Art Gimmick Blog

The simplest breakdown really is that what most users class as a "gimmick blog" is just what 10 years ago we classed as a "roleplay blog" except for some reason that framing stopped being used, while the return to Tumblr as other sites flagged meant that users want to have a way to spend their time here. So you have the embroidery blog, Elvis, someone adding a letter of the alphabet to every post, and car identification all jockeying for attention on post reblogs, under the same umbrella.

I do consider myself a gimmick blog and rightfully so but irl I typically refer to this space as my "art blog" because it actually conveys meaning to whoever I'm talking to. And I usually see the reaction I get of "wow I don't like gimmicks but-" not as me being exceptional or whatever, but just that I'm posting art.
