

Somehow, she thinks, trying to deny it — as if she could — would only make her fall deeper, harder.

So, she breathes out slowly through her nose, her gaze unmoving from the white popcorn texture of the ceiling. “Yes. Yes, I am.”

“Mm, I don’t know that I would call multiple hours on a bus fun? Considering the last time I did that my family had just lost all of our money and we had to move into a sketchy roadside motel.” Alexis yelps and when Jocelyn turns around she’s smiling brightly, Stevie leaning into the space between her and Twyla. “But, mm-hm, yes. I cannot wait.”

Look, it’s more sentimental than she likes to be, but… The truth is, Twyla has been the most consistent presence throughout her life — certainly the longest-lasting consistent presence. Twyla has just always been there, steady and smiling. Stevie can’t say that about many people. Her family is a total shit-show and, yeah, the Roses have been a steady presence almost since their arrival, but Twyla? Stevie can barely remember a time she couldn’t lean on Twyla.

After all of the lunches and coffees that she’s brought her all these years, Stevie figures she can handle one measly breakfast to show Twyla how she feels.

I have just discovered Schitt’s Creek fanfiction and am devouring it.  I am looking for any good (preferably long(ish)) hurt/comfort stories where Patrick and the others help David.  I love both physical and emotional hurt/comfort.   Love angst, etc.  Any good suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

first: given the hurt/comfort request, there are definitely a lot of potential content warnings in here, mind the tags

first, medical stuff: gonna start us off hot with Overreacting by codswallop (17k). and a self-rec from another_Hero, saying thank you and waving (11k), which is maybe a bit more of a Patrick fic, but it’s about his feelings about helping David?

if you dig aus, dameofpowellestate has one (49k) about Olympic diver David getting back to it after an injury: if i survive, i’ll dive back in. and hey, why not add Beneath the Winter Snow by Distractivate (28k), which is exes to lovers so there’s lots of hurt and lots of comfort, even if they kind of come from the same place (though there is also some very good Alexis in there).
