Hi, loves! Just had some announcements of my own and then some announcements from the Hellaverse that need more attention!
This is basically just an announcement from my discord server but has important tidbits from the whole fanmerch from official Hazbin and Helluva artists problem happening! Please do read and reblog to keep everyone informed!
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
Good Morning loves! I apologize, I know I said I likely wouldn't be around this week but this felt too important to just not make an announcement about. I am taking care of myself while I am sick, I assure you!
First of all, due to the development of pnuemonia and new neuro meds ya girl has been blessed with this week, I won't be posting the next chapter of "The Ex-Saint and Woeless Sinner" this weekend or possibly the next on here or AO3 to give my body time to recover and readjust to the meds! I also want to be coherent to write and edit the chapters! I might post some drabbles I have saved though!
Second of all, for anyone who has been concerned or watching the Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss fanmerch selling issues online, while official Spindlehorse artists cannot CURRENTLY sell their fanmerch of the Hellaverse on their online shops right now, they are asking fans not to boycott the official merch stores as they are negotiating with the aid of their union to get their right to sell their fanmerch back. As of right now, the artists are asking fans to please just keep up to date on their posts and just listen to them as boycotting the official merch could hurt them more! Some artists who work on the show unfortunately in the industry only get paid through the official merch and used the fanmerch as a way to boost their income.
If anything, please check out their pages on their socials, donate to their patreons, support their shops even if they can't sell their Hellaverse stuff and let's see where this goes with the negotiations! These artists do work hard on Hazbin and Helluva!
Amazon has cracked down on fanmerch being sold by Hazbin and Helluva official show artists and the main and most likely theory is due to individuals such as Black Gryph0n (ifykyk) producing creative works, claiming them official canon and monetizing them. This being said, if you make Hellaverse fan content, please do not claim it as official or canon and attempt to monetize it! You will also open yourself up to lawsuits!
This is where "I do not own Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss" and "This is a fanwork" comes into play and protects the artists who work in the show as well as yourself.
Fanartists are currently still totally safe to continue selling their fanmerch, just as a reassurance! I will keep everyone posted on that situation when i see it! This is an Amazon problem that Spindlehorse is trying to negotiate with.
In other news, in attempt to combat trading card scalpers, Hazbin Hotel decided to release a cracked ice Vox Populi promo card but you can only POSSIBLY obtain it by entering a lottery for it! While fans appreciate the attempt to combat card scalpers, this may be more of a problem and could make accessing promo cards for those in certain areas even more difficult than before.
That all being said, I crawl back into the abyss and sleep off this fever.
Thank you, loves!

Summary:
Kit's setting up for the departure for Heaven on her side while trying to talk sense into Vaggie about telling Charlie the truth about being a fallen angel BEFORE leaving when Beelzebub gives her a call to come hang out at a "little" get together in the Gluttony Ring. She needs a break after all! Kit goes after some convincing and gets her ticket to freedom out of the social scene when someone calls her unexpectedly...
✸→→⛤←←✸✸→→⛤←←✸✸→→⛤←←✸✸→→⛤←←✸✸→→⛤←←✸
When they had gotten the date for Charlie’s meeting with Heaven, insanity ensued at the Hazbin Hotel. They had a week to get their shit together and prepare for it; Charlie had come bounding down the stairs after getting off the phone with her father, smiling broadly and practically shaking from the excitement.
And while Charlie mapped out an entire game plan for how they’d proceed with the meeting – consisting mostly of dictionary definitions – Kit had been watching as Vaggie agonized over the thought of telling Charlie about who she really is.
And it was painful.
It was only a few days prior to the trip to Heaven, which still seemed surreal to anyone staying at the hotel. Kit was coming down the stairs with her phone to her ear as Viol chatted away to her.
“You want me to do what?”
Kit rolled her eyes at her closest friend, hearing the hesitation in his tone. “It’d be for twenty-four hours. In reality, less than that because I highly doubt they’d let us stay a night. C’mon, Vi. I need a favor.”
Viol had not been expecting Kit to call her for babysitting duty. She wanted him to come to the hotel and just ensure no one got into any severe trouble. As much as he wanted to, he knew Vox would go into a fucking tizzy if he knew.
“Can’t one of your employees at K Security do it? Don’t you pay them for that?” Viol asked on the other line, listening to the way Kit sighed.
“You know why I can’t do that.” Kit reminded him as she entered the parlor of the hotel, seeing it empty. “They don’t… feel fond about the Hazbin Hotel. They’re not comfortable being stationed somewhere where they think they’ll be attacked for supporting Charlie’s mission.”
“Valid, but it’s not like anyone has tried to… nevermind.” Viol trailed off and chuckled, “I forgot that Exorcists are coming back in like, fuck… not even that much longer. They’ll probably hit the hotel first, huh?”
“Not the point.” Kit sighed and sat on the couch, leaning back against the plush cushions, her silvery white hair fanning out around her as she tilted her head back. “Will you please just… do this for me?”
“I don’t know, Kit,” Viol hummed and then clicked his tongue, “Vox would be pissed if he found out I was over there…”
Kit closed her eyes and took a deep breath, not willing to comment on how stupid that thought process was. Viol was just trying to keep the peace right now; with Alastor at the hotel, Vox was already pissed that K Security was working with the hotel as well as the Vees now. And if Vox’s boyfriend were spending time in the same building as the demon Vox hated most…
“I’m not gonna comment on what I think about that…” Kit grumbled and shook her head. “You don’t gotta tell him. I just need you to make sure the hotel doesn’t fall apart and no one gets eviscerated while I’m gone…. Please, Vi?”
There was silence on the other end as the wolf demon contemplated her request and, ultimately, he sighed and said, “Shoot me a text of when I need to be there… I guess Angel and I can play poker with that… cat demon… thing… or things, cause there’s two of ‘em, right?”
“Yep.”
“Right… okay. I’ll talk to you later, Kit!”
Kit smiled and hung up the phone after saying, “Bye, Vi!”
As Kit pocketed her phone, she moved to stand back up from her seat, but stopped upon hearing light footsteps approaching the parlor. Kit leaned back and turned her head to see who it was, eyes narrowed and lips pressed together in a thin line.
Vaggie came around the corner of the stairs and the two fallen angels made eye contact and, almost immediately, Vaggie spun around to go in the opposite direction. She had been avoiding Kit since Lucifer’s visit, knowing that the Paladin would pester her to tell Charlie she was an Exorcist. Better to just avoid the problem then say something and get it all out in the open in Vaggie’s mind.
“Hold it.” Kit ordered with an almost authoritative bellow; it startled her to be completely honest. She hadn’t used that tone of voice often since her fall.
Vaggie tensed, stopping mid step as she felt Kit staring a hole into her back. The shorter woman sucked in a breath, closing her eye.
“Get back here.” Kit commanded, though softly as she snapped her fingers.
Vaggie turned around hesitantly, regretting leaving her and Charlie’s room. To think she could sneak by without running into Kit… she was foolish for that one.
Vaggie looked exhausted; the stress of her secret weighed on her more and more as the date and time for the meeting approached. If she had her wings, the poor girl would be pulling the feathers out. Her movements were stiff, full of anxiety, as she walked to the chair across from the couch and sat down slowly, not making direct eye contact with the older angel as she did so.
Kit sat up in her seat and crossed her legs, tilting her head curiously. She felt sympathy for Vaggie – during her time in Hell, she’d only let a select few people know about her… true identity. Viol was the start, and then Asmodeus and Fizz, leading to Bee and a few other Sins. But when Kit became part of the hotel, she had to be open to letting more than just those select few in on her secret. Whether or not they spread word wasn’t up to her, though she’d prefer it was kept to a minimum.
So, as Kit looked at the distressed former Exorcist sitting across from her, Kit asked, “How are you feeling?”
Vaggie had been prepared for a lecture, not a sincere question about her mental stability. She looked up and met Kit’s eyes, her lips parted in slight surprise before she shut her mouth and shrugged. “Stressed? Scared, I think?”
Kit’s gaze shifted as she quickly looked around for any unwanted eavesdroppers – even among the shadows where Alastor would lurk. She then turned back to Vaggie. “Scared to go back to Heaven or scared that Charlie will find out?”
The other angel hugged herself as her gaze shifted down to her shoes. She sucked in her bottom lip as she thought about it. With a shake of her head, Vaggie said, “Both, I think… I know I should tell her, but…”
She trailed off, growing quiet as she looked away in shame.
“You were once part of the very thing she’s working to stop,” Kit finished for her and nodded in understanding. “As a Paladin, I took part in the Extermination too, Kid. For the first… bit. And then I walked away from Heaven and Charlie doesn’t even bat an eye about it because I stand for Sinners now.”
“But you’re not her girlfriend.” Vaggie pointed out, a sour look starting to form on her features. “You really don’t think she’d be upset?”
Kit sighed and ran a hand through her hair as she debated on whether or not she should sugar coat her answer. “Honestly, you’ve waited too long before you said anything. She’ll be… hurt, for sure. But she will eventually understand that you were afraid and ashamed.”
The younger angel nodded and hugged herself even tighter. “I just don’t know if now is the best time… maybe when we get back from Heaven?”
“I can’t tell you what to do,” Kit said and shook her head, “I can only give you advice, and I think you really should tell her before we go. And if not before, then soon after.”
The Exorcist bit her bottom lip and shook her head, anxiety clearly eating away at her as she shuffled on her feet. She looked up at Kit like a child would her mother and, for a moment, perhaps that’s what Vaggie saw as she said, “I know I should… fuck, I should…”
“Then do it.” Kit replied bluntly, narrowing her eyes in seriousness.
“But you’re right. I waited too long,” Vaggie argued; seemingly more with herself than with the Paladin as she abruptly stood from her chair and began to pace in front of the taller angel. “Three years, Kit. I’m her girlfriend! Won’t she hate me? She’d break up with me, wouldn’t she?”
“You don’t know that.”
“But she has every right to!” The younger angel stopped just in front of the former General. “She has every right to slap me, turn her back on me and… maybe…”
Kit frowned as Vaggie’s breathing started to quicken, shortening and becoming shallow. Her hands slid into her hair, fingers curling as she gripped and tugged. Kit rose from her seat and reached out. She grabbed Vaggie’s wrists, pulling them apart to keep her from pulling her hair in the midst of an onset panic attack.
“Vaggie,” Kit started calmly, getting her attention, “Look at me.”
The shorter woman blinked and looked up at her, a tear streaming down her face as she tried to calm her breathing.
“Breathe,” Kit instructed and took a deep breath, making a one handed gesture for the other woman to follow with her. And Vaggie did so, each breath growing steadier as she matched Kit’s. Kit nodded in approval and placed her hand on her back, her tone gentle yet firm as she said, “Realistically, it’s gonna be rough, but it will be worse if she finds out once we’re there, Vaggie. Especially if it doesn’t come from you.”
Vaggie nodded and, now exhausted from the panic attack, she stood up from the chair and smiled weakly at Kit. “I’ll think about it. Thanks.”
Kit didn’t verbally respond as Vaggie walked away from the parlor and rushed back upstairs. She knew in her core that Vaggie would let it fester for now. There was no way she’d tell Charlie before the Heaven trip and Kit feared it may come out against Vaggie’s will during it.
But just as Kit was about to allow herself to dwell on it, her phone started ringing and she quickly pulled it out of her pocket and looked at the caller ID.
Beelzebub was calling her.
Kit tapped the green answer icon and held the phone up to her ear, her tone full of playful attitude as she grinned. “What you want?”
“Well, hello to you too, Gorgeous,” Bee laughed, her bubbly personality already seeping through the phone as Kit sat back against the couch’s cushions. “How’s my favorite girl?”
Kit rubbed her face with one hand and groaned, “Tired. Working. Doing my thing.”
Bee hummed, the tune picking up an excited thrum before she asked, “Sounds like you need a night off to just let loose! I’m having a party…”
“Another one?” Kit interjected with a snort, “Ozzie just told me you had one last weekend.”
“Shush, Babygirl, let me speak.” Bee snapped back with a laugh, “I’m having another party and Tex thought you should come. Said the last time he saw you at the office, you looked half dead. Plus, I haven’t seen you in a while. I need me some Kit time, Bitch.”
Kit rolled her eyes and looked at the clock in the parlor. She had stopped by her security company’s office in Pentagram City yesterday, seen Vortex and just chatted for a bit before she had to be back at the hotel. “I’m not half dead.”
“Okay, but you could be close,” Bee retorted and Kit could see in her mind how she would be making gestures with her hands while talking, “And we can’t have that.”
“Fucking hell…” Kit laughed and shook her head, “I don’t know…”
“C’mon, Babe! Just a few hours and then you can run back to your overworked life!” Bee pushed on, then added, “If you’re not totally wasted by the morning, I mean!”
Kit bit her lip and thought about it. It would be nice to get another bottle of beelzejuice or two for the nights Kit wanted to actually get drunk. She cursed her angelic resistance to alcohol.
And the hotel was mostly concerned with the Heaven trip. No one was doing lesson plans, going out or needing her assistance. Hell, Alastor and Kumi were focusing on his broadcasts while Charlie focused on their upcoming meeting.
“Sure,” Kit finally responded, earning her an excited shriek from Bee’s end.
“Hell fucking yes, Girl! I’ll see you tonight. Text you the details and wear something hella fucking sexy!” Bee then hung up, Kit’s phone beeping before she pulled the screen away from her face and looked down at it with a little smile.
It’d been a while since she visited the Gluttony Ring. It would be nice to take a look around again; Bee’s ring was one of the more beautiful ones… despite its overpopulation of Hellhounds.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The Ring of Gluttony was beautiful – always had been since Kit fell. The first time she’d seen it was shortly after Asmodeus had introduced Kit to Beelzebub when she had come to his Ring to visit him. The two women instantly hit it off and Bee contracted Kit’s company for security during her parties; which was how she met her boyfriend and Kit’s employee: Vortex.
The Gluttony Ring always gave Kit beach vibes, which was funny considering that Hell’s biggest ocean was in Envy and it wasn’t nearly as breathtaking. But, she supposed that was a reflection of Bee’s character.
The Hellish palm trees were colorful and vibrant. The greenery and plant life reminded her of the tropics of Earth the few times Kit had been there. The skies were painted a mesmerizing yellow and gold; like honey.
Beelzebub’s place of party looked like a giant honeycomb encased with a top tier tropical resort. It was going on a vacation in Heaven. Hell, it reminded Kit of Heaven’s oceans; the beaches of Eden.
Music blared loudly, its upbeat rhythm thrumming through the ground as Kit’s motorcycle came to a halt along the road next to the place. Hellhounds and imps swarmed the little spot, their silhouettes already bopping to the beats.
Kit turned off the engine to her bike and sat there for a moment, leaning back and looking up at the beauty of her friend’s home. She and Beelzebub were amazing friends and it honestly bummed Kit out that she didn’t get to see her as much with all their conflicting schedules. Between Kit’s work, Bee’s partying and then Sin duties, it was limited how much the two women got to see one another.
For a moment, the fallen angel contemplated going home. She had to mentally prepare for the trip to Heaven and was partying right now the best way to do so? It would alleviate some stress, sure, but…
“There’s my bitch!”
Kit was nearly knocked off her bike when the Sin of Gluttony herself nearly tackled her off of the bike’s seat with both sets of arms while laughing. The hum of Bee’s wings were loud as she yanked Kit off of her bike and let her go, standing back and landing on her pawed feet. Her pink eyes beamed at Kit as she grinned.
“Fuck, Sweetie,” Bee raised a brow and crossed her arms, “I thought I heard that sexy bike pull up out here!”
Beelzebub, also known as ‘Bee,’ resembled a fox in her form with bee-like characteristics such as her wing, two sets of arms, and the way the ends of her wolf ears thinned and continued upward into black antennas. She was marked up beautifully; her base fur was a pastel yellow color with pink stripes along her ears and black markings on her arms and legs like gloves and stockings. Her mid-section was… well, still confusing to Kit. It looked as though her stomach was nothing but a lava lamp, whatever colors she’s vibing with at the time being what was floating around in it. And her hair and tail was made of the same thing; ‘lava lamp goop’ as Viol had once told Kit upon seeing pictures of the Sin of Gluttony.
Bee’s eyes were as pink as the stripes on her body and always full of mischief, her heart shaped nose on her snout twitching as she smiled at Kit, those long black lashes fluttering at her.
“Hey, Bee,” Kit greeted her and received an immediate second glomp from her friend. Kit returned the hug this time, “Long time no see.”
Bee pulled away and looked down at Kit, wings humming as she hovered around Kit excitedly. “Babe, it’s been more than just a long time. Fuck, I feel like I haven’t seen that beautiful face in centuries!”
The Sin grabbed Kit by the hand and started dragging her towards the venue. Kit allowed this, listening to Bee as she yapped away.
“The party has been fuckin’ lit up! Everyone is getting so fucked!” Bee looked back at the fallen angel and proceeded to look her up and down, nodding in approval, “And I see my girl took what I said to heart! Lookin’ hella fuckin’ sexy, Kit!”
“Thanks.” Kit chuckled, looking down at her choice of outfit. The top was actually a gift from Bee; a simple halter top that buttoned up in the center, though it still felt a size too small in Kit’s opinion as her breasts felt like they would spill out of it.. It was a split color scheme, the right side being Kit’s favorite shade of purple and the left being black. The Sin of Gluttony had also been so kind as to get her matching long sleeve gloves to go with.
The skirt was from Fizz during one of their shopping escapades in the Lust Ring. It had been trending at the time and Kit actually liked it. It wasn’t too short, but it definitely gave the illusion that if Kit were to move a certain way, you’d be flashed by her underwear. It was a soft black fabric, pleated with a white stripe along the bottom. And it was high rise, the elastic band squeezing her waist. Beneath the skirt, her darker tinted lavender legs were encased in newer fishnets Kit had purchased from Stylish Occult one weekend a month or so ago when Ocatvia had called her and asked if she would go with her.
