I understand that this is a 'me' problem. But I have watched a partner that I loved and cared for very much succumb to mental illness and take their own life after we had broken up. When I eventually moved on to my new partner I personally experienced a lot of guilt because I still loved my ex and I always, always will but some people still made me feel like there was some kind of competition between them even though one of them was dead.

So needless to say, reading the book was honestly very cathartic for me because I related so much to what Lestat was feeling after Nicki's death and I felt like I could experience those feelings in a 'safe' way, if you know what I mean. But when I see posts like that from alleged screeners, combined with what sounds like Nicki's role having been greatly diminished from the book to begin with, I'm having concerns with how this aspect has been portrayed and I don't think it will have the same cathartic effect that the book had.

I really enjoyed the first two seasons but if they can't stick the landing with the only season Nicki has a chance to be featured in I might just not bother.

I'm really sorry that you went through that and that your ex-partner did too. Grief is a hard, complicated thing that people don't really understand until they experience it and even then its different to everyone.

You see Lestat's love Nicky in the flashbacks and how he still holds love for him in the present. The love he has for Nicky has him protecting the memories about Nicky. There's a great scene with Daniel talking about Nicky for the interview and there's something Lestat does at the end of the Nicky parts that really solidifies his love for Nicky, how protective he is of Nicky because of the love he has for him.

You see Lestat's hurt in the Nicky situation I think. He has a lot of hurt and guilt for Nicky but still a lot of love and he makes that clear in how he reacts and answers to Daniel's questions about it.

I think he's protecting the memories from Gabrielle, too. I think this is why some of the stuff with Nicky hasn't been fully seen yet.

Yes it’s true or yes it’s baseless?

I really want to enjoy the show as it is but as a book fan this is a deviation that I personally cannot swallow without a good explanation behind it.
