âOh donât worry. Itâll find itâs way back.â
âMâsorry, buâ I donâ think thaâs how books work.â
Jess looked up at the man in front of her, eyes wide. âI donât want to go to a nurse. They donât know about this, and Iâd rather keep it that way.â she squinted her eyes shut and shivered. âThank you for helping me, sir.â
âIt looâs bad,â he said, doubt obvious in his tone. âCâmon, geâ up; we goââa geâ you âo thâ infirmary, oâay?â Romulus added pressure to the pillow cover against her arm, certain that the bleeding wouldnât stop just from this. âIf yâ want tâ thank me, yâcan come with me tâ the infirmary . . . â
âI think it goes in the library,â Abigailâs attempted of sarcasm, really failing miserably. âBut, what book is it? Then we can narrow down where it goes by genre.â
âBut, whereâs thaâ? Anâ it looks liâe, uh . . â
âTâ Kill A Mockinâbirâ.â
âYeah, we were a bit of a thing⌠back at WakefieldâŚâ
âA thing, really? âm sorry, really donâ râmember.â

âOn the damn shelf. Are you an idiot?â
âThereâs nâ reason tâ be rude.â
âFuck!â Jess shouted as she fell back against the wall. She had torn one of the scabs that had begun to form over her cuts, and blood was pouring out of it. Her arm began to throbâ and the pain was unbearable. She shivered as she stood, trying her best to not cry.
Romulus was startled out of his half-asleep state by a cry, at which he quickly sat up and turned to face the stranger. "Hey, 'areful," he said, standing up and and approaching. Grabbing one of the pillows off the couch, he pulled the cover off of it and pressed it against the bleeding wound. "We shoul' get y' to th' nurses."
âAnyone know where thâ book âoes?â
Romulus Quinnius Fitzgerald is 24 years old, and was diagnosed with insomnia, sleep paralysis, REM sleep behavior disorder, and post-traumatic amnesia. He is said to look like Dane Dehaan.
âThe night is the hardest time to be alive and 4am knows all my secrets.â
Romulusâ sleep problems started when he was a child, most of which included sleepwalking. His parents thought he would grow out of it - which he did, but not in the way theyâd hoped for. As he got older, he stopped leaving his bed during sleep, instead lashing out while he rested. Just after his senior year of high school ended, Romulus was sleeping in his room at his parentsâ place. His mother heard things fall in his room, and went to check on him. No one quite knows what happened, but his father went to go see what was taking his wife so long a few minutes later. The woman was on the floor, unconscious, and her son was sound asleep.
He planned to go through college, but that experience made him wary of trying to go to a place where he would be sharing a living space with another person, so he decided to hold off on the decision. Instead, he got a simple job at a tech support store, working as a cashier. Due to his increasing lack of sleep - caused by both nightmares and the fear of them - he often became confused and disoriented. Several times, he never went to work at all, not having remembered how to get there.
Eventually, he realized that he had a legitimate issue. His friends - few and far between - urged him towards the only place they knew, a place called Wakefield, claiming that it was the best available location simply because theyâd seen it in the papers. Not finding himself with many other choices, Romulus checked himself in a few days later, unsure of what lay ahead of him.
After a few months there, heâd improved, and was released - only to be in a collision as the taxi drove him away from the institution. It took a few days for him to remember who he was, but he was still unable to recall the time heâd spent at Wakefield, and his psychological issues had returned. After a little over six months, he checked himself into another institution, much further from his home.
Romulus is an OC, and unfortunately for you, he is TAKEN.

âWell, that explains why you never calledâŚ. So I take it you donât remember me..?â
"R'member y'? I didn' even know I knew y', so . . . "

His last bag was packed, his bed was neatly made, and everything was in order. Now that he was on the proper medication for his insomnia, and that his speech had been normalized again, the doctors had given him the green light to go ahead and go home. It wasn't like he wanted to leave - it had been too long since he'd been out in the world, and he wasn't sure he would be capable of it, not to mention that his crush would still be here - but they weren't giving him much of a choice.
Instead of going and saying goodbye to everyone he'd met (namely Ki, Elise, Marina, and Lilia), he'd only gone to see Salem, and their parting hadn't been as terrible as he'd thought it would be. He'd promised he'd come see her, and he wasn't planning to break that promise.
A guard accompanied him to help load his things into the taxi, and as the man did so, Romulus turned around to look back up at the building. He'd come back and see Salem as soon as he was settled down at home, but he didn't want to forget this place. So many good memories had happened theÂ
Once his bags were all put away, he got into the taxi, staring down into his lap the whole way as they left the asylum. He never even saw the motorcycle that t-boned them, just a few blocks away from Wakefield.
When he woke up a few days later, he was in a hospital, having just come out of a short coma. It didn't take long for the doctors to realize he had amnesia, which would last for an unknown length of time - possibly forever. He was released to go back home, barely injured besides his concussion, with no memory of the past six months, including the three months he'd spent with Salem.

She nodded slowly, watching him scribble the address and number on her hand. When he finished, she blew on the ink a little before closing her hand and making a small fist, as if to say sheâd cherish it forever. âBe safe out there, got it?â Giving him a teary eyed smirk, she quickly reached up and gave him a final peck goodbye.
"I will," he said, flashing her a tiny smile. Romulus went to leave the room, turning back for just a moment to say one last thing - "I love you, Salem." Those words uttered, he went to his room to collect his things, knowing it was time to go.
Telling her not to cry would only make it worse if they werenât in public. Nodding a little, she swallowed back the rest of her tears and gave him a small, dorky smile. âRight⌠Maybe I-Iâll get out one day and we could see each other again..â Holding out her hand, she just now noticed how much she was trembling, but she tried her best to hide it by faking a cold chill.
"There's no maybe about it; you'll get out." Obviously, he didn't know about her murder spree, so he honestly believed she'd get to leave someday. He took her hand gently and pulled the sharpie pen out of his pocket - it was almost a pen, alright? - then began to write his home address and phone number on her hand as neatly as possible. "There; done. Write that down somewhere else when you get a chance." Hearing a car beep loudly outside the window, he flinched, quickly putting the pen away. "That's my ride; I thought I had more time. I'll see you soon - I'll come over next week."