And of course, those same angelic steel toed boots. Never would Kit go anywhere without them.
“Come on! Let’s get you fucked up! Or as close as an angel can!” Bee cheered as they entered the building. The blast of the music grew louder as Bee said, “I just got done boostin’ the mood for the party!”
The energy was absolutely bursting with excitement, joy and… oh there’s the sex and making out Kit recalled. People couldn’t exactly control themselves when they got into the vibe of Bee’s parties. It was why Hellhounds were so... In abundance. Most of the babies born from tonight’s party will end up in Hell’s own version of a foster hathaway home; the Hellhound Pound. And to be clear, it was like an actual dog pound. And the poor kids would be put on display for work or gifts until they aged out at eighteen.
Kit wasn’t exactly for that, but she recalled meeting Vortex just after he had been lucky enough to age out. The first place he went? To the Pride Ring to find work. Any work that would get him a warm home and he found K Security first. Naturally, Kit took him in and hired him. She had a bleeding heart like that when it came to her employees and any Hellhound that looked at her pleading for work.
“It’s not… big.” Bee said apologetically as they passed by a trio of Hellhounds making out sloppily on one of the couches. “I hope this teeny little get together at least makes you feel a little bit more relaxed.”
Kit nodded and smiled appreciatively, “It’s fine.”
“I was just telling the little pup Tex invited,” Bee started to explain as an imp scurried by with a red cup of Beelzejuice. “I was gonna throw a bigger one, but I couldn’t get Belphegor to let me grab her stash of party drugs!”
“Don’t you just… steal them?” The angel snorted as Bee let her hand go and instead opted to walk alongside her, throwing one of her arms around Kit’s shoulder as she did so.
“Bel changed the locks!” The wolf-like Sin exclaimed in annoyance. “She called me a ‘jackass’ for trying, but you know me; I’m proud to be a total jackass!”
Kit rolled her eyes. She’d met most of the Sins by now; and she could officially add Lucifer to that list. Belphegor was the ruler of the Sloth Ring and the owner/CEO of Hell’s hospitals across all seven rings and probably the most quiet and sweetest Kit had met. She was reserved, keeping to herself. Something Kit could respect.
Belphegor had accidentally met the fallen angel at one of the meetings the Sins had with the Goetic demons of Hell. It was an event to discuss demon law, new shit, Kit couldn’t remember it all, but she was mostly there as Security for Stolas and his family. Which then turned into Bee and Ozzie dragging her around and laughing like usual during the breaks. That was when Ozzie had caught poor Belphegor when the goat demon had nearly passed out from over exertion – in which any exertion is too much for her – and introduced Kit to her.
Now that Kit thought about it, she recalled the meeting room and though she knew for a fact Lucifer had been there from the few times she had seen him from a distance, he wasn’t there… often…
Of course, after meeting him and speaking to him for the brief moments she did, Kit wondered if his lack of presence was due to his clear spiral since the Queen of Hell’s disappearance… and the separation prior to that from what Charlie had told her. If Lucifer wasn’t doing his royal duties, then who was in charge while he was indisposed?
That was a question she could totally ask Beelzebub, but Kit didn’t even have the chance as she was hauled towards a familiar face.
“Boss!” Tex greeted Kit with a big grin as Bee let her go so she could tackle her boyfriend into a bone crushing hug. “I owe Bee fifty bucks! I for sure thought you’d say no!”
“Damn, that sucks for you, cause I’m here.” Kit remarked with a smirk, crossing her arms and cocking one hip as she began to feel comfortable among friends.
Not that she didn’t feel comfortable at the hotel or at the Vee tower, but Viol was her only friend at the Vees and while she had people she was certainly getting close to at the hotel, there were also people she had to be on edge around should they do something they’d instantly regret.
Like Alastor.
“Oh, Kit! You have to meet this sweet little pup Tex invited! She would vibe with your style!” Bee jumped up, wings humming as she began to hover again. “Oh, and I got you a few new bottles of Beelzejuice for you to take home! Special made just for my fave angel!”
It was amusing how Bee’s scatterbrain mind worked during a party. She was all over the place, high from the energy of those around her. Kit tilted her head and grinned, “Thanks, Bee.”
“Anything for the gorgeous angel Heaven just let walk out!” Bee bounced to her and hugged her. “I know angels are hella resistant to alcohol. And I’ve been working on a new formula that may let you get totally fucked up, but I have to test it on, like, someone else first, because it may be strong enough to actually get you wasted, but it could also… like, legit kill anyone else…”
Bee rolled her wrist and pursed her lips, looking off into space as she debated it.
“Anyways!” Bee squeezed her into her side before letting go and starting to flutter off, “I’m gonna go make sure everyone is getting fucked up! You and Tex play catch up and then you need to get you some eats, some drinks and tear it up!”
Bee flew off, leaving Kit and Tex alone together. The large Hellhound nudged his boss with an elbow, raising a brow. Kit returned his gaze with a quizzical look.
“How’s the whole… redemption thing going?” Tex asked, holding his own drink and sipping on it as he broached a subject still touchy to his boss.
None of the other guards working for K Security was interested in the Hazbin Hotel. No one really believed it would work, so Kit was having to play ultimate security guard while managing the rest of the company until the hotel was proved to be correct.
Kit scoffed and looked down, her face a little solemn. “I get to go to Heaven in a few days.”
“Oh?” Tex’s ears perked up and he could sense the dread from her, her body tensing as she thought about it. “Is that… good?”
“I mean…” Kit sighed and ran a hand through her hair. “Yes, but no. Yes, because it shows Heaven that we’re serious – and I have seen some growth in a positive and redeemable manner from one or two of the current residents, but…”
She trailed off, and Tex knew the look on her face. Sorrow, guilt, and anxiety.
“You,” Tex started, hesitant about pissing her off, “You don’t think they’ll try anything to hurt ya while you’re up there, do ya?”
The woman snorted a laugh and shook her head, an amused smirk on her face as she met Tex’s eyes. “Oh, no. No one except for maybe another Paladin or Michael would try that. I’d wipe the floor with Adam and any of the other prissy little fucks up there.”
“Then what is it?”
“Heaven isn’t open minded. They’re hardcore set in their ways; their laws.” Kit expressed with a heavy sigh. “Before I left… or as they would say ‘fell,’ I had actually almost caused an uprising in Heaven over this shit.”
Tex’s eyes widened in shock, looking around to ensure no one had heard, but everyone was too drunk either on sex or alcohol to be coherent enough to eavesdrop. Never had he heard his boss say that.
Tex cleared his throat and looked down at her. “You almost did what? You didn’t fall?”
Her face went from anxious to in distress as she met his eyes and shook her head in panic. “Shit, long story… I’m still a fallen angel. I just… jumped, I guess? But that’s not the point. Heaven is so afraid of change, that they might be wrong.”
“You’re worried that this meeting will be for nothing.”
“Well, Charlie is hoping the elders will extend the date for the upcoming, early Extermination to allow time for the hotel to work.” Kit had a look of doubt on her face. “It’ll more than likely just rile up the Exorcists and Adam even more.”
Tex hummed and then put a hand on her shoulder, offering her a reassuring smile, “You got this. If a Paladin of Michael walked away from them, then that should tell them they’re all fucked up. They’ll see that sooner or later.”
“Let’s hope for sooner.” Kit grumbled, crossing her arms and heaving another sigh.
The Hellhound then changed the subject, trying to take Kit’s mind off of the impending Heaven adventure. “Hey, so you should’ve seen this imp dude. He’s Loona’s… dad thing. The girl Bee keeps saying that you should meet?”
Kit nodded in understanding and remained silent, urging him with a hand to continue.
“Well, the little dude challenged Bee and they drank that hard shit from my girl’s personal stash. And you know no one can outdrink my girl.”
“Well, she is the literal Sin of Gluttony…” Kit pointed out with a tired, but amused look in her eyes.
A Hellhound suddenly ran past them and booked it for one of the indoor pools filled with Beelzejuice Bee had put up. The howling of the party became intense. Kit spared the pool a glance, wondering how wasted they were as a few dozen Hellhounds and Imps swam around the golden, honey-like liquid.
“He beat her,” Tex finished and then as Kit gave him a look of surprise, he then added, “But Bee is lowkey kinda concerned because he seemed… not good, ya know?”
“Mentally?”
“Oh yeah.” Tex nodded and crossed his arms over his broad chest. “Bee and I were gonna talk to Loona about it here in a bit, but we figured we’d see if maybe he’s just… I dunno…”
Kit blinked as she tried to process what he meant before it clicked and she nodded. “I mean, if you’re actually worried for the guy that he’s not really enjoying himself and he’s doing it to numb and hurt himself… you need to go talk to his daughter, like, now.”
Tex nodded in agreement and started to walk off. “Fair point. Lemme go grab Bee.” And as he made it three steps, he felt like he needed to ensure Kit was fine. “You good if I go do that?”
She nodded and waved him off. “I’m good. Go do what you need to do.”
As her employee and friend waded into the sea of drunken Hellhounds, Kit scoffed to herself and started to walk towards one of the doors leading to one of several balconies in the resort-styled building. Her heeled boots clicked sharply against the tiles, sounding like metal ticking as she walked. The beautiful skies and their light filtered through the glass, honeycomb patterned windows. She grabbed a cup of Beelzejuice on her way from one of the many self-serving bars Bee had set up. She brought the cup of golden liquid to her nose and inhaled.
No scent of drugs. Not that it would do a dent to Kit, but she’d rather not risk being completely impaired on the drive home. One drink and hanging out with friends was her main goal. That’s all. Not that she could get shitfaced, but she can get buzzed for sure.
Kit walked out onto the balcony and found herself alone, which was nice. She’d rather be alone than deal with a bunch of howling Hellhounds and horny Imps. There had been one too many eying her when she came in at first.
She leaned against the railing and just took a deep breath, closing her eyes and simply enjoying the peace. The calm before the storm once they stepped foot into Heaven. She raised the plastic red cup to her lips and sipped on the Beelzejuice just her phone began to vibrate, having set it on silent.
Kit swallowed the honey-like liquid and set her cup down on the little patio table on the balcony. She pulled her phone out and raised her brow at the caller ID. It was an unsaved number, but it looked familiar. She was sure she hadn’t given any new clients her number and if she had, they'd have given her theirs and she would’ve saved their contact.
Kit hummed and decided to answer, bringing her phone to her ear and greeting the person on the other end with a quizzical, “Hello?”
So polite and professional in her tone. One would think that was from being a business woman, but really it was from her time as a Paladin. The woman had a ‘customer service’ voice before anyone even invented it in modern times on Earth.
“Kit?” The voice was so familiar and Kit almost didn’t place it for a moment.
And then she did and her eyes widened.
“Lucifer?” She perked up, energy seeping into her tired body as she ran a hand through her hair. “Hi, I didn’t know you had my number.”
“Oh, Charlie gave it to me when I, uh, asked…” He trailed off on his line and mumbled to himself about how that sounded weird and something else Kit couldn’t quite make out. “Anyways, I’m glad I got you! I was worried I would end up dialing the wrong number and be talking to… well, not you! When you first answered, you sounded…”
Kit smirked and huffed a small laugh. “Not like me?”
Lucifer cleared his throat and laughed a little nervously, “Yeah, kinda.”
“Years of faking it.” Kit laughed lightheartedly before remembering that he called her. So, he must need something. “What can I do for you?”
There was the sound of something falling in the background on the other end and the King of Hell swore under his breath before he got back to her. “I–well, I was… wondering if you could meet me somewhere? I wanted to speak with you but Charlie said you were ‘out’.”
What could that be about? Kit grabbed her cup and took another sip of the Beelzejuice as she pondered why in the world Charlie’s father would need to speak to her so urgently that he wanted to meet her somewhere.
“Do you know where my office is?” Kit asked, as she simply left the still mostly full cup of Beelzejuice on the table. “K Security?”
There was a loud thud from inside the venue, the ground shaking slightly as Kit looked over her shoulder with furrowed brows, momentarily pondering if Bee let her temper flare.
“Oh, uh, yeah! I think so. I should probably know that, shouldn’t I?” Lucifer was rambling; word vomiting, really as it sounded like he was scrambling for something wherever he was. “I mean, I do know! Obviously, I know!”
Kit let out a lilted laugh, which silenced the man on the other end. “Alright. I’ll be there in thirty minutes. Is that enough time for you?”
If only she could see Lucifer’s face the moment she had made that… melodic little jingle of a laugh. It had caught the Sin of Pride off guard, his face blanking as it rang in his ears. Then, after a moment of processing, he realized she had said more to him. Time? That’s what she was talking about just then. Thirty minutes.
“Then I’ll see you in thirty.” Kit ended the call and hung up, slipping her phone back into the pocket of her skirt.
She had a valid excuse to leave the party, and she was going to take it as she walked back into the main room. Kit had never felt so calm as she weaved through the crowd to get to the front. She looked around for Beelzebub or Vortex, but couldn’t find anyone. It was just as she got out of the sea of drunk bodies did she feel someone’s arm around her shoulders.
“Leaving already, Sweetie?” It was Bee. She spun Kit around and said, “Girl, the party isn’t even at its peak!”
“I know,” Kit nodded and thumbed over her shoulder. “But, see, I…”
Could she tell Bee that Lucifer called her? He was like family to her, right? So it wouldn’t sound odd. Kit was stumbling over her thoughts about it and couldn’t place why.
“Work.” Kit finished with a less than convincing grin.
Bee clicked her tongue and tilted her head, scrutinizing Kit before she playfully smacked her arm and burst out in a laugh. “Oh! I get it! You got yourself some ass to go tap, huh?”
Kit’s eyes widened, imagery of her and Lucifer doing anything beyond friendly flashing in her mind for just a moment. She shook her head and looked at her friend with exasperation. “What? No! Bee, legit. It’s related to work!”
“Sure!!” Bee giggled and pulled out the bottles of Beelzejuice she’d promised Kit from behind her back. She handed them over and winked at her. “Lemme guess! He’s a twink! Well… no, you got a thing for the feminine guys so yeah! A twink. Does he work for you?”
Kit raised her brows as Bee when in full investigation mode over something that wasn’t even remotely close to correct.
“No… no, you don’t fuck people you work with,” Bee mumbled and tapped her chin. “I can’t help but imagine a slutty waist because you’d fuck him – or her! I don’t know; how do you swing?”
The Paladin looked up at the Sin with a drained expression and sighed. “I don’t know…”
“Well, go get you some pussy – or dick! Whichever it is!” Bee slapped her on the back and cackled. “Hope they have the stamina to keep up with your Paladin ass! Bye, Gorgeous!”
If only you knew you were referring to Lucifer Morningstar, Kit thought as she waved goodbye and stepped outside. That was then her brain took it a step forward and she momentarily imagined the scenario Bee had begun to paint her.
She would have her hands around Lucifer’s waist, bending him over her desk at the office. She’d have to have a strap; which Asmodeus had gifted her many over the last few years. She wondered what Lucifer’s preference was when it came to pegging? Lilith had to have…
And now we’re too far, Kit thought with her face burning from the blush creeping up on her cheeks. That was Charlie’s father, for fuck’s sake!
Kit made it to her bike and gently tossed the bottles of special booze into the air before snapping her fingers and watching the Beelzejuice disappear in a flash of golden light, teleporting them to her room at the hotel. She then got on her bike and started up the engine, completely shaking the thoughts from her head that Bee had implanted.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
K Security was located in the upper end of Pentagram City. Kit had fought and worked hard to pay for the building, own it and then build it up. It had been an old apartment building; run down and nearly collapsing and now, with Viol’s help, it had become a nice looking office building.
All hers. Her place in Hell. The top of the building had one apartment still intact that Kit had used to live in for most of her life in Hell. She hadn’t seen it since moving into the Hazbin Hotel. She allowed a few trusted employees to use it here and there when they stayed on overtime.
Kit’s boots clicked on the street as she parked her bike alongside the sidewalk just outside. The street lights flickered in Hell’s night air, always a little broken. She got off of the bike’s seat and made her way to the door of the office, pulling out her keys in the process.
Unlocking it, she heard a familiar angelic ring and looked over her shoulder as Lucifer stepped through the portal he had summoned to get him there. He stumbled through it a little not-so-gracefully and caught himself before he fell on the seat of the motorcycle parked out front.
Kit’s motorcycle.
Lucifer stammered to himself and snapped his fingers, the portal shrinking. Kit could only see a flash of where he had been before portaling there; it looked like perhaps his bedroom?
Kit crossed her arms and leaned against the frame of the door, smirking at the display of the King of Hell and Sin of Pride stumbling over himself.
Lucifer looked up from the motorcycle and met Kit’s eyes. He stood straight up and fixed his posture, smiling at her, though it was nervous. He leaned on his cane and dusted off his tailcoat jacket as he cleared his throat and gestured to the bike.
“I take it, that's yours?”
Kit nodded and didn’t realize as she crossed her arms, the top she had worn to Bee’s party was having a hard time not letting her breasts spill out. “Been mine for five years now.”
Lucifer stepped around the bike and finally registered that she was most definitely not in her usual attire. He hadn’t expected that, but wasn’t complaining, either. She looked good; hot, even.
Did he really just have that thought?
“It’s nice. Manufactured from Wrath,” Lucifer commented as he avoided looking directly at her top where her cleavage was on the verge of popping out of the little top. Lucifer pulled on the collar of his shirt as subtly as possible, chuckling, “Satan loves making those bikes! They run amazingly, though!”
