the thing is, lagdonn boymoms or whatever seem to be living in an alternate timeline. is he a good character? yes, 100%. is he a good person? again, i'm inclined to say he is. but when the show has made it explicitly clear that his stealing drugs is somewhat of a secret and that not everyone knows about it, don't tell me obviously everyone knows because in real life they would. not everything is going to be 100% realistic all the time, it is a drama, it needs drama, and again... the show has made it abundantly clear that. additionally, like why are we taking him at face value when he says his addiction never affected his work? do people not remember when that patient was seizing for longer than they should have because the drugs were diluted? god, i think he's such an interesting character and i love his flaws and his story, but some of you in this fandom cannot look past the fact that he's hot.

we know he took medication from louie, we know the patient seized longer than they should have, and those are only two examples from ONE DAY, who knows who else was effected by his malpractice. i have nothing but empathy for his addiction (lord knows i have nothing against cassie who is 9 or 10 years sober, i think in season one it's mentioned she's almost 9 years sober, but it's mentioned again in season two that she is 9 years sober so i'm not sure what the timeline is on that) but how does his addiction possibly mean that he isn't culpable for his previous misdeeds? cassie even said in last week's episode (12) that just because you're high doesn't mean you can't be held responsible for your actions, so i have to image she, the recovering alcoholic, would agree that his addiction doesn't absolve him of wrongdoing. that's just not how it works.

as for the incarceration angle, since i've seen some people on here acting like santos fans are just horrible carceral state fanatics, no jail isn't the solution. what i am saying is that there are consequences for certain actions (or at least, there should be). in america, we have a white supremacist patriarchy, so white men often get a pass. and culturally, this is very true. i completely believe the santos hate is often forced since she is a woman, a woman of color, and a lesbian which puts her at the bottom of our hierarchy, but i'm not here to talk about that, i'm here to talk about how people should learn to live with langdon's flaws.
