It really sucks to read something perfectly tailored to your niche because now I can’t watch any movies or read any more books for the next couple days

As soon as you begin to label people you don’t like within your own culture/subculture as “not real x” you become blind to the influences your culture/subculture has on you. “Right wingers can’t be real punks!” Nazism has been prevalent within punk spaces forever to the point where from the outside looking in it’s one of the first things you learn about the movement. “TERFs aren’t real feminists” makes an argument with some rhetorical weight but ignores the transmisogyny of many feminist writings that are pillars of the movement. “Zionists aren’t real Jews” is especially egregious to me because it completely ignores how our scripture and our culture at large encourages Zionism. By denying these individual’s identities you are both isolating them rhetorically, making them less likely to listen to what you have to say and also making yourself more susceptible to certain radical ideologies by holding yourself up as morally pure. You’re a real punk, a real feminist, a real Jew. You will never fall into the pitfalls and mistakes of those you criticize. You will never be propagandized by your culture because you’re one of the real ones and you only believe in the real values of your community. Real values that are ever evolving.

I am really tired of people choosing their teams off of politics or whatever, real larpers choose their favorite team off of who has the hottest players

Lowkey nobody would care that Argentina cheated against Egypt if they just actually played good football. Their games are so boring! They play like absolute garbage for 90 minutes and then in stoppage/extra time they score big. Who wants to watch a game where Argentina is just tiring out their opponents the whole time so that getting a goal at the end is like stealing candy from a baby? That Switzerland match was disappointing. I’m glad Messi didn’t score, it means Mbappe has a chance to surpass him for most goals this WC.