Kit raised a brow, confused on why he was rambling on about her bike. A simple ‘it’s nice’ was okay.
And Lucifer seemed to catch onto how he was rambling and stopped just before the steps of the building. He shook his head. “I mean, he really does pay attention to the function and… all that…”
The woman standing at the door to her office cracked an amused smile and motioned for him to follow her with one hand. “Come on. I’m sure you didn’t wanna meet just so you could talk about my bike.”
“Right!” Lucifer nodded and climbed the steps as she opened the door.
Kit stepped aside to let the shorter fallen angel walk by her and into the waiting lobby of her office building. As she closed the door behind them and locked it to ensure no nosy Sinners would come poking their nose into business they shouldn’t be, Kit noticed how Lucifer was looking around the lobby.
When she first decorated it, it had been bland, to say the least. More like a police department. Which, she supposed, was fine for a security company. But for her, it wouldn’t do. So, after a few years, it had been draped in blacks and purples with moody candle lighting. Very gothic and very much Kit.
Most of the furniture had been bought from thrift stores or given to her by Stolas whenever the Goetia would be forced to throw all their furniture away by Stella and purchase all new high end stuff. Kit would get them, spray paint them black if they weren’t already, and then set them up somewhere.
The plush and velvet couches that made up the waiting area of the lobby were a deep purple, the once golden frame painted black. The ornate little coffee table had been mahogany until the Paladin got her hands on it. Atop it were magazines from Hell’s media to keep clients entertained.
The front desk had a vintage, matching to the coffee table, ornate desk with a modern computer. The logo had a singular ‘K’ on it for the screen saver that would blink occasionally and in rhythm. The chair was one of the thrifted items. It gave Kit a vampiric vibe with the dark burgundy fabric and the black frame. She left that as the only red in her lobby. The plants were gifts from Stolas’ garden. Each potted plant had a unique arrangement throughout the room.
Lucifer’s boots thudded on the rug and he looked down. That was definitely a gift from Asmodeus. It was purple with subtle blue accents. The little curly designs were subtle in the way they went to shape something lewd and then just become a delicate little curl.
“You like the whole gothic thing, huh?” Lucifer commented as he looked around, admiring the way the candles flickered with an eternal flame and as it lit blue, he realized they were also a gift from Asmodeus.
“When I first came to Hell,” Kit started as she placed her keys on the front desk, “I wasn’t sure what I liked and then Vi… I mean, a Sinner I made friends with, introduced me to all these different decor styles and I found I liked the gothic and vintage vibe. I feel it suits me best.”
Lucifer nodded with an intrigued hum. He knew Kit was more alternative, and she had every right to explore what she liked now that she wasn’t regulated and ruled by Heaven’s laws. She most likely knew next to nothing of what and who she really was when she fell.
Kit then asked as she walked towards one of the plush couches, “What did you need?”
As she sat down, Lucifer cleared his throat in an attempt to focus on what he was really there for rather than… well, everything else. He sat on the couch opposite to the one she was one, wanting to give her space and not invade too much. He had a habit of being too much sometimes. Or, that’s what Lilith used to say, anyway.
“I just wanted to… thank you.” Lucifer finally said after a moment of stumbling.
Kit tilted her head as she leaned back and crossed her fishnet covered legs. “Thank me? For what?”
“Looking out for Charlie.” The older fallen angel set his cane to rest against the spray painted black frame of the couch. He clasped his hands together as he finally felt the awkwardness of the situation leave him. Now he could actually speak without his brain stalling. “She speaks highly of you and I kinda feel relieved you’re… well…”
Nevermind, he was back to being at a loss for words as he suddenly felt like he was offending the woman across from him while gesturing towards her with his hand.
Yet Kit was unbothered as she finished his thought for him. “A Paladin?”
“Yes!” Lucifer snapped his fingers and let out a breathy, albeit anxious laugh. “I still can’t believe you’re the same Kit that Beelzebub and Asmodeus kept talking about. I never would’ve thought of a fallen angel.”
“My real name is Kithara.” Kit told him, feeling as though it was alright to divulge some history.
He nodded in recognition at one of the many styles of naming for angels. Such as, after instruments. “Kithara. That’s a greek instrument. It can play a beautiful melody if you let it.”
Kit felt as though that were meant to be a compliment towards her, but she let it pass for the moment as she nodded. “When I came here, I figured it’d be better if I went by a different name. ‘Kit’ is just a nickname.”
“That’s fair.” Lucifer nodded and then tried to get himself back on topic, looking at how they got off topic. “Anyways, I just really wanted to thank you for looking out for Charlie. I know I’ve… not been the best…”
Kit furrowed her brows slightly as the Devil trailed off and looked down at his blackened hands for a moment. She waited for him to continue as he sucked in a quiet breath.
“I just… feel better knowing you’re there. Especially in Heaven where I can’t be there.” Lucifer redirected his thought and gestured with one hand upwards in the general direction of Heaven’s realm. “I’m just sorry if you feel any… bad feelings going back?”
“Bad feelings?” Kit raised a brow as the Sin of Pride finished his thought. She gave him a reassuring wave off and shook her head, “I’m not worried about that. There’s certain people I may throw hands with if I see them, but I don’t feel any type of way of just… taking a trip. If that makes sense?”
“Do you miss it?” Lucifer suddenly asked, catching Kit off guard as he looked back down at his lap, avoiding her eyes as he waited for her response.
“Being in Heaven?” Kit asked for clarity and when he nodded and met her eyes, she said, “Fuck no. I mean, I miss some of the people. But… I mean, it’s complicated? Ya know?”
The King of Hell laughed, nodding vigorously. Kit looked at the sharp-toothed smile as Lucifer laughed harder than she had seen thus far. He went from full-blown laughter to snickering as he tried to regain his composure. He had once said the same exact thing when one of the other Sins had asked him a similar question the first millennia into his rule of Hell.
“I do know; way too well,” Lucifer finally said after finally getting his giggling under control, wiping a small tear from one eye.
Kit smiled and let out a small laugh of her own before narrowing her eyes and saying, “You’re not what I imagined. When I was a Paladin, the way the elders spoke of you…”
He heaved a heavy sigh as his breathing evened out from the rib-hurting laughter. “Oh, yeah? What’d you expect? Humanity’s depiction of a little red man?”
“No,” Kit replied and shook her head, silvery white hair falling in her face slightly, “When I saw you for the first few times I had been at a few events for the Sins, I could tell you were an angel. Though, after meeting Satan, it would be reasonable to assume based on how much Heaven vilifies you that he was you?”
Lucifer nodded and gave her an amused grin, “Well, humans have a tendency to confuse the two of us. Satan, being the Sin of Wrath, gets a little more vocal than I ever did, but he’s not the Devil.”
“I see that.” Kit nodded in agreement and cracked a grin when he started up his laugh again.
“Heaven really fucking hates me, huh?” Lucifer said it as a joke, but she could see the hurt in his eyes. Even if it was for a brief moment.
“I wouldn’t say ‘hate’.” Kit tilted her head. “In the last five-hundred years, I think the only angels that ever spoke… negatively of you were mainly Adam and the Exorcists.”
Lucifer hummed and clapped his hands together. “That tracks! I did kinda steal his first wife… and maybe his second for a bit.”
“Yes, he never quite let that go.” Kit could recall the multitude of times Adam had bitched about his family when Earth first began. How Lilith had left him and how Eve was the root of evil for letting Lucifer give her the fruit of knowledge…
Come to think of it: Kit had never seen Eve in Heaven. Not once. Adam only ever talked about her in passing or when he was ranting about Hell. No one even spoke about her during Kit’s time in Heaven.
Not a thought for now. Focus, Kit, she thought and focused back on the fallen angel in front of her. Perhaps she could ask him his thoughts one day on that.
“Well, if he wasn’t a dick…” Lucifer trailed off and didn’t finish that thought as he remembered that Kit was right there and he was about to make a comment about fucking both of Adam’s wives.
Kit sighed and said to him, “You know, when I fell, I kinda just… let myself exist. I wanted to show Heaven how fucked they were and yet when I came here I just stopped trying.”
He looked at her with wide eyes, familiar with that feeling in a manner of speaking. “Sounds about right…”
“Then I met your daughter,” Kit stated and leaned forward on her knees, forgetting once again that her top was barely containing her breasts as she met his eyes with seriousness. “Charlie’s ideas… her plan reignited this… determination to prove that Heaven’s system is corrupt.”
Lucifer felt the intensity of her passion for it through the way her pale yellow eyes narrowed, the color of her irises popping against the light reddened sclera. He was silent as he felt she wasn’t done, and he was right.
“Paladins were created for one purpose; the protection of human souls,” Kit was ranting now, her posture becoming stiff and angry yet controlled under the pressure as she clasped her hands together tightly, sharp black nails breaking the skin of her hands. “How can I… be true to my oath as a Paladin when I had been forced to partake in the annihilation of human souls and expected to be content with it?”
Kit was starting to feel emotions from eons ago ebb into her heart and she quickly shut them down as she continued.
“To be erased from existence against one’s will, especially when that soul is connected to the very foundation of creation is…” Kit trailed off, uncertain of if there was a word that could quantify the dark and twisted nature of the act of Extermination.
“Evil?” Lucifer finished for her with raised brows.
“Unacceptable,” Kit sighed and straightened back up in her seat. “Evil… but I know… When the Paladins were part of it, it was more than just the Sinners. The Hellborn weren’t exempt, so there had to have been a lot of negotiation after my kind were pulled out. Am I right?”
Lucifer felt a twinge of guilt, but he had recalled the first meeting about Extermination Sera had with him following the change in the Paladin Army’s steel boots not treading on Hell’s grounds. Paladins were engineered to harm demon royalty and, as far as Lucifer knew, handle a Sin if necessary in a squadron. It was why for the first few years of Extermination, they didn’t have a choice. Following the sudden change in Paladin boots being pulled off the front lines and leaving the Exorcists alone, however, Lucifer could interfere all he liked as could Lilith.
Thus, the negotiations with Sera and Adam had begun. Without the Paladins, Adam couldn’t just do what he wanted, but he had to make a choice to put Lucifer in a corner with his hands tied. In exchange for allowing the Exorcists to kill the Sinners to control Hell’s population, the Hellborn would be spared. If he hadn’t agreed, everyone would’ve been in the Exorcist Army’s crosshairs just as they had been with the Paladins.
Including Charlie… and at least when Michael’s warriors were on the field, they never once dared to threaten his child’s life.
“Yeah… it would’ve been bad.” Lucifer admitted, feeling as though Extermination was entirely his fault even though he wasn’t the one to suggest Extermination. “I had to make a choice… I feel like Charlie resented me for allowing it, but…”
Lucifer clenched his fists as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He had to make a hard decision. He was the King of Hell, after all, and even though he hadn’t exactly been present for most of his duties since Lilith had left, he had been back then.
And Kit picked up on that as she leaned forward and reached a hand out to place atop one of his clenching the fabric of his suit pants, startling the Sin of Pride and making him look up at her with his mouth agape in surprise and eyes wide.
“You were forced to make a hard decision. It seemed the Extermination was going to happen either way even after the Paladins were removed from the equation,” Kit reasoned, her expression sympathetic. “Sometimes, in order to do the best for your people, you must make those choices. Else I fear the entirety of Hell would be no more. And I’ve met some wonderful people down here: Sinner and Hellborn alike.”
Lucifer’s mouth closed as he swallowed hard before relaxing and placing his free hand atop hers. He flashed her a genuine smile, feeling at ease – at peace – for the first time in centuries. “Thanks, Kit.”
She nodded in response and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze before letting go, which he allowed her to have her hand back as well, though suddenly, it felt cold not having her hand there.
Lucifer then glanced at the clock on the wall behind the front desk and realized how late it was; he would feel awful for keeping Kit out late. “Shit, it’s getting late. I should let you get back to the hotel, huh.”
Kit chuckled and waved it off as she stood. “It’s okay! I’d be getting back just as late if you hadn't called me.”
“Oh! Okay.” That made him feel a little bit better as he snapped his fingers and manifested a portal in a ring of golden light. He was quick to get to his feet, snatching his cane up in the process and standing before Kit, extending his hand out to her while leaning on his cane with the other. “Thank you, again, Kithara.”
Hearing her full name leave his lips had Kit do a mental double take as she reached one hand out to take his and shake it. “I’ve got her back. I promise.”
“I know. I… I trust you.” Lucifer said, feeling how strong Kit’s grip was as he held it in his for just a moment longer before letting go. He started to step through the portal, which was leading to his office in… well, where his palace or manor was. He looked back at Kit and smiled before snapping his fingers once more, the portal shrinking and popping out of existence.
And now Kit was left alone in the lobby of her office and, finally, she realized what she had been wearing as she felt the buttons of her top begin to give way and she looked down.
“Fuck me!” Kit swore and swiftly covered her chest as the fabric gave out.
At least it held up until after Lucifer left.

The tension between the Radio Demon and King of Hell was starting to agitate Kit as she was dragged down the corridors of the hotel by Charlie, earning a sympathetic glance from Vaggie occasionally as they toured the hotel.
Charlie was beyond excited to tell her father about the Hazbin Hotel; her red eyes lighting up whenever she’d get sidetracked explaining one thing and then leading onto another. Vaggie occasionally reigned her in and got her back on track, but it wasn’t too long before Charlie lost it again. And poor Lucifer just kept trying to look supportive, a nervous expression starting to cross his face as he nodded with everything his daughter said.
Alastor lagged a little bit behind them, appearing disinterested as his hotel business partner continued to babble away. He actually cared little for giving the Devil a tour of the Hazbin Hotel and trying to convince him it’s a good idea – he just wanted to piss Lucifer off and being close to Charlie seemed to be the ticket.
“So,” Charlie continued on as she explained to her dad her plan, “Once we have the proof that redemption is possible, this whole hotel will be full of demons wanting to check out into Heaven! We just need a little more time to prove it.”
Alastor was tuning out of the conversation, stopping in his tracks as he sensed another soul approaching him from behind, Husk’s voice catching his attention. Alastor’s red eyes shifted to glance over his shoulder.
“Hey, Boss?” Husk spoke quietly so as to not disturb the tour. “Can I have a word?”
There was a loud crack as Alastor’s head completely snapped around, eyes narrowed as the radio static filter momentarily left his voice. “What is it?”
Husk was unfazed as his body twisted to the right and realigned with his head. He thumbed over his shoulder, bushy brows furrowed. “You and I both know Mimzy only shows up when she needs somethin’. That bitch is trouble, and who knows what kinda demon she fucked with to come running to you this time.”
Husk had seen on one too many occasions where Mimzy had brought trouble to Alastor’s doorstep, and he used to not really give a fuck. There was one time, however, that almost resulted in Kumi getting hurt. That rubbed Husk the wrong way and, seeing as how Kumi and Alastor were whatever they were, it pissed the cat demon off that it didn’t bother Alastor as well.
And now they were working in an establishment with more people that Mimzy could get hurt. If she were there to actually attempt redemption, it’d be one thing, but Husk knew better.
Alastor didn’t seem to be worried, arching a brow expressively before tilting his head. His everlasting smile broadened as the static returned to his voice. “It’s nothing I can’t handle! Don’t worry, Husker!”
Husk watched as Alastor held his cane behind his back and turned to start catching up to the group. Husk’s claws balled into fists as he glared at the back of Alastor’s head.
“Who in their right mind would cross me?” Alastor asked rhetorically with amusement.
“I mean…” Husk closed his eyes and sighed, bracing himself for the inevitable abuse following his next statement. Opening his eyes again, he said, “You’ve been gone a while, and it’s not like anybody knows why…”
“They don’t need to know!” Alastor reminded him and swiftly came back to the short male, grabbing the other demon by the fluffy cat ear and petting him whilst saying in a mocking voice, “And don’t you worry your fuzzy head about it!”
Husk snarled and pushed his arm away, jabbing a finger into his chest, only met with narrowed red eyes and that sinister grin. “You may own my soul, but I ain’t your fucking pet!”
Alastor breathed a little giggle and turned, dipping backwards to peer up at Husk as his head spun around like a big top, spin cracking in the process. “Mmhm! But you are!”
As Alastor began to make his way back towards where he had last heard Charlie’s excited voice, Husk angrily growled after him, “Big talk for someone who’s also on a leash.”
The Radio Demon tensed, the lights in the hallway flickering as his steps faltered. Husk sucked in a breath, cursing himself for letting that slip out of his mouth, but it was true.
Alastor was on a leash; and he knew it. He didn’t know how much anyone else knew, but Husk knew Alastor was just as much of a pet as he is now. And it made the Radio Demon’s ears twitch and his grin crack for his own chained and owned soul to throw it back in his face.
There was a visual static around Alastor as he looked over his shoulder, pupils now red glowing radio dials as he chuckled, sinister and not at all amused. “What did you say?”
Husk grunted as glowing, bright green chains formed, a collar snapping around his neck. He was forced to the ground as the chains snapped downwards, leading towards the grip Alastor had as the Overlord tugged on the connection of his soul.
“Oh fuck! Nothing, I, um–” Husk was cut off by another rough tug on his chain.
Alastor slowly approached him, wrapping the end of the chain around his forearm as he went. The lights around them dimmed, turning red.
“If you ever say that again,” Alastor’s tone had completely shifted into something more… void and empty of anything but the quiet rage boiling in his soul from Husk’s words. “I will tear out your soul and broadcast your screams…”
Husk tried to back up, forced forward by the chain as he looked up at his boss with wide, fearful eyes. Alastor’s body contorted as it grew in size, his demon form on the verge of appearing as his deer antlers elongated. The lights around Alastor went completely out, the one above his head the exception as it burned a sinister red color. Husk closed his eyes and looked down, not daring to look in Alastor’s face.
