This event sure is im-paws-ible.. wait, no, implawsible? how do you make the paw pun with implausible...

Makoto gives a sad nod out of solidarity. “Oh, unemployment? I hear ya, sister. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find a place that appreciates folks of my talents, but I guess in a place this big you can find just about anything if you look for it. Hopefully you’re not down for long.”

Lord knows Makoto got over that bit of “freedom” pretty quickly. Nothing like being snatched away from your old job and being told you needed to find a new one. She’d never even needed to fill out an application in her life, so that was all new and exciting in a very dull way.

Makoto shakes her head and her hands at the other woman’s offer. “No, no, don’t even worry about it. You’re new here, right? You gotta save your money for important stuff like food or laundromat trips.”

“Once you’re back on your feet, then you can pay me back. Just look me up in the contact list: Makoto Nanaya. I’d hate to trouble a fellow beastkin like you!” She leans in a little. “Or whatever they call folks like us where you’re from. So seriously, no sweat.”

She finally stops to look at the damage done to her coat- somehow, her best outfit has come away unscathed. Makoto breathes a sigh of relief knowing she won’t have to move up laundry day.

“I’d rather have a stain on my coat than make you got topless or something! Seriously, I don’t need any more run-ins with the law or my best friend’ll kill me.”

“Weeell, kinda new. I was here before but then I wasn’t? Though now I am? This place is paws-itively baffling.” She admits, scratching the side of her head at the sheer confusion her own explanation gave. Nadia was definitely never going to get used to this weird place. 

“Oh wow, they call ya guys Beastkin over there? That sounds so much better than ‘ferals’. It’s so demeaning.”

Granted, it’s better than just ‘catgirl’. That one just made her feel weird. Though Nadia is getting off topic--

“Oh, name’s Nadia. Nadia Fortune. Hope ya don’t fur-get it!”

“ And what difference would that make I wonder?” 

DIO’s cooed as his massive form emerged from the shadows, his eyes glowing like hellish fire. An eccentric appearance would no doubt mean an equally eccentric personality. Of course, half the lot of this world were so miserably irritating, the chances of her being one were great, he’d be certain to keep his disposition confident, free of any frustration.

“ Regardless the eclipse will occur, and the whole of our vision will be obscured, watching on as shadows overtake the light. I for one find it quite beautiful.”

“I guess you have a point.” 

Normally, that type of thing might startle or maybe even put her on edge. Though when the topic is already ‘terrifying space ghost/goddess’, her fright threshold is surprisingly high. Still, this guy rubbed her fur the wrong way. Oh well, at least he’s not trying to kill her yet. Yet.

“Say, have I seen you before? I could swear I wouldn’t furr-get someone like ya but I can’t quite put my paw on it...”

It’s rather odd to say that you’ve seen so many horrors that something like the girl before you is the norm-- yet she’s, for all intents and purposes, an undead being held together by a gem she swallowed. So Nadia wasn’t much better. Well, at least she was better outwardly than the poor girl in front of her. 

Makoto scrolls through her phone, lips pursed in thought. Today’s schedule isn’t so bad, there’s no work meetings or friendly meetings scheduled, so maybe she can finally check out that underwater place-

“Aaaaugh, my frap!”

Something has flopped onto her lap and spilled her drink before flopping away. Makoto bolts to her feet and looks around until she finds the someone responsible. “What? You didn’t see me? I was sittin’ right there, girl! You gotta use those peepers!” Her own eyes scan up and down over this new face; the woman has some similar features to her, but apparently there are enough worlds out there with animal people that she won’t try and guess at a label just yet.

But maybe that sense of camaraderie helps her relax a little. “Sorry, sorry, didn’t mean to go all feral on you. It’s just that those things are expensive, you know?”

“That’s the power of ‘technically lost your job’ syndrome for ya.” 

At the very least, she had kept all her body parts attached this time. The last time she’d dropped onto someone? She came apart at the seams. Real awkward. Never got those stains out and had to get them a whole new outfit. 

Granted, she might need to with the other, too. Those fraps are goddesses awful to get out. One problem at a time, Nadia.

“Oh nah. I totally get ya. I’ll get ya a new one, on the mouse.” 

She’d say ‘on her’, but the pun was right there. Granted, she didn’t own any coffee shop, either, so it was a bit of a-- distractions, Nadia.

“Cute costume, kiddo.” 

Managing to find someone that looked like they might have rushed their costume more than her? That was paws-itively startling! Still, it made Nadia feel like her costume wasn’t an absolute disgrace. So props, kid, you cheered this kitten up. 

“Ugh, I wonder if the police force’ll hire me back...” 

Nadia rolled her head from side to side, purring from stress as she considered what to do now that she was back. She didn’t have an education, so the only ways she could properly make cash was on one end of the badge or the other. Sadly, that didn’t seem to change much here in Spirale. She’s so caught up in her self-pity that she doesn’t notice the other until her hand missed the head and it bumped into the girl’s feet.

Leaving and coming back sucked. She lost her old job, she lost her old place, and she lost some of the friends she met! This place was an absolute drag. At the very least, she kept the powers she had last time. So, well, Nadia assumes it isn’t all that bad. It still doesn’t help that now she’s missed all the fun. She goes to flop over a bench, not realizing it was occupied until she rolls clear over the other and onto the sidewalk with a thud.