The Radio Demon’s voice contorted, layering over itself in demonic choir as Husk covered his face with his arms. “For every other disrespectful wretch…”
The lights suddenly returned to normal and Husk moved his hands to find that Alastor had returned to his normal form to lean down and get right in the other demon’s face; the little show he displayed a simple warning.
“Who dares to question me.” Alastor finished his rant, eyes dangerously narrowed on Husk’s now trembling form.
“Understood.” Husk nodded, just wanting Alastor to fuck off so he could piss himself with some semblance of dignity.
“Lovely,” Alastor’s tone still held a warning twinge before he shifted his mood, old time-y music playing from the radio static surrounding his aura. Alastor fixed his bowtie and cheerfully chuckled. “Good talk, my good man! Always nice to catch up!”
Though it didn’t seem like he was interested in catching up to Charlie’s touring group now as he spun his microphone staff and walked off in a totally different direction, leaving poor Husk shuddering in the hallway, the chains around his throat now gone.
Meanwhile, Charlie had finally led her father to the balcony facing towards Pentagram City, deciding to take a moment to just talk about the hotel. Vaggie was doing her best to help and Kit… well, she was just there for the moment. Hell’s warm evening air was already starting to become sweltering save for the breeze that came by occasionally. Being an angel made of stardust, Kit was suddenly grateful she ran a touch colder than most of the mortals in Hell.
“And we’ve almost found all of Angel’s drug stashes,” Vaggie explained proudly as she smiled supportively and leaned against the railing behind her. “Almost…”
Kit let herself lean back against the wall, arms crossed as she watched them. She didn’t have any interest or input to give; she did believe redemption was possible and Heaven had everything so wrong, but she felt like Charlie was hitting all those marks in discussion for her.
And what the hell could Kit even say?
Charlie leaned towards her dad a little bit, a hopeful gleam in her eyes. “So, once that’s out of the way, it should be much smoother sailing!”
Lucifer was finally given a chance to speak as both Charlie and Vaggie looked at him. The pained, polite smile he had put on for his daughter’s sake had finally worn away as reality set in that she was genuinely going to try and do something he had seen and done and failed to do a million times. He hummed and started to walk towards the balcony railing, apple cane gripped tightly in both hands as he tried to find the words.
“Well, that certainly is, uh… is-is something…” He looked up at the sky a little blankly as he processed everyone Charlie had said.
His daughter stood proudly next to Vaggie, who shot her a support and loving smile, before the Princess of Hell gestured to the hotel around them with open arms and asked, “So… what do you think?”
Kit’s eyes shifted from Charlie, to Lucifer, and then back to Charlie. Lucifer was a fallen angel like her… like Vaggie, though only Kit was privy to that fact. Kit had her own reservations about meeting with Heaven; Kit knew those in power up there and she knew what they would do and say.
Lucifer… he had more history with all of them. Way more than her. Kit could recall Michael’s many rants about how Lucifer had ‘messed it all up’ during her early years as Paladin. So, she felt like she knew where this was going.
Lucifer turned to Charlie with wide eyes, seeming caught off guard and in thought. “About what?”
Charlie narrowed her eyes, exasperated as she nervously reminded him. “The hotel!”
His eyes widened and he got back on track, looking back out towards the city, trying to sound as supportive as he could. “Oh yes, it does… it does look much better now, doesn’t it?”
He chuckled and looked back towards the closed doors of the balcony before gesturing to the rail with an elbow. He was avoiding her actual question, anxiety etched onto his face as he redirected the conversation from where it was originally heading. Charlie was just frustrated that he was dodging it as she stepped closer to him and placed her hands on the rail.
“Ya know, but I’m thinking this railing needs work,” Lucifer pointed out, hoping his daughter doesn’t round back to the actual meaning of her question. “One good push and you’d just go right over the edge.”
As if to prove his non-existent point, the King of Hell turned and laid back on the railing, flamboyantly kicking one leg in the air and extending his arms theatrically as he balanced himself over the rail.
“Whoopie!” He then swiftly sat back up, his hat miraculously still on as he stood once again and chuckled. “Bye-bye!”
Kit and Vaggie shared a look of worry as Charlie’s eye twitched in irritation.
“What?” Charlie made a few dismissing gestures with her hands and looked at her dad in exasperation. “No, no! The plan, Dad!”
Lucifer took a deep breath and looked upwards towards the red skies of Hell, now leaning forward railing as an exhausted look crossed his face. He looked as though thousands of pounds had just been placed on him as Charlie pushed the subject.
“What do you think about using the hotel to help sinners?” Charlie held her breath and waited for her father to finally answer her real question.
Lucifer heaved an almost pained sigh before looking at his daughter, tone shifting to a serious and non-joking one. “Alright.”
Charlie was finally getting somewhere as she waited, her father turning to her fully and giving her his attention.
He clapped his hands together. “I mean… look. I love that you want to see the best in people, but these… Sinners,” He gestured with one hand towards the city before clutching his cane close to his chest, shaking his head with a frown, “You know, they’re just the worst.”
Seeing as how the man had seen a variety of awful people and terribly tainted souls, Kit wasn’t surprised that those words came out of his mouth. Charlie looked disappointed though as her father continued, though he was being sincere.
“I… I don’t know how much you can realistically expect from them and Heaven…” Lucifer let out an anxious sigh and tugged on the collar of his coat. “Hohoo boy, Heaven is not exactly as carefree as you might think.”
Charlie brought her hands together and listened to her father, her smile completely gone and replaced with a disappointed little frown.
Kit agreed with Lucifer, however. He wasn’t wrong, but she could see where rattling Heaven’s cage could prove useful to them.
“Yeah, they have rules,” Lucifer continued on, making sure to stress that their rules dictate what Charlie could and couldn’t do. “Lots of rules. And they aren’t very open minded as you’d hope.”
“Kit’s here!” Charlie pointed out and gestured towards the poor woman that had been just a fly on the wall until that moment.
Kit blinked, her expression blank as she tried to process being dragged into something. “What?”
Charlie continued on, gesturing towards the fallen angel in question. “A Paladin of Michael fell down here because she believes Heaven is wrong too! If her mind was changed, I’m sure other Angels would think the same thing!”
Kit cleared her throat and quickly interjected, “The higher ups of Heaven are very set in their ways, Kid. There may be other angels that agree with me in regard to Extermination, but they’ll never breathe a word of it in fear of banishment or other forms of punishment.”
Lucifer nodded in agreement and added, “The Elders are very set in their way of law and rules and… all those rules! It’s just the way it is.”
He crossed his arms, apple cane dangling from one hand as he brought a closed fist up to his sharp toothed mouth, brows knitted together as he waited for Charlie’s reaction with baited breath. It were as though he were waiting for the worst outcome.
Vaggie turned her head away to avoid seeing the despair on Charlie’s face as the younger Morningstar desperately tried to reason with her father. “These are our people, Dad! I.. I have to try.”
“Our ‘people,’ Charlie, are awful!” Lucifer snapped a little bit, looking back out towards the skyline of his hellish kingdom and gestured towards it. “They got gifted free will and look what they did with it! Everything’s terrible!”
He then let out a nervous wheeze as he suddenly felt like he couldn’t quite breathe with the way his child looked at him with… resent in that moment. He tugged on his bowtie and tried his hardest to show her he wasn’t just trying to shut her plan down, but show her the reality of it.
“I just don’t want you to put yourself on the line for people like–”
He was cut off as the entire hotel shook, a loud bang resounding from the ground. Everyone jumped to grab something to steady themselves and regain balance.
“Fucking hell…” Kit grumbled as she regained her balance, catching Vaggie before she went over the rail she had been leaning against.
“Geez!” Vaggie grunted as Kit let her go. “What now?!”
Lucifer then looked over the balcony and gestured to the doors of the hotel below, finishing his initial thought about their people. “Well, like that.”
Down below at the entrance to the Hazbin Hotel, a group of shark demons dressed like the mafia were trying to bust the door down with a battering ram. They were yelling for Mimzy and, if Kit narrowed her eyes, she could almost swear they were Hellborn from the Greed Ring.
Loan Sharks.
What the fuck is Alastor’s friend into? Kit thought to herself with a partial snarl as she pushed herself back from the rail, already making plans in her head to take the creatures apart piece by piece before then throwing the little Sinner out on her ass once she was done.
The Hazbin Hotel was open to all Sinners wanting to redeem themselves, but since Mimzy had stepped into the lobby with her little display of showgirl confetti and sparkle, Kit knew there had been something wrong. Husk and Kumi both had been rather put off by her and she was too eagerly playing into Alastor’s welcome.
Not to mention how she all but greedily pushed herself between her and Lucifer earlier.
“Mimzy!” The leader called out, a fat, cheap cigar lit between his scaly lips. “We know you’re in there, you lousy bitch!”
At the bar just inside the lobby, Mimzy looked at Angel and Sir Pentious nervously before sliding to the floor. “Oh shit…”
The bar patrons watched as a golden light formed in front of them before expanding into a circle, opening a portal from the balcony; one of Lucifer’s portals, one would assume. Everyone stepped in from the balcony as another loud thud met the door of the hotel. While everyone else looked concerned or panicked, Lucifer looked somewhat pleased. Their terrible people had just come to his daughter’s doorstep to prove his point perfectly.
Charlie looked worried as Vaggie growled, “Que carajo?!”
Kit gently moved Charlie to the side and joined Vaggie as she demanded with an authoritative bellow, “Anyone wanna fill me in on the fuck with happening?”
Mimzy chuckled nervously from the floor, earning the attention of both Vaggie and Kit. “I maaaaay be in trouble with some loan sharks I may or may not have borrowed fifty grand from – eep!”
Another resounding thud and the little demon jumped to hide behind the bar where Husk just glared down at her. She peeked over the bar as both Kit and Vaggie stared her down angrily.
“And I may have also stolen a car… and crashed it… into the loan shark’s girlfriend.”
Everyone stared at her now in disbelief, and she flipped a little from being scared to annoyed.
“But that bitch had it coming!”
Just as she said that, a flaming boulder was launched from a catapult into one of the windows, landing just before the bar with a crash. Angel Dust narrowly dodged being burned as he gracefully moved his legs. Niffty cried out about her windows and began to lose her mind while Sir Pentious barely managed to dodge the next few smaller rocks that came flying in.
Lucifer looked to his daughter and gestured to the chaos as everyone began to scramble in a panic. “You see, this is exactly what I’m talking about, Charlie. You build something nice, invite people in and offer them everything and they just bring violence and chaos to your doorstep!”
Husk worked to try and put the fires out where he could, Angel aiding to the best of his ability as Mimzy hid under the bar. Niffty ran around with Pentious on her tail to catch her before she hurt herself.
And Lucifer looked a little too smug for Charlie’s liking as she looked as though she were about to snap at him.
“It doesn’t matter how well intentioned you are,” Lucifer continued, shaking his head. “They’re always gonna disappoint you!”
That sounded almost a little too personal.
Pentious managed to save Niffty from an incoming boulder as Kit growled, finally having enough. She raised her hand and extended her forefinger, moving her hand around in a circle motion. Holy light materialized from the tip of her finger, completing a glowing gold circle.
Magic pulsed from the center of the circle and with an electric buzz, a beam of holy light emitted from the center and fired at the next large boulder, the bolt hitting the rock and obliterating it. All that fell into the hotel was ash.
“Vaggie, keep everyone here safe,” Kit called out to her as said woman drew her angelic spear. “I’ll handle this.”
Kit’s axe materialized with a small glow of holy light, gripping the handle in both hands before starting for the doors of the hotel. She only made it two steps before a red fingered hand grabbed her shoulder. She turned her head to meet Alastor’s eyes as the Radio Demon manifested next to her.
“No, my dear, leave it to me.” Alastor assured her, “I allowed this into our establishment, I’ll clean up the mess.”
Kit narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously as he let her shoulder go and took a deep breath.
“It’s time I remind everyone why I am here.” He said, teeth permanently stuck in a smile, a yellow glow flashing with each word that would’ve left his mouth. His eyes turned into the little red radio dials.
Mimzy let out a heavy sigh and dramatically flopped herself onto the bar’s surface. “Oh, finally! Took ya long enough!”
Everything began to glow with a green aura as Alastor’s voice echoed now around the hotel.
“A reminder to all,” he started as black tentacles glowing green sprouted from his back, antlers growing longer. “Not to mess with the Radio Demon!”
The inky tendrils lifted him up in the air by two while the remaining four lunged forward and stretched outside to begin slaughtering the demons at their doorstep. Screams could be heard as Mimzy rushed to the now open doors to have a peek, cheering Alastor on.
There was a thundering rumble as Alastor’s form grew larger, limbs becoming unproportionate as he approached and went through the door, his entire aura surrounded in the green glow.
“I will devour each and every one of you!” Alastor bellowed as he became nearly as tall as the hotel itself, lunging forward to brutally maim the loan sharks while Mimzy stood in awe.
Kit let out a strangled sigh, biting her lip as she pondered if she had made the right call about letting Alastor handle it. Blood was flying through the air, organs tangled around a few of the street lamps.
Charlie ran to the door to see what was happening, her father following in tow and leaning on his cane while his daughter looked outside in utter disbelief.
“Mhm, ya see? What’d I tell ya?” Lucifer nudged her with an elbow. “Charlie, sinners are violent psychopaths, hellbent on causing as much pain and destruction as they can.”
Kit didn’t agree with that as she approached them, more focused on whether or not she’d need to step in and stop Alastor. Perhaps that was because she had met many souls from different lives that had been lived; many good and bad. Killers with good hearts and clean hands with terrible tainted souls more vile than any dark entity she’s known.
They all had dreams, fears and thoughts. Of course, she didn’t know what Lucifer thought and he was trying to protect Charlie from something Kit and even Vaggie knew could be much more sinister through the right lens: Heaven.
Lucifer looked away from Charlie, feeling confident he had made his point, signature Devil smile on his face as he made sure to see the persuasive deal that it was hopeless to try and save them. “There’s really no point in trying.”
And that was when Charlie finally had enough.
“Dad, stop!” Charlie spun around and angrily gestured to the carnage outside. “He’s defending this hotel! It may be a bit more sadistic than I’d hoped, but he’s doing it for me!”
Kit came to a stop next to Angel Dust and the others, who had flipped out a couch and was watching the father/daughter drama go down from behind it. Husk had at some point made popcorn, which confused Kit on where the hell he made it without leaving the lobby, but she was beyond the point of asking questions. Charlie turned her back to her father, arms crossed with a hurt look on her face.
“How come he can have faith in me, but my own father can’t?” Charlie only glanced over her shoulder once at her father before turning away completely.
Angel Dust made an ‘ooh’ sound as he grabbed the thing of popcorn Husk had made and leaned over to Kit and whispered, “Drama!”
Lucifer’s face fell from the smug ‘Devil’ persona, sincerity returning to his expression as he looked at the hurt look his daughter gave him and felt it tug on his heart.
Meanwhile, Alastor had finished dispatching the unfortunate demons that came knocking on their door and he shapeshifted back to his normal size, the green glow dissipating. “Oh, I missed getting to let off steam!”
Mimzy peered out to make sure it was over before approaching her old friend while clapping. “Oh, Alastor! What a fantastic show! Bravo, as always!”
Alastor turned to face her, though his eyes were somewhere else as Mimzy spoke. They settled on the hotel’s doors, meeting the piercing pale yellow of the fallen Paladin angel inside. Kit was staring him down rather hard with an agitated gleam shimmering behind them.
That look was for him; she was warning him to take care of Mimzy. That much he could feel. So long as Mimzy was there with no intention of redemption, she was just an unnecessary security risk. One the hotel couldn’t afford.
And this was one chance to gain good points with the resident Paladin Angel who’d more than likely rip him limb from limb if he didn’t get on her good side.
“Thanks for helping lil’ old me outta a tough spot. You’re always such a pal!” Mimzy continued and nearly jumped as some rubble from the hotel fell next to her, stirring up dust. “Oops! Hehehe, sorry about the mess, but I’m sure the lil’ bug can take care of it for ya.”
Alastor never broke eye contact with the fallen angel as he said, “I think you should go, Mimzy. Now.”
Mimzy let out a giggle. “Oh, pfft! Alastor, you’re such a kidder, you! Haha, you are so funny…”
“I mean it,” he replied, sterner as his eyes finally shifted to her. “You deliberately brought danger to this place just to have me clean up your mess. I can’t have that here.”
Mimzy batted her lashes at him and gave him a pouty smile. “But you love takin’ care of me! What?”
She walked around to his front, sneering towards the hotel.
“You dont’t actually give a shit about this tacky place, do ya? Come on. I know you.” She jabbed a finger into his chest with each word she said next next. “You heartless son of a bitch.”
He grabbed her dainty hand and removed it from his chest. “You are welcome if you actually want to give redemption a shot.”
Mimzy looked up at him with a mix of disbelief, shock and disgust. He tapped her sharply hooked nose with one finger.
“But I think we both know that’s not really your style.” He finished and started to walk towards the hotel, stopping only to look back at her. “So, you need to leave.”
Mimzy spluttered, angry. “Fine! Who needs ya? Have fun with ya lil’ princess and ya lil’ hotel! See if I care!”
As Alastor watched Mimzy storm off and down the road of the hotel’s hill, he briefly glanced back over his shoulder to see the eyes that had been scrutinizing him finally disconnected and looked elsewhere, seemingly pleased with the result of Mimzy’s departure. The Radio Demon’s permanent smile twitched slightly before he began to make his way towards the open doors of the hotel now secured.
Kit had been watching Alastor, waiting for him to allow Mimzy more free reign of their establishment, but she could sense from a good while away that there was no way that woman was willingly going to stay there and allow herself redemption. It was more trouble than it was worth.
The fallen angel stepped back from the doorway and off to the side, axe dissipating in a mist of golden light particles. She was… proud of Alastor for turning away his friend. Perhaps ‘proud’ wasn’t the right word, but nothing else came to her mind as she heard Husk hum from behind her in approval, also watching the exchange between Alastor and Mimzy.
Their attention was drawn from the Radio Demon, however, as they remembered that Charlie and her father were still having their debate on whether or not Charlie’s idea was even worth her fighting for. And upon Charlie’s outburst about Alastor believing in her over her own father, Lucifer had turned away from the carnage outside their doorstep and began to walk away from the doors. Charlie was on his heels instantly as the King of Hell lowered his head, his expression distraught… almost sorrowful.
“Dad…” Charlie desperately pleaded, the sound of her strained voice making Lucifer stop in his tracks, though he refused to turn around. “Please… just… help me!”
Kit crossed her arms, feeling as though lead had settled in her chest. She knew from the get go when Vaggie suggested that Charlie call her father that it would end poorly. Lucifer wasn’t wrong about Heaven.
She could recall her own fall; the angels that had begun to question the Extermination were quickly silenced by Sera, the High Seraphim. Kit’s ‘fall’ was meant to be a warning to other angels as it had been with Lucifer not to question the rules and laws of Heaven’s structure.
And although she had caused a few fellow Paladins and other angels to raise their brows in question, if they had even a slightly altered thought, they’d never dare voice it. She wasn’t even sure all of Heaven knew about Adam’s yearly activities.
Lucifer heaved a heavy sigh and finally looked over his shoulder, fearing the sad little look on Charlie’s face. The disappointment on her face already tugged at his heart as he admitted to her, “I… I can’t…”
He turned away from her again, head lowered in shame as his shoulders slumped. Charlie had never seen her father look so defeated – exhausted in his stature. Yet, her mission was far too important to ponder at that moment.
With frustration as to why he simply couldn’t do one thing for her, she clenched her fists and held them in front of her chest. Her voice was filled with exasperation. “Why can’t you?”
The older Morningstar snapped and spun around, lunging forward and grabbing her by the shoulders. His steps were nearly frantic, causing him to stumble as he caught himself and looked up at her. The desperation in his red eyes startled Charlie as her voice trailed off from the frustration. Lucifer looked up at his daughter, brows furrowed together in worry.
“Charlie!” The fallen angel gasped, “You don’t understand!”
Charlie’s eyes widened, now feeling the amount of sorrow… desperation radiating off of her father. He almost seemed scared in the way he looked upwards, raising a blackened hand towards the sky.
“Heaven never listens!” Lucifer exclaimed, letting her go and stepping back while gesturing to himself. “They didn’t listen to me! They won’t listen to you!”
Kit felt her heart hurt, which startled her as Angel Dust came to stand beside her, watching the argument unfold. Lucifer was right. It was… not even unlikely. There was no way the elders of Heaven would even spare Charlie a glance nonetheless the opportunity to prove herself.
And that hurt. Kit hurt for the kid. Charlie was so passionate and open-minded, and it was a trait one would think Angels would have and value. Yet it was squashed out by the ego-centric douchebags like Adam that couldn’t even think without consulting his dick. And Sera… she was another level of close-minded.
Lucifer turned away from Charlie again, feeling overwhelmed that he was having this argument with his child at that moment. It was as if everything he had feared was becoming reality. His daughter was about to be in Heaven’s crosshairs, and she didn’t even understand what that meant!
Charlie angrily narrowed her eyes and flung out her hands in frustration. “You don’t know that!”
The Princess of Hell was then stunned when her father faced her again, red eyes now slitted as tears welled in the corners of them. She was in disbelief, frustration evaporating as Lucifer closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He was being sincere; she could tell, yet her heart yearned to push and pull to get something done that could help the hotel.
Lucifer sighed and looked away from Charlie once more, the others in the lobby forgotten as the fallen angel started to sing softly… pained in his words, “You didn’t know that when…”
The King walked towards the center of the lobby, extending his arms, cane dangling from one hand as he looked around, seemingly in pain from memories and regret. The sorrow was etched onto his angel-painted face.
“I tried this all before…” Angelic magic manifested in a golden lit flame in the palm of Lucifer’s free hand and he stared at it, frowning as he recalled his own attempts to make right with Heaven. “My dreams were too hard to defend!”
He cast the golden flame of light to the ground, as if mimicking his fall from grace and Charlie was quick to drop to her knees, hands moving to cradle the little light of magic as she looked down at it. Lucifer didn’t even look to see how the little flame had fallen, eyes closed as he grimaced. Charlie’s heart suddenly lurched, brows knitted together as if realization was dawning on her for the first time that perhaps her father was hurting far more than she knew.
Lucifer then came to her, crouching and taking her hands in his and away from the little ball of holy fire and holding them. They stood together, Charlie’s attention now on him as he continued to sing to her.
“And in the end…” Lucifer suddenly felt like he was back in Heaven, ready to be cast out. “I won’t lose it all again…”
The shame on his face and the sadness had Charlie’s eyes wide, though she couldn’t see what her father was experiencing down to his core. Lucifer’s vision was suddenly manipulated; warped as shadows appeared, shaped like his fellow Angels. He could feel their all-seeing eyes on him, spears of holy light trained on his back as he prepared to be erased from existence; yet he was sentenced to live with the evil he had allowed into Earth.
And as he looked at his little girl, fear gripped his heart as he saw more similar and familiar angelic shapes be taken on in the shadows behind her. Oblivious and innocent to it all and unable to see, yet she stood there, wanting to help Sinners. Lucifer’s eyes widened, the desperation returning as he was being shown the manifesting vision of his fears. He never wanted Charlie to experience Heaven’s wrath and as those spears of holy light came from the shadows in his vision and towards her, Lucifer pulled his daughter towards him and shifted their positions so he had his back to the shadows, protecting Charlie from something she couldn’t even see.
And the shadows dissipated, Lucifer’s depressed and tired mind weary as he looked up at his daughter. “Now you’re the only thing worth fighting for!”
His grip on Charlie’s hands tightened and the younger Morningstar looked down at her father as he expressed his worry – his fear.
“More than anything… more than anything!” Lucifer shook his head and pulled Charlie to him, hugging her tightly as if he’d let go and Heaven would open up above them and take her from him. “I’ll shelter and adore you more than anything…”
Charlie pulled away from her father and looked down at him, eyes softening for the first time since he had arrived at the hotel as she said, “Dad, I don’t need you to protect me from this…”
Lucifer appeared absolutely drained as he returned his daughter’s gaze, the bags under his eyes suddenly more evident as he replied, “I just don’t want you to be crushed by them like…”
He trailed, looking like he was about to choke on his words as he stepped back from Charlie and turned away from her, head down and eyes screwed shut. He clenched his jaw as he felt the anxiety… the dread and regret well within his chest. Heavy and suffocating.
“Like I was…” He finally finished, voice wavering.
“Dad…” Charlie felt a weight on her chest now, realizing he had also tried in his own way to do something about the Sinners. He had been crushed… lost hope. And so, Charlie closed her eyes, took a deep breath and began to sing. “When I was young, I didn’t really know you at all…”
Charlie could remember being so small and pattering to her father’s office in the Morningstar Estate. He always worked so late into the night, and Charlie couldn’t help but seek him out.
“I always felt so small…”
A little Charlie would creep into her father’s office and scurry to the bottom of the steps that lead up to the platform where Lucifer’s desk was. The office was cleaner than it was in the present. No rubber ducks piled everywhere with tools and circus decor forgotten and loitering the room. Charlie would approach and Lucifer would always turn upon hearing her, smiling and offering his baby girl to sit on his lap so she could see whatever he was working on. Charlie could recall the stories he’d tell of Heaven… his ideas for creation.
And now, she felt a tear slide down her cheek as she realized her father’s desire for those ideas had been long since crushed and snuffed out. “But I heard your stories and I was enthralled… The tales about your lofty dreams… I listened breathlessly; imagining it could me…”
It was a good memory. The kind of memories Charlie should have held onto more as she then recalled that it wasn’t exactly okay between her parents by that time… by the last memory of her sneaking into her dad’s office. She could recall her mother, Lilith, coming into the room to take Charlie from Lucifer’s arms and, before their problems, it was with a little laugh about how Charlie needed to be in bed. At that time, it was a wordless pick up and Charlie could see her father reach out for them as Lilith would turn her back and carry the young Charlie towards the door. The view she had of her father sitting there, hurt in his eyes and the beginning of passion crumbling made Charlie feel more determined to make her dream something worth fighting for.
“So in the end,” Charlie sang now, clasping her hands together against her chest, “It’s the view I had of you… that showed me dreams can be worth fighting for…”
She then looked around as the people she had grown close to became more evident in the hotel lobby. She gestured a hand towards a bored Husk, an indifferent Angel, and a teary-eyed Pentious tilting her head as she smiled.
“More than anything…”
Charlie’s smile broadened as she then looked behind her and towards the doors of the hotel, where Vaggie stood and smiled at her proudly, Kit standing next to her with her arms crossed and a small yet noticeable grin on her face – supportive and kind. Alastor had fully returned back inside at that point and Niffty bounced after him, making Charlie’s smile widen so much it felt like her face would crack as her heart swelled, reminding her why she was doing this.
“More than anything!” Charlie spun back around to look at her dad, a new fire alight in her red eyes mirroring his own. “I need to save my people more than anything!”
Lucifer’s eyes became glossy with tears as his heart swelled with pride towards the young woman standing before him, feeling suddenly a little lighter as he started to walk towards her. His smile was back, genuine and soft. “I’ve been dying to find out who you are!”
Charlie started towards him, finally feeling at peace with her father in some way. “I’ve been waiting; wanting the same thing!”
“Looks like the apple doesn’t fall far,” Lucifer sang as he wiped a tear away from one eye.
The younger Morningstar felt teary as she smiled with hope at her father, finally meeting him in the middle. “Took you a while!”
“I’ve missed that smile!” He held her face in his hands and looked at her adoringly, feeling as though he were on cloud nine now that he had his daughter back.
They parted and sang together, taking each other’s hands and starting to dance around like in a waltz at first before spinning. “All that I’m hopin’ now that my eyes are open; is that we can start again! Not be pulled apart again!”
As they stopped in front of the grand staircase, Lucifer held his apple cane between them and Charlie watched in awe as the apple was engulfed in her father’s angelic magic, golden glow sparking before launching into the air in a big blast. As holy-seeming light burst into a portal above them, Charlie’s eyes widened as three sets of Angel wings sprouted from her father’s back, the outer wings pristine white while the inner feathers were stained red. They were large; mesmerizing and beautiful.
Everyone, aside from Alastor, looked on in awe at Lucifer’s wings. Kit knew Lucifer was Michael’s brother; she had heard enough to know that God made both Angels from the same light, and yet somehow, the Morningstar seemed far more graceful than his sibling. Michael’s wings were similar, the red would’ve been a pale blue and Kit felt a sense of nostalgia.
Lucifer and Charlie continued to sing as the portal above them opened, bright fairy lights hanging from what looked to be a circus tent; perhaps his dimension?
“Cause in the end…”
Lucifer opened up his arms, smiling up at Charlie before she laughed and hugged her dad around the neck, holding on as Lucifer’s wings moved and lifted them upwards into the portal of his dimension.
Charlie looked around in utter awe at all the golden lights, beautiful magic swirling around the deep red tent they were flying around as lights dangled around them.
“You are part of who I am!”
And then Lucifer broke out of their duet and held his daughter close as his wings carried them around the dimension he had spawned. “I’ll support your dream; whatever lies in store!”
Charlie teared up and hugged her father tight, “And who could ask for more?!”
A waterfall of golden magic in the dimension was overflowing and Lucifer flew over the well, flying low enough to let his little girl dip her hand into the pure joy that came from the contact with holy magic. “More than anything!”
“More than anything!”
They diverted back and Lucifer gently threw her into the air, his magic manifesting a spotlight to follow her as he continued to sing, “More than anything!”
Charlie bent one leg and threw her arms back, looking upwards as she struck a pose in the little toss before being caught again by her father. “More than anything!”
Lucifer looked down at her with adoration, feeling truly as if something has finally fallen into place in his life. “I’m grateful you’re my daughter…”
And as Charlie looked up at him, she sang in tandem with him, “I’m grateful you’re my father…”
They hugged, both teary as together they sang, “More than anything!”
Lucifer lowered them back down and out of the portal, the hotel residents standing around them as said portal closed and Lucifer’s wings retreated back, seemingly disappearing into his tailcoat as they continued to hug.
“More than anything…”
There was a sweet and calm moment of silence. Angel Dust smiled at the sweet interaction while Husk continued to look done with the entire situation, nursing a beer. Pentious looked to be on the verge of tears as he looked back at the other two men and said, “That was sweet…”
Kit felt Vaggie nudge her side and the taller fallen angel looked down at her, raising a brow as Vaggie gave her a knowing smile. Charlie was about to get her meeting with Heaven; this was a little victory for the Hazbin Hotel; though, Kit knew it was far from over as her pale yellow eyes returned to the father and daughter duo.
Lucifer finally pulled away from his daughter and frowned, uncertainty in his red eyes as he said, “Okay, I can get you the meeting, but once you’re in Heaven…”
He trailed off and looked down, feeling a weight on his chest as he took a small breath. Charlie waited patiently, smiling at him with encouragement.
“I… won’t be able to go with you…” Lucifer finally finished, furrowing his brows in worry as he looked up at her and asked, “Will you be okay?”
Charlie grabbed her father’s hand coiled around his cane, bringing the symbolic little apple head between them as she covered his blackened hand with her dainty white ones. She gave him a strong look of assurance. “I’ll be fine.”
Lucifer smiled and placed his other hand atop hers. “That’s my girl.”
She nodded and then added, “And Kit will come with me.” Charlie looked back over her shoulder and towards the fallen Paladin with a hopeful gleam. “Right?”
Kit felt something tug in her chest at the reassurance the younger Morningstar was seeking from her. Kit ran a hand through her white locks of hair and nodded, giving her a little grin. “I got your back, Kid.”
Lucifer’s eyes flickered from Charlie and to the Paladin Angel standing back with the others residing at the hotel and he felt relief. Relief knowing that Charlie would be safer than anyone in Hell. A Paladin was a powerful force; it would be unwise for anyone to provoke Charlie with Kit standing in her corner.
Lucifer drew his attention away from the tall woman and back to Charlie, realizing he may have lingered a little too long while staring at her. He let go of Charlie’s hand and smiled at her, but he couldn’t squash the anxiety and dread he felt knowing she would be in Heaven’s realm where he himself couldn’t protect her. So, his smile faltered and he let out an anxious sigh, collecting his thoughts before letting his cane’s bottom tap the floor. His hands rested atop the apple as he looked back at Charlie, the anxiety momentarily overpowered by the pride he felt.
He tilted his head and said, “Good luck, Kiddo.”
Charlie felt tears prick at her eyes as the red mist with golden sparkles of light enveloped her father – and then he was gone from the hotel. Charlie suddenly felt… anxious. Excited, but very anxious as she started to turn to the others, only to find her girlfriend meeting her halfway.
Vaggie scratched the back of her neck as she remarked, “This next part is gonna be… scary. You ready?”
Charlie swallowed her anxiety and smiled, yanking Vaggie into a hug. “I’m ready! Cause you’ll be with me!”
Kit’s eyes widened upon hearing those words. Charlie had no idea still that Vaggie was a former Exorcist; and now they were all going to Heaven together? Kit slipped her hands into the packets of her vest coat, narrowing her eyes as she tried not to think about the disaster they were going to walk into.
And Vaggie had the same thought as she returned Charlie’s hug, her one eye snapping open and meeting Kit’s eyes anxiously from across the lobby as she asked Charlie, “In spirit… right?”
Charlie squeezed her in response and said with more determination than anticipated, “In Heaven!”
“Yay…!” Vaggie gave Kit a terrified look, which Kit returned with a skeptical arch of one eyebrow as if telling Vaggie to spill the tea now and get it over with before they made it to Heaven.
Though, that was unlikely to happen.

Summer is here! I'm working on some little Hazbin Hotel fanmerch keychains for my shop on ACGGOODS! This is just a lil teaser with art of Lucifer and my OC, Kit!
Both of them will be keychains! There will be other OCs featured from my AU/fanfiction made into keychains as well as canon characters such as Alastor and Adam also. These little keychains will release the first week of July!
Check out the linkree in my bio or the pinned post on my blog to go to my shop or learn more about the fic. We also have a discord where you can get direct updates on art, fanmerch, the fanfiction and more!
This is a redraw of Kit's original face I had done about two years ago (I think?). I'll post the original one below as well for comparison. Verosika was a MAJOR inspo for Kit's og character study.
OOC// Expression sheet for Clyde made by @roguepaladin666, I adore her, and I'm glad she could make this! I love my boy, and I love seeing him brought to life! From RP to Fanfiction he's my little sprout and I ought to post about him more. More open RP starters to come I swear!
I'm so glad I could bring him into The Ex-Saint and Woeless Sinner! Though he doesn't make his debut til much later in the fic, he's going to be so much fun to write!

─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
Charlie had intended on visiting the Morningstar Manor to escape the overwhelming intensity of Hazbin Hotel just for an hour; maybe two. It had been Vaggi’s suggestion after the halls had been bursting at the seams and the last four therapy sessions Charlie had coordinated had been more than, well, insane. Vaggi could hold down the fort, and the Princess of Hell knew there was one boost of serotonin that could recharge her battery so fast that it would have her head spinning: Adeline.
Her five month old baby sister and the sweetest little star in Hell. One little toothless smile from the youngest Morningstar and a high squeal babble from her, and Charlie was certain that she could get through the rest of the day… especially if her mother appeared.
Kit and Lucifer had agreed that it’d be best for both Lucifer’s mental well-being as well as Adeline if they stayed more at the Morningstar Manor with Lilith popping in and out at the hotel. Charlie understood that; they had been staying more there pending Adeline’s arrival as it was to reduce the stress before her birth. Upon the former Queen of Hell’s return and the strife she had caused with deals revealed and… the multitude of other betrayals and so much else unearthed…
Charlie herself was still processing it. In fact, the topic with one of the Sinners she had been counseling had been in a similar situation with his own mother today and it had brought up many feelings for the poor Nephilim.
Walking up the cobblestone path of massive manor, Charlie took off her blazer, folding it over her arm and grabbing the knocker to rap upon it. The burning iron gates that surrounded the estate itself had opened with hellfire upon sensing her blood, knowing who she was while refusing entry to those who had dared attempt entry behind her.
After a few moments, the grand doors opened and Miri, the head maid, popped her head out. The little red imp smiled kindly up at the Princess, the crows feet around her deep yellow eyes deepening as she opened the door wider. Broom in hand and her uniform crisp, the old woman bowed to the Princess of Hell politely before stepping aside.
“Miss Charlotte, I didn’t expect you,” Miri’s sharp teeth flashed as she grinned, strands of graying black hair falling from her updo. The briefest glance of shaven horns caught Charlie’s attention as an imp tail gently closed the doors behind them. “I am sure His Majesty will be overjoyed to see you. He is tending to the young Princess in the Parlor.”
Charlie tilted her head, brows furrowed as Miri walked around her and towards the kitchen. “Where’s Kit?”
The head maid redirected another imp maid towards the gardens out back with a tray of water for the gardeners and what appeared to be meticulously arranged fruit options to snack on. Miri glanced over her shoulder as she ushered the younger imp down the corridor and past many portraits of Charlie in different phases of her life.
“Her Majesty is handling your father’s affairs with Satan,” Miri explained with a sigh, dusting her hands on her apron, “It appeared that Mammon attempted to try and mass produce some type of human entertainment device in the likeness of your father as well as Asmodeus.”
Charlie winced at the thought. She loved all her aunts and uncles. The Sins were amazing! Mammon could just be a lot sometimes and she still hadn’t quite forgiven him for ripping off her father’s amusement park. She put a hand to her mouth and grimaced. “Oh no…”
“Needless to say, while they called a Sins meeting, your father is technically still on leave,” Miri continued and rolled her eyes as she took Charlie’s jacket from her, “So, Her Majesty went in his place as Queen of Hell and acting Sin of Pride.”
Charlie watched as the maid hung her jacket up in the coat closet by the door and she pursed her lips in deep thought. If any of the Sins held up their core definition of Sin perfectly, it was Mammon. The King of Greed himself.
Miri closed the closet with a click and patted the young Morningstar on the shoulder, “I am going to make some tea. Go see your father and that baby. She is teething, so be mindful of summoning your tail! She’s already bit your father many times this morning.”
With that, Miri retreated down the hall and towards the grand kitchen. Charlie took a deep breath and started towards the kitchen, leaving the foyer. She stopped halfway there, looking down at her feet and taking her shoes off quietly, red hooves now settling upon soft carpet as she tip-toed towards the parlor.
Charlie could hear the delighted little giggles of a baby, a high pitched squeal following right after when the muffled sound of Lucifer’s voice went, “Are you helping, Daddy? Do you think that’s funny?”
Coming around the corner into the grand, large parlor of the manor, Charlie was greeted with a sight like no other.
The room she as a child had always seen so pristine and organized by her mother, Lilith, was covered in rubber duckies and baby items. Plush pink and lavender baby blankets were strewn about the velvet sofas and lounges that Charlie had once been scolded for climbing upon as it had been unbecoming of a Princess. The occasional rattle or sensory toy was discarded around.
When she was a toddler, according to Lucifer and Miri, Lilith had refused to let the ‘infant items’ leave the nursery. All of Charlie’s care items were to remain in the diaper bag or be retained in controlled environments to maintain a clean appearance for the Morningstar Manor if they had guests over.
With Adeline? Kit and Lucifer didn’t care. And Charlie loved to see it because it seemed to take an immense amount of stress off of her father this time around.
Not that he got to see her when she was that small much.
Lucifer had the five month old in the chest carrier, facing outwards, trying his best to pick up the parlor somewhat while Kit was handling what should’ve been his duties for him. Of course, given that he was the one who had Adeline, he was still very much one family leave and recovering. And Charlie knew Kit well enough to know that the Paladin would force the Devil into bed before allowing him to step back into work and overload himself into a spiral.
Lucifer had chosen to wear his loungewear for the day; which was wise with a hyperactive half-Seraphim and half-Paladin baby. The familiar pink fuzzy, oversized sweater with rubber ducky static clinging to it and those striped off-white, pink sweatpants. Adeline matched him with her light pink pants and darker pink shirt and light purple mittens.
The Princess of Hell smiled fondly as Adeline kicked her legs, little red hooves free from the socks she had long since gotten off and Lucifer had clearly given up on trying to put back on. Blond curls bounced as she giggled, reaching out towards the ground as if she spotted yet another rubber ducky she wanted to get her little mittens on while Lucifer grabbed another empty and used baby bottle from the coffee table.
“You cannot get on the floor yet, little comet.” Lucifer kissed the top of her curls as she grunted in frustration and pouted, her big red eyes narrowing. He cracked a grin as he turned towards the doorway, intending to head towards a side table where Miri had kindly set a tray for him to set on. The maid would come in, sweep them away and leave another tray with made up new ones. While Lucifer insisted he would make them up himself, Miri would scold the King and swat at him if he dared insist putting more stress upon himself while the Queen was away.
Lucifer adored Miri.
Of course, as he turned and looked up from the mess of curls that was his baby of five months, he met the eyes of his much older baby girl that had come to see them and was just watching them from the doorway.
Charlie’s smile broadened as she waved, “Hi, Dad!”
Adeline’s eyes lit up, her toothless mouth upturning into a little grin as she flailed her arms upon seeing her big sister. She huffed and then squealed in pure baby delight as drool dribbled down her little chin and Lucifer smiled and opened one arm to Charlie, the other holding Adeline despite her already being strapped to his chest.
“What are you doing here, Sweetheart?” Lucifer asked as his eldest rushed over and squeezed into his side for the hug, Adeline laughing as she thumped one hand on her Daddy’s arm. “I thought you were booked with counseling, well, all week! Kit said she and Vaggi had to rework your whole schedule.”
Charlie’s smile turned a little sheepish as she hugged her father tightly, the baby babbling between them as she winced. She had thrown herself big time into her work as the head counselor since Lilith had returned and everything had… happened with her. And, much as her father had once done, she had started to overload herself and it dragged her down. Kit, being an expert in identifying those signs in Lucifer, had grabbed Vaggi and forced the young Morningstar to rearrange her agenda and now Charlie found it more manageable. Naturally, it wasn’t perfect since she had taken on so much, it would have to be rocky until it leveled back out, but it was a start.
“I needed a break,” Charlie admitted, as she let go of her father, her hand grabbing Lucifer’s while looking down at Adeline with a big smile, “And I wanted to see you and her.”
Lucifer glanced down at the drooling baby in the carrier, grinning as Adeline looked at them both in confusion with her big, sparkling red eyes as if to say ‘what? Me?’
He chuckled, “How about you hold your baby sister and I get you some hot chocolate and we watch a movie? Can be whatever, uh, you’re into…”
Adeline threw down her arms and popped her mouth, “Bah!”
Lucifer looked down at her and nodded as if understanding whatever she said, “Right, unless it’s not Adeline friendly.”
Charlie giggled and leaned down to look at the baby on her level, watching the way the youngest little Morningstar’s lips curved into that little grin again and she thumped her arms once more. “What do you think, Baby Girl? Movie time?”
Adeline blinked up at her and giggled, throwing her head back to look up at Lucifer instead. The King of Hell’s forked tongue peeked out as he smiled, his eyes shining as the baby’s arms flailed backwards to smack against him as though she were confirming with him in her own way to translate to Charlie what she wanted.
Lucifer snorted, “I believe that is a ‘yes.’ We will do movie time, hot cocoa and mandatory face mask, hoof and hair care!”
Charlie’s eyes widened as her father started to unlatch the carrier and she shook her head, not needing him to do all that for her. “Dad, I don’t need all that! A movie is perfectly fine, really! Just being here with you and her is great.”
Lucifer pulled Adeline out of the carrier and handed her off to Charlie, who took the baby with ease. Adeline wiggled happily and nuzzled into Charlie’s shoulder as the older sister bounced her. The King of Hell clapped his hands together after tossing the carrier onto one of the chairs in the room and tilted his head downwards, red eyes piercing and serious. He clicked his tongue and placed his hands on his hips.
“Nope! I’m getting the selfcare kit and we are going to decompress!” He snapped his fingers, creation magic pulsing through his veins as holy light sparkled around him with red smoke. His fuzzy sweater and pants were gone, replaced by his fluffy robe and ducky slippers; the matching headband was already on his head.
Charlie didn’t even realize she had been magic swapped into her own spa day outfit until she looked down and realized she was in her own dark red fuzzy robe from her room back at the hotel and her slippers with her hair down while Adeline as the only one untouched by their father’s magic.
“We’ll start with just the face masks and the movie with the cocoa and just see if Adeline will go down for her afternoon nap,” Lucifer said as he snapped his fingers again, another plume of red smoke appearing. He held out his hands and caught the box of what Charlie could only assume was a makeup storage container of some kind. It was sleek and ornate in red with gold designs; very much Lucifer. “She’s been very fussy today about naptime, but that’s because this week was Mama week with naps and Kit isn’t here.”
Charlie smiled as her dad continued to ramble on about how Adeline had been doing that day and then how they would handle their ‘spa day’. She bounced Adeline as the baby looked around and babbled at her and the Princess of Hell couldn’t have felt more… happy.
Just as Lucifer was setting up the various different tubes of hoof cream and polish on the coffee table as well as different hair oils and masks, Miri came into the room with a new tray of baby bottles, tea and, mysteriously, the hot chocolate that Lucifer had yet to mention to her.
And Charlie just smiled at her father as she sat down next to him on the parlor couch, handing Adeline back to him while he explained to her how they would destress and have the afternoon to themselves. She watched him continue to turn on the movie and hand the remote to Charlie, telling her to choose whatever she wanted, despite it possibly being something he’d loathe all the while then feeding Adeline. He asked Miri to kindly unseal the face mask jar for them while he fed the baby and then, as Charlie was choosing their movie for the afternoon, he was telling her how he could recall the few times he had gotten to do her hair when she was little.
She watched the way the Devil’s eyes watered slightly while rocking her baby sister while recalling how Charlie’s hair would tangle while brushing it; he had gotten Belphegor to make a specific detangling spray for her hair. Charlie had laughed, feeling in her heart, just a crack further at how gentle Lucifer really was. Not just with Adeline, but with her when he had been allowed to be. And in that moment, Charlie simply couldn’t help but think…

The Hazbin Hotel had never been so clean and organized despite how it was falling apart. Sir Pentious and Niffty were in charge of baking the cookies while everyone got their shit together. Mismatched balloons were blown up everywhere, wire lights hanging around with streamers and banners - one of which read: ‘IT’S A BOY!?!’
Kit had set up the snack table for Niffty and Pentious to put out the drinks and food they made. She had nearly gotten jumped by the little insect demon as Niffty leapt onto the table to try and hug her. Kit narrowly dodged her and Niffty tumbled off of the table and onto the floor.
She laughed joyously and climbed back onto the table and opted to just lay on it like it was her bed. She turned on her side and posed as if she were being painted, smirking at Kit as the fallen angel threw up her hands and turned around to walk in the other direction.
Much to Niffty’s disappointment.
Alastor had been less than thrilled to hear Charlie’s plan, and he walked around skeptically, eying the decorations as Kumi followed behind him obediently, not once deviating away from his boss as he worked through the emails on his phone.
Everything was in place and done in under an hour.
Charlie took a deep breath as she approached the front doors, mentally preparing herself for what she was about to invite into her hotel. Kumi stuck close to Alastor’s side as The Radio Demon came to stand next to the door, his arms folded behind his back as he watched Charlie with his everlasting smile.
Vaggie gave her girlfriend a supportive kiss on the cheek as everyone settled in at the party table in preparation. Their hour was up.
Charlie spun around to face them with confidence. “Okay, everyone. It’s showtime!”
She turned and grabbed for the door handle, swinging it open and being greeted with her father on the other side, who looked more than happy to be there in his entire royal regalia and a bright smile on his face.
“Chaaaarlie!!” Lucifer beamed with joy.
“Hey, Da–” Charlie let out a squeak of surprise as her dad lunged forward to pull her into a bone crushing hug.
“Oh, it’s so good to see you!” Lucifer exclaimed in a voice that sounded like a dad talking to his baby rather than an adult woman. He laughed as he squeezed her tightly, not having seen her in so long.
Charlie could feel the air being squeezed from her lungs as she forced on a smile. “It’s good to see you too, Dad.”
She managed to wiggle out of her father’s grip and laughed as he smiled up at her. Kumi leaned over to Kit, whom he left Alastor’s side to sneak up to and whispered to her, “That man is short as fuck… how tall is everyone, again?”
Kit snorted and leaned in to whisper, “Alastor is over seven feet. I’d say Lucifer is like… 5’5 maybe a bit taller.”
“Okay, he’s average human height, but still short for a guy.” Kumi retracted his statement, but not entirely as he and Kit hummed in unison.
Kit could easily tower over the devil. She wasn’t much taller than Charlie, but not much shorter than Alastor.
Charlie cleared her throat and proudly presented the hotel to her father. “Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel!”
She extended her arm, gesturing towards the lobby behind her with a nervous smile as she waited for Lucifer’s reaction.
Lucifer opened his mouth to speak, but he was interrupted as a familiar feline suddenly appeared and rubbed herself on his legs. He looked down as Keekee purred and rubbed herself on his boots. She meowed happily and looked up at him, expecting head pats.
Lucifer crouched down, smiling with pure adoration in his eyes as he reached out to pet the demon cat between the ears. “Oh, hewwo, Keekee!”
Keekee purred and leaned into his touch, saddened when the King stopped and stood back up just as Razzle and Dazzle flew over to him, eager to have his attention as well.
Lucifer reached out as each little flying goat demon he had made for Charlie came to him. “Razzle, Dazzle!”
The two grinned and wordlessly flew around him as Lucifer followed them in a spin before they settled in front of him and Lucifer held out his hands for the two little Hellborn creatures to take.
“Oh, look how much you haven’t grown! Still fun-sized!”
Angel snorted and leaned towards Kit and Kumi, whispering, “Short King’s fun-sized himself.”
Which earned him a warning nudge from Kit and a snicker from Kumi.
Razzle and Dazzle beamed up at their creator as Lucifer spoke to them in a childish baby voice. “You taking care of my wittle gorl?”
Both little demons blinked up at him, unfazed as his demeanor shifted to a more ominous one.
“You better be…” Lucifer growled threateningly, a demonic echo filtered behind his voice. Then, his demeanor shifted again and Lucifer giggled before letting his creations go; both of which seemed not at all bothered by the threat of their creator.
As Razzle and Dazzle flew off, Lucifer then set his attention to the hotel itself and… well, did his best to make Charlie feel good about it.
If he were completely honest, it was a wreck, but it had been eons since anyone had touched the hotel. It was bound to be in disrepair.
“Wow,” Lucifer walked towards the main lobby. “This place sure looks, uh…”
Niffty, who was still laying on the table, held out a tray of cookies she had made to shove into Lucifer’s face excitedly and the devil looked down at the tray as one cookie slid off of the tray and onto the floor. Yet, Niffty seemed completely unbothered.
“Uh-huh…” Lucifer turned to his left and was met with the nearly 8ft tall spider demon. “Yeah…”
He awkwardly stepped around Angel and came to the main area of the hotel, where the bar and parlor were.
“Uh-huh.” Lucifer completely wracked his brain for any comment he could make that was truthful but not terrible. “It’s got a lot of character.”
Then his eyes landed on the bar and the eerie, sickly green glow that emitted from the wall and floor surrounding it.
“Oh, what in the unholy Hell is that?!” Lucifer pointed the tip of his apple cane towards the bar, a disgusted look on his face.
Alastor’s smirk widened as he turned into shadow mist and rematerialized next to the table where everyone was, making his presence known. “Just some of the renovations we had done. Adds a bit of color, don’t you think?”
Alastor turned his head towards the King of Hell and raised his brows as he leaned against his microphone staff.
Lucifer frowned and pointed his cane at him. “And you are?”
The King of Hell jumped as Alastor turned into mist and reappeared behind him. He spun around to face Alastor, not liking the idea of his back to him and Alastor grabbed the apple of his cane and started to roughly shake it as though he were shaking his hand. Lucifer’s hat tilted and nearly fell off of his head as he was caught off guard.
“Alastor! Pleasure to be meeting you, Sir!” Alastor then let go of the King’s cane and wiped his hand on his suit jacket as if he had touched someone who disgusted him. “Quite a pleasure!”
Lucifer angrily reached up and put his hat back in its place before adjusting his tailcoat and glaring up at Alastor as The Radio Demon smiled broadly down at him.
“It’s nice to finally put a face to the name.” Alastor remarked and then said in an almost mocking tone, “You are much shorter in real life.”
Alastor made a small gesture with his index finger and thumb, squinting. Charlie, sensing the tension building, made her way towards the two men to try and diffuse the situation.
Lucifer looked at his daughter and gestured towards Alastor, not daring to acknowledge his existence. “Who is this? Who is this man?” He then looked back at Alastor. “Are you the bellhop?”
Alastor laughed boisterously. “Haha! No! I am the host of the hotel.”
He proudly adjusted his bowtie and then gestured to the hotel lobby with his staff. He then looked back at Lucifer.
“You might have heard of me from my radio broadcast.”
“Hmm. Nope!” Lucifer replied bluntly, feeling the venom rise in his words as his blood boiled. “I guess that’s why Charlie called it the ‘Hazbin’ Hotel!”
He nudged Charlie and laughed a little too hard as his daughter looked between him and Alastor nervously.
“Ha ha ha!” Alastor laughed mockingly and then looked at his claws as if checking his manicure. “It was actually my idea.”
As the scene continued to unfold, Kit leaned over to Kumi and asked, “Are we witnessing the Hell equivalent to men needing to just measure their dicks?”
“They might as well just lay them out and grab the ruler.” Kumi murmured. “I don’t know why Alastor’s got a stick up his ass, but I’m not gonna say shit.”
Kit raised a brow at the Sinner, narrowing her eyes, “I… doesn’t he always have a stick up his ass?”
Kumi snorted and playfully shoved on the Paladin’s shoulder, though she didn’t budge. “Listen, yes! But not like this! My boss is bein’ territorial right now.”
Meanwhile, Lucifer sneered up at Alastor and returned his mocking laugh. “Ha ha ha! Well, it’s not very clever!”
“Ha ha!” Alastor’s eye twitched and he leaned down to get in Lucifer’s face, snarling. “Fuck you.”
“Okay!” Charlie finally stepped in and separated them. “Okay. Anyway…”
She grabbed Lucifer by the shoulders and pushed him towards the parlor. The whirring of radio dials buzzed behind them as Alastor snarled, his permanent grin cracking just a hair.
“Dad, look at this lovely parlor,” Charlie put her arm around his shoulders and gestured to the recently swept parlor. “Where people can get to know each other!”
Well, despite being swept clean, two little Hell roaches had decided to choose that moment to get freaky on the carpet where everyone could see it. Niffty would get to eliminating them as soon as the party was over.
Lucifer looked uncertain at his daughter, but couldn’t help but smile as Charlie excitedly shared her project with him. It was something she was passionate about and seeing the joy on her face made him happy.
“And share secrets and stories!” Charlie hugged her father into her side and pressed her cheek against his as she rambled on. “And intimate feelings!”
The King of Hell held his cane to his chest as Charlie let go of him, his smile genuine as he turned to fully face her.
She then gestured to the shadowy figure as Alastor appeared again a few feet behind them and Lucifer’s smile instantly fell. “Without Alastor, we wouldn’t have been able to pretty it up this much!”
Lucifer turned to glare at The Radio Demon as he approached them.
“Charlie has a very unique vision,” Alastor stated as he walked up to the two Morningstars. “I am happy to fulfill her bizarre requests.”
Alastor’s hand made its home on Charlie’s shoulder and Lucifer’s eye twitched seeing the way she reached up to touch his hand in response, her eyes full of appreciation.
“Oh, thank you, Alastor.” Charlie smiled up at the taller demon.
Lucifer felt alarms going off in his head as he scowled at Alastor, growling to himself angrily as he felt his blood boil.
Alastor glanced at him out of the corner of his eye and, satisfied with the sour reaction, pressed a little further as Charlie was blissfully unaware and just happy with someone’s support. “Quite an impressive young lady! We’re all very proud of her!”
Alastor wrapped his arm around Charlie and started to pull her into a side hug as the young Morningstar looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
Lucifer cleared his throat and pushed himself between them before Alastor could actually hug her. “Charlie, dear!”
He pushed Alastor aside and redirected Charlie to the table of people he hadn’t been introduced to yet as he laughed off his angry little spat. Alastor rubbed his arm where Lucifer had touched him and glared at the King with his reddened eyes.
“Why don’t you introduce me to your other friends?” Lucifer gestured towards the other demons with his cane and smiled triumphantly when Charlie completely changed her course and left Alastor’s side.
“Oh, yes, of course!” Charlie ran to the table and grabbed Vaggie’s hand, dragging her towards her father. “This is Vaggie! She’s my girlfriend!”
Vaggie waved awkwardly as Lucifer as the King’s eyes widened.
He didn’t know Charlie was into women. Fuck, he didn’t his daughter at all. The last person he knew had dated her was Frederick’s son and that ended. That meant Charlie was bisexual.
“Oh ho, my golly!” Lucifer exclaimed, feeling the awkwardness in his chest as he tried to make some semblance of a connection with that fact. “You like girls? So do I! We have so much in common!”
He was trying so hard, his sharp smile nearly painful as his red eyes begged for Charlie to accept his attempt.
Lucifer extended his hand out towards Vaggie eagerly, unsure of what exactly Charlie said her name was. “Put ‘er there, Maggie!”
Vaggie took his hand, but let out a surprised yelp as Lucifer pulled her into a hug instead. Vaggie was sure she felt her bones crack before Lucifer let her go, afraid he was scaring her.
“She’s so pretty!” Lucifer told Charlie, feeling like he needed to ensure that Charlie knew he supported her relationship.
Vaggie laughed off his awkwardness and smiled at him. “Uh, lovely to meet you, uh, Sir!”
Charlie smiled seeing her father taking her relationship with Vaggie so well and she turned his attention to the remaining people at the snack table. She gestured towards Sir Pentious and Angel Dust. “And this is Sir Pentious and Angel Dust, our guests!”
As Lucifer turned to look at them with a smile as a greeting, Pentious panicked as he had been protecting the tray of cookies from Angel and went to give him a salute, unsure of how to act.
“Your Majesty!” Pentious slipped as Angel took the opportunity to grab a cookie. The snake demon fell and his face slammed against the tray.
Angel snickered and looked towards Lucifer with lidded eyes and his chest puffed out, his tone flirtatious and seductive. “Heya, Short King~”
Charlie quickly brushed off Angel's greeting upon seeing the discomfort on Lucifer’s face and gestured to Kumi as he tried to sneak away before he was brought up. “Kumi is Alastor’s assistant and our marketing guy!”
Kumi stiffened and turned to wave before hiding himself behind Angel Dust.
“Husk is our bartender.” Charlie pointed to Husk, who simply waved with a casual expression. “Niffty is our housekeeper!”
“Nice to meet you.” Husk greeted him as Niffty giggled before she jumped off of the table and scampered over to the King, who stared at her in bewilderment as she proceeded to jump and latch onto his jacket.
Lucifer leaned back as Niffty got in his face with her eager yet maniacal grin. “Hello! I clean!”
She then went on to giggle excitedly as Lucifer knitted his brows together in concern. She was uncomfortably close to him and very much in his personal space. Lucifer wasn’t fond of Sinners as it was and was making an effort to tolerate it for Charlie as they were her ‘friends,’ but this one was quite literally centimeters from his face. He leaned back a bit as Niffty giggled once more before the insect demon was plucked off of him.
“Niffty, we’ve talked about this.” Kit had grabbed the little insect demon by the collar of her top and gently dropped her to the ground, in which Niffty hurried off back to the table.
Lucifer looked up at Kit, who was a great deal taller than him and he felt a sense of familiarity come over him as he met her pale yellow eyes. It was unsettling and not hellish.
“Oh, and this Kit!” Charlie jumped forward and wrapped her arm around Kit’s shoulders. “Head of our security and our resident fallen angel!”
Lucifer recognized her face; she was the one that hung around Asmodeus and Beelzebub and a well known face among the Goetias. She was the ‘Kit’ that Satan had once mentioned to him in passing a few years ago, but he had not maintained that name until Ozzie and Bee had said it enough times for it to actually pop up in his brain when they would reference this ‘security woman.’
He knew about the ‘K Security’ company that had grown in Hell over the last decade or so, but he never took her for a fallen angel. Nor had he ever seen her face aside from pictures on Ozzie’s and Bee’s Sinstagram. He had always thought that it was a Hellborn succubus or hybrid of some kind. He had never seen her up close; only one Ozzie’s or Bee’s Sinstagrams or at their events from afar – when he had the energy and motivation to attend events or look on Hell’s social medias.
“Oh, an angel, huh?” Lucifer felt nervous as the goth angel looked down at him. “That’s… yeah, so you know what’s it about up there, huh?”
His smile was very anxiety riddled as he stammered over his words, but Kit stopped him before he let himself look too much like an ass.
“I’m well acquainted, yes.” Kit replied casually.
“Kit believes in redemption too!” Charlie exclaimed with a hopeful gleam in her eyes. “And she’s also a Paladin Angel!”
Kit gave Charlie an exasperated look. “Gotta give a full disclosure, huh?”
Lucifer was looking between Charlie and Kit as his daughter sheepishly laughed and said, “You believed it’s possible! A Paladin of Michael and now here you are!”
Kit was a Paladin of Michael. Lucifer had already fallen into the pit of Hell before the Paladins had been made. Guardians of human souls and warriors of justice; the Exorcists were nothing in comparison to one Paladin.
And here one stood in Hell… in front of him and she was hanging around his daughter. She had been hanging around his fellow Sins and he hadn’t the faintest idea that she was an angel? None of them had said a word!
Or perhaps they had and Lucifer hadn’t paid attention… well, he hadn’t been exactly the most active in his own courts or duties. Still, a Paladin angel down in Hell was dangerous. It was good that she was on Charlie’s side and not one of the ones that would place their blade upon his child’s throat, but… it still made his chest tighten with anxiety thinking about it.
He was broken from his stupor when Kit extended her hand out towards him, offering a sincere smile as she did so.
“It’s nice to actually meet you.” Kit said as Lucifer slowly took her hand in his and shook it.
“Likewise.” Lucifer said in a daze of confusion and some concern. “You’re, uh, Ozzie and Bee’s Kit, aren’t you?”
She was head of security and her name was ‘Kit’. That was a no brainer.
“That’s me.” Kit confirmed as he let go of her hand.
Charlie looked at her father as he continued to stare up at Kit, his eyes flickering to where her halo once would’ve been. “Dad, with Kit’s help, I’ve been able to make some serious progress on the hotel in terms of how to rehabilitate Sinners…”
She continued to talk, but Lucifer was pretty much studying Kit at this point. She appeared human-like in nature, her eyes piercing like that of an angel.
He was pulled back out of his daze when a cracking sound resonated from above them and he was pushed back with Charlie as the stone light fixture above them started to fall. Lucifer’s eyes widened as he fell backwards and onto his ass, unprepared for the force of Kit’s push as he looked up and watched as Kit caught the old chandelier with little effort.
Kit grunted as her muscles flexed under the weight before she tilted the circular chandelier and lowered it gently to the ground with a hefty thud. She stood up and dusted off her hands as Charlie scrambled to her feet and rushed to her with wide eyes.
“Kit, are you okay?!” Charlie asked and looked up at the fallen angel with worry.
Kit smiled and put her hands on her hips. “I’m fine. I was more worried about you.”
Angel then piped up from the back, gesturing dramatically to the woman. “The woman is literally the hulk! I don’t think a chandelier would even dent her!”
Kit glared back at him and flipped the spider demon off, expression sour.
Kit then took a deep breath and leaned down towards Lucifer, who had yet to move from his spot still on the ground, his hat off kilter as Kit offered him her hand.
“Sorry about that.” Kit apologized as Lucifer let her pull him back to his feet. “I didn’t mean to shove you so hard.”
“Oh, it’s fine!” He assured her and dusted off his jacket. “That was very kind of you.”
Yes, it was kind of you to literally catch a falling stone and metal fucking chandelier and keep my kid from being crushed… Lucifer thought and wondered just how strong Kit was.
Angels in general had supernatural strength, but from what he had recalled, Paladin angels had strength to rival Michael himself.
“Well,” Charlie clasped her hands together and turned to her father as dust particles from the broken lights fluttered down from the ceiling. “There’s still a few odds and ends we gotta fix up, but we could really use your help, Dad.”
Lucifer looked up at his daughter and smiled before he then looked over his shoulder to glare at Alastor, who returned his glare with equal fervor. The Devil laughed. “Alright then.”
He tapped his cane against the floor and the hotel was abruptly covered in a blur of magic that quickly transitioned into the inside of a circus tent illuminated by strung up lights. It was as if they had stepped into another plane of existence.
Which didn’t faze Kit one bit. Angels - especially Seraphims - usually had their own pocket dimension in some way. She even had one; in her wings, granted, but she did. The others, aside from maybe Alastor and Charlie, were thrown off being brought to a whole ass separate place.
Alastor sneered angrily as Lucifer grabbed his daughter’s hand and pulled her towards him and away from Alastor, starting to sing in an upbeat manner, “Looks like you could use some help–”
He spun Charlie towards a replica of his throne inside of the circus tent dimension. She stopped and looked up at the throne as her father suddenly appeared sitting upon the throne, grinning broadly as he continued his singing proudly.
“From the big boss of Hell himself!” As he opened his arms to gesture to himself, flames briefly rose behind him for dramatic flare. He then leaned down towards Charlie and showed her his phone, which was on a Yelp page in the human world dedicated to him. “Check out Daddy’s glowing reviews on Yelp!”
As Charlie leaned towards the phone to read the reviews, her father’s magic warped his cellphone and the screen flickered before little puppets resembling him came through the screen, making Charlie startle slightly as they instead sang the reviews to her.
“Five stars!”
“Flawless!”
“Greater than great!”
Lucifer snapped his fingers and the puppets and his throne disappeared. With pure confidence, he grabbed his daughter’s hand once more and made a fist, grinning from ear to ear.
“Oh, with the punch of a pentagram - wap! Bam! Boom!” He hugged her to his side and raised his apple topped cane up and towards a free space in the dimensional state they were in, red magic with golden particles erupting from the apple tip. “Alakazam!”
Charlie’s jaw dropped in amazement as they were suddenly teleported in red smoke to the space he had directed his magic to. Before her, Dazzle was tied up symbolically on a table draped in ritual cloth. The goat demon looked up at them nervously as a red moon beamed down on them, seemingly in a portal that has brought them to an instance of a blood moon in the human realm.
Cultists dressed in robes surrounded them as Lucifer held a ritual dagger in his blackened hand. The cultists themselves were duplicates of the King, his razor sharp smile and painted cheeks the only thing visible under the shadow of the hooded robes, copies of his crown and hat atop their heads.
Lucifer nudged Charlie with his elbow and sang, “Usually, I charge a sacrificial lamb!”
Charlie’s forced smile returned as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, dropping the dagger to pinch her cheek.
“But you get the family rate!”
Charlie furrowed her brows in concern, her smile still there. Lucifer’s smile seemed a bit more forced than hers, hopeful she wouldn’t reject him as his duplicates threw off their robes and leaned in to sing with both him and her, “Thanks, Dad!”
In another flash, the surrounding area changed again, and now it wasn’t just Charlie that Lucifer was bringing into play. They were now sitting at a table in a restaurant and Charlie looked at her dad as he sat across from her, smirking with his chin propped on the back of his hand as Alastor’s form was brought towards them with unforeseen force. The Radio Demon’s attire suddenly changed into that of a waiter, a bottle of wine in his claws as he forcibly poured wine into a wine glass on the table.
Alastor’s eyes widened angrily, his smile never faltering as he glared at the King of Hell. The others were simply brought to sit at tables in the magically conjured restaurant, the remaining empty tables filled with Lucifer’s duplicates all wearing different color variations of his suit.
Kit sat with Kumi as they watched the entire scene unfold, and Kit looked to Kumi and asked, “Why does everyone have to sing?”
Kumi shrugged and grabbed the glass of wine that had been graciously materialized on their table, sipping on it. “I dunno, but I’ll gladly take the free drinks.”
Lucifer grinned smugly as Alastor glared at him. “Who needs a busboy–”
Alastor’s eyes widened as Lucifer snapped his fingers and suddenly, the Radio demon felt the Devil’s hand on his waist. He stumbled as the area he was in himself changed around him. Suddenly, he had fallen onto his ass inside the confines of a large pan.
Had he shrunk? What the Hell was going on? Alastor looked up and glared at the large variation of Lucifer smirking down at him. They were in a massive kitchen in a separate illusion instance away from everyone else.
“--now that you’ve got the chef?” Lucifer finished his thought and narrowed his eyes as he flipped Alastor in the pan, making the Radio Demon grunt as he hit the solid metal quite painfully.
The illusion faltered and suddenly, Alastor’s decapitated head was on a plate in front of Charlie, who stared down at it in concern as one of her father’s duplicates presented it to her while wearing an extravagant waiter uniform. His duplicates were surrounding them in the same attired, idly standing by with towelettes and grins on their faces.
“Michelin tasting menu-” The duplicate then spun Charlie’s chair around to face the table behind her, where her real father then presented a cake to her… which had a depiction of him holding Alastor’s head painted on the iced top. “Free a la carte!”
Charlie didn’t even get a chance to react properly before the illusion changed once again and she and her father were standing at a casino game themed to Lucifer himself, the lever topped with an apple.
Lucifer slammed the lever down as the other hotel residents scrambled to get their bearings after being thrusted into another instance of some kind, Kumi’s distressed cries at no longer having a good glass of wine drowned out as lucifer continued, “I’ll rig the game for you because I’m the ref!”
The slot machine spun and landed all on little cartoon depictions of Lucifer’s smiling face, golden coins pouring from the winning slot with his face on one side and an apple on the other.
Lucifer snapped his fingers and the machine disappeared. He took a dramatic step back and snapped his fingers again. “Champagne fountains–”
In a puff of red smoke and golden particles and stars, large golden fountains with his face appeared, champagne flowing free from the statue Lucifers’ smiling mouths as the King snapped his fingers again, a large caviar mountain appearing behind him.
“Caviar mountains!” He extended his hand out towards Charlie and smiled, “That’s just the start!”
Lucifer then jumped, startled as Alastor’s clawed hand grabbed him by the shoulder, disrupting the King’s concentration and causing the illusion of the dimension to falter. Lucifer snarled up at the Radio Demon as he looked over at Charlie.
“Who’s been here since day one?” Alastor started to sing and grabbed Lucifer by the arm before spinning the King like his partner in a dramatic dance.
Lucifer caught himself and glared at Alastor as he moved to Charlie, his own green glowing magic forming a crude nun costume as he pressed his hands together and stood next to the Princess of Hell.
“Who’s been faithful as a nun?” Alastor took advantage of Lucifer’s disrupted concentration and snapped his fingers, his voodoo magic allowing him to create his own illusion.
Kit looked around at the now neon colors clashing against the dimensional plane Lucifer had brought them to and she turned to Kumi and said, “We’re back at the pissing contest.”
“Yes, yes, I see that.” Kumi nodded in agreement and crossed his arms as Angel nearly tripped over a fabricated theater chair.
Alastor’s pupils turned into radio dials as he seated Charlie in one of the chairs and got on the stage he had materialized, a ghastly green spotlight shining down on him. “Who makes you chuckle with an old-timey pun?”
Charlie gasped and smiled as Alastor turned into shadowy mist and reappeared next to her, holding a megaphone and wearing shades. He grabbed her by the shoulder and leaned in towards her.
“Your executive producer!”
Charlie nodded and smiled genuinely, cheeks pinched as she beamed at him. “That’s true!”
“I’m your guy, you day-to-day!” Alastor tossed the megaphone aside, which dissipated into mist along with the sunglasses. “Your chum, your steadfast hotelier!”
The neon colored illusion shifted and Charlie was standing in front of a toilet that had materialized before them and Alastor raised his brows at her.
“Remember when I fixed that clog today?” With no hesitation, Alastor reached into the toilet that he had summoned and pulled Niffty out of it like a magic trick.
Niffty was now soaked in whatever substance Alastor had summoned the porcelain with and she cried out as Alastor brought the little insect demon to his chest to hug her. “I was stuck, thank you, Sir!”
Alastor’s grin widened in pride when Charlie smiled and tilted her head at him. “Oh you!”
Alastor shifted the illusion again and now they were standing in a version of the Hazbin Hotel, his magic engulfing the entire place as they stood up at the top of what would’ve been the stairs.
Lucifer was standing now at the bottom of the stairs, glaring up at the Radio Demon menacingly as everyone struggled to keep up with the changes to their planes.
Alastor spun Charlie happily as he sang, “I’m truly honored that we’ve built such a bond!”
He stopped spinning the blonde and held her hand, smiling at her as she gazed at him with pure adoration and appreciation.
“Awww!”
Alastor then let her hand go to grab her shoulders, tilting his head down slightl;y and knitting his brows together to seem as genuine as he could manage. “You’re like the child that I wish that I had!”
As he sang that, he put a hand on Charlie’s cheek and the young Morningstar looked up at him with wide eyes and a smile.
Lucifer growled as Alastor casted him a smug look. “Uh, what?”
The King of Hell was jarred as the room shifted once more and now Alastor had summoned a bed in which he was tucking Charlie in like it was her bed time as a child. Lucifer felt his blood reach a boiling point as he clenched his jaw, snarling at the scene.
Kit crossed her arms as Angel grabbed her shoulder to regain his balance. Husk was seemingly unbothered now as Alastor’s constant shifts in the illusion jostled him around. She narrowed her eyes at Alastor as she watched him pretend to dote on Charlie.
Alastor patted Charlie’s head as he sat on the edge of the bed, his ego inflating upon seeing how angry Lucifer was. “I care for you just like a daughter I spawned!”
Lucifer needed to put a stop to this. He raised his hand and angrily furrowed his brows. “Hold on now!”
The entire neon engulfed room was moved again and Alastor suddenly appeared next to Lucifer and roughly rested his arm atop the King’s tap hat, bending it in and elbowing the top of Lucifer’s head, which made the King even angrier.
Not that he’d do anything - he would never do anything to upset his daughter and Alastor was taking full advantage of it.
“It’s a little funny,” Alastor started smugly and got off of Lucifer’s head, which the King took as an opportunity to angrily fix his hat.
Alastor then grabbed Charlie’s hand and pulled her towards him and away from her father. Ensuring that her back was facing Lucifer, Alastor glanced over his shoulder and sneered.
“You could almost call me ‘Dad’!”
Lucifer’s face twisted into one of pure rage, but did his best to keep himself under control as he instead opted to try to take back control of the illusion, which was cracking harshly. The hotel’s real lobby was starting to bleed through, the dimension Lucifer had brought them too falling away.
Alastor let go of Charlie and turned to face Lucifer fully as the Devil approached him, the illusion magic casted shifting back into his control for just a brief moment as he pulled out his golden violin and started to play it gracefully, though his rage was expressed quite well as he came chest to chest with the offending Sinner that dared to lay a hand on his child.
Alastor simply snapped his fingers as Lucifer’s attention was solely on him, and the colors of the illusion shifted back into his control as a voodoo sigil engraved piano manifested in the air above Lucifer and nearly crushed him before he got out of the way.
Alastor started to play the piano, but grimaced as the obnoxious sound of an accordion made the Radio Demon turn around to glare at the Devil as he glared at him, accordion held above his head as he played it simply to make it erupt in unharmonious notes.
Alastor growled and snapped his fingers, the entire room being engulfed in darkness for a moment before it lit back up. And Alastor started to sing again with Charlie behind him, looking dazed and confused from all the flip flopping.
“They say when you’re looking for assistance–” Alastor held a conductor’s wand in his hands as he pointed it towards Charlie and watching as comically large books started to appear above her and fall onto shoulders, each reading ‘SUCCESS,’ ‘LEADERSHIP,’ and ‘RESPONSIBILITY.’ “It’s smart to pick the path of least resistance!”
He made a thrusting up motion with his fists and black tendrils appeared around Charlie to lift the books above her effortlessly.
Charlie was then dragged into another illusion as her father took over it, standing onto an angelic clock and surrounded in gold, holy magic as Lucifer approached her.
“Others say that in your needy hour,” he started and pointed his cane at her and stepped back. “There’s no substitute for–”
Charlie watched in pure wonder as three large sets of white wings sprouted from her father’s back and he flew above her, the inner feathers stained red.
“Angelic power!” Lucifer belted as his daughter stared up at him in awe. He landed back in front of her, his wings disappearing as he started to walk towards her, his patience thinning as he smiled at her desperately, “Who just happens to also be your blood!”
Charlie’s awe was replaced with the same forced smile as she looked down at her dad, who was doing his best to convince her he was the better father figure… though, he wasn’t exactly going about it the right way.
Angel Dust cleared his throat as Lucifer got in his daughter’s face and leaned towards Kit and asked, “When did this turn into a custody battle?”
Kit shrugged as Alastor appeared between the two Morninstars and pushed Lucifer away. The golden magic that had been Lucifer’s illusion started to turn green as Alastor regained control of the entire dimension.
The hotel was bleeding back into reality with each passing second, the concentration of both men’s parts faltering greatly.
Alastor grabbed Charlie’s arm as he snapped his fingers and suddenly, they were standing in a boxed in window and looking down at a materialized game show set in Alastor’s magic. Lucifer glared up at the window as Alastor manifested the set around him. The King growled as Alastor smirked smugly at him.
“Sadly, there are times a birth parent is a dud!” Alastor sang and slammed his hand on a red button, watching as the floor beneath Lucifer opened and the King fell with an annoyed yelp.
The illusion then changed again, but became weaker and weaker as both men fought over, well, Charlie. At this point, it was pretty much over Charlie and who was the better father.
Even though Alastor wasn’t that much of a father figure to Charlie. If the Princess was honest, Kit was more of a mother figure to her than Alastor was a father.
Alastor spun Charlie around to face him and opened his arms and crude little outlines of her friends appeared around him like childish sketches. “They say the family you choose is better!”
Alastor let out a grunt as Lucifer shoved him out of the way with his hip, using his cane to make a sweeping gesture and a beam of golden magic practically blasted Alastor out of the way.
“What a bunch of losers!” Lucifer dismissively sang, fed up with Alastor’s shit.
Lucifer nearly stumbled when Alastor rushed back in and hip bumped him out of the way angrily. “Can you butt out of my song?”
Lucifer angrily jabbed a finger in Alastor’s face as he regained his balance and snarled. “Your song? I started this!”
“I’m singing it, I’ll finish it!”
Lucifer grabbed Alastor by the jacket and angrily butted his forehead against his, his rage fueled by the mischievous and smug little glint in Alastor’s eyes. “Oh, you tacky piece of…”
He didn’t get to finish as the doors to the hotel slammed open and he and Alastor both blanked and turned to look at the doorway in utter confusion as their magic completely dissipated and they were back in the hotel.
A short, chubby demon lady had slammed the doors open, her pink, flapper girl attire and short, curled blonde hair bounced with every move she made, a sharp, yellowed smile on her face as her hot pink irises were engulfed with surrounding black sclera.
“It’s me! Yes, it’s me!!” She dramatically sang as everyone stared at her.
No one seemed to know who she was or why she was there as she spun and smirked brattily at everyone.
“I know you were all waiting for me!” She sang, the hotel’s lights illuminating her pale, pink skin as she spun again., throwing sparkling pink confetti into the air. She then proceeded to run around and throw more confetti in everyone’s face.
Pentious was just puzzled and Angel raised a brow in confusion and annoyance as confetti was thrown in their faces.
“I’m here! What a gas!” The mystery woman started marching in circles as she dramatically exclaimed, “Took a while but I’m present at last!”
Everyone watched as she climbed up the stairs and rushed to the balcony just overlooking the lobby so she could lean against the rail like a lady in waiting. Which made Kit cringe as she mentally prepared herself to throw the random demon out… especially when her pale yellow eyes caught a tattoo on her right shoulder blade during her performance that seemed a little too familiar: Mammon’s commercial symbol.
“It’s me!” The Sinner leaped onto the rail of the balcony and extended her arms up as she sang obnoxiously, “It’s me!”
Everyone took a step back as she jumped down from the balcony with little effort and slid towards them on her knees, elbows to her sides and her fists clenched as she leaned back and practically screamed the last part of her little introduction verse.
“Mimzzzzyyyyyy!!!” She practically wheezed by the end of it, catching her breath as she stood up and struck a feminine, showgirl pose.
Silence was loud amongst the crowd as Lucifer was the first to speak, confused by what just happened. “Who?”
‘Mimzy’ sighed and let her pose fall, her hands on her hips. “Didn’t you just hear me?”
No one said anything as they just stared at her. Kit blinked in confusion and tilted her head as Kumi let out a groan in frustration, seeming to recognize the chubby lady in front of them, but he neglected to speak for now.
“Why is everybody gawkin’?” Mimzy asked and then pressed her breasts together and tapped her cheek with one finger, pursing her lips. She bent one leg up and smiled, “Is it cause I’m adorable?”
Alastor excitedly broke away from his spat with Lucifer and opened his arms as he approached the woman. “Mimzy!”
Kit raised her brows and clicked her tongue as Kumi facepalmed in what appeared to be frustration. It was someone that Alastor knew. That made so much sense.
Mimzy started to meet The Radio Demon halfway, swaying her curvy hips dramatically from side to side as she went. “Alastoooor, Sweetie, Doll-face! So good to see you!”
Everyone watched in confusion, except for Kumi and Husk, as Mimzy talked to Alastor as if she had only seen him the other day and was catching up.
“How you been? Good? Good.” She wasn’t even giving him a chance to respond, but gladly accepted the friendly hug from Alastor before pulling away and smiling up at him innocently. “Listen, I was in the neighborhood. I heard you were staying at this ritzy slob factory, and I figured I’d stop by and say hi! For old time’s sake!”
Kit crossed her arms and stepped back away from the entire scene, showing disinterest in getting involved. The way Mimzy was acting a little too innocent was unnerving. After all, she just randomly shows up after not seeing Alastor in so long when she’s had months since his reappearance to visit him?
Kit scrunched up her nose as Alastor was sincere with her - like a brother would be to his little sister. “Of course, Sweetheart! Everyone is welcome here.”
That was true, but Kit had a bad gut feeling about this demon. Kumi and Husk both glaring at her and casting annoyed looks at each other didn’t help it.
Kit had stepped back so far, she didn’t realize she had nearly bumped into Lucifer, who had also been trying to stay away from the conversation going on at that moment.
Lucifer looked up at Kit with wide eyes and held up his hands, his cane dangling loosely in his grip as he apologized. “Sorry!”
“Oh, no, you’re fine!” Kit assured him as they got a distance from the others, who were still gawking at the interaction between Alastor and a demon he was actually nice to.
Lucifer let out a sigh as they stood off to the side and watched the transaction happen. The way Alastor regarded Mimzy with sincerity and the way she was casually adjusting her breasts that were threatening to spill out of her sleeveless dress seemed so odd.
After a moment, Lucifer spoke again, realizing that while he got out of the main conversation, he was now alone with Kit in their own social bubble for the moment. “So, I never knew you were, well…”
Kit looked down at him with her brows raised as he tried to think of what to say, rolling his wrist and furrowing his brows in thought.
“An angel. I mean, I heard about you all the time from Asmodeus and Beelzebub,” Lucifer told her, “And I imagined a Hellborn. Not…”
He trailed off again and Kit tilted her head and smiled. “An angel?”
“Yeah, and you are… much taller than I thought.” Lucifer sounded nervous; he was doing his best to make conversation with someone he didn't know whatsoever, but his conversation skills weren’t that great unless he was being deceitful for a deal.
And he felt intimidated by her, if he were honest. Even though he was the more powerful angel, having a Paladin standing right next to him, knowing she could probably take out a squad of Exorcists with little effort was definitely something.
Not in a bad way, though. It made Lucifer feel a little better knowing Charlie had a Paladin in her corner despite the little voice earlier in the back of his mind whispering scenarios of ‘what if’. If anyone wanted to hurt her, they’d have to at least get through one of Heaven’s most volatile creations before even getting within twenty feet of his daughter.
“I’m only 6’8.” Kit said, but then chuckled as she recalled that the Paladin standard height was odd for even regular Heavenborn angels. “I mean, I guess in comparison to you, that’s odd.”
Kit then backtracked as she realized she had pretty much just called him short.
“I’m not calling you short… You are average height - especially for an angel,” Kit tried to explain, finding herself feeling flustered as she sighed and laughed. “Fuck, sorry. I don’t normally do… social stuff.”
Lucifer smiled and chuckled, tilting his head as he felt the tenseness in his back ease up. He let the end of his cane tap against the floor, leaning on it with one hand and giving Kit a small wave as he said, “Oh, I understand. No worries!”
Kit grinned and Lucifer caught the faintest glint of fangs among her teeth. He was enjoying their conversation… even if it was a bit socially awkward.
Meanwhile, Charlie approached Alastor and Mimzy and smiled happily. “Oh, how nice! So, you two know each other?”
Mimzy laughed and jumped up to grab Alastor’s shoulders and drag him down to her height so she could properly wrap her arm around his broader frame. “Oh, yeah! We go way back, ran in the same circles when we were alive.”
She let go of Alastor, who stood back up straight as Mimzy walked over to Charlie and leaned towards her, covering her mouth partially with her hand as if she were about to give the Princess some real gossip.
“You know, this one used to frequent the club where I used to perform,” Mimzy told her, “He’s the only I knew who could pound whiskey like a sailor then keep up with me on the dance floor.”
Alastor hummed in a nostalgic manner as he gestured to the shorter demon with fondness. “Oh, quite a talent, this gal. Ho, ho, you should have seen her in her heyday!”
Mimzy frowned and snapped at him with a finger jabbed at his chest. “Hey! Watch it tall, dark and creepy. I’m still in my prime!”
As she said that, she grabbed the plunging neckline of the flapper dress and roughly pulled it up, her breasts squeezing in the fabric before she let go and they bounced back into place. Alastor seemed unbothered as Charlie took a cautionary step back.
Mimzy then caught a glimpse of Lucifer out of the corner of her eye and her smile fell as she stared at the King of Hell, who was talking to the tall pale purple woman. Mimzy’s eyes widened and she placed a hand over her bountiful chest as she gawked at Lucifer.
“Oh, oh my stars!” She gasped, fanning herself with her free hand upon seeing the King of Hell himself standing in the same room as her. And he was talking to a woman dressed a little too masculine for Mimzy’s liking.
Mimzy pointed towards Lucifer as Charlie blinked at her awestruckness in confusion. Alastor just looked annoyed.
“Is that Lucifer?” Mimzy asked no one in particular because there was no way it wasn’t Lucifer.
She completely ignored Charlie and Alastor, shoving poor Sir Pentious out of the way and walking over to Kit and Lucifer, being sure to really put a sway into her hips as she went. It was no secret that Lucifer and the Queen, Lilith, had separated and divorced. So, why wouldn’t Mimzy introduce herself on the off chance she’d worm her way into royalty?
She pushed herself between him and Kit, making the taller fallen angel back up. Kit looked down at the Sinner with irritation, and Lucifer was startled as he had been focused on his conversation with Kit. He hadn’t expected to be uprooted from the pleasant interaction he was having so abruptly by the Sinner that had so rudely bursted into the hotel.
Lucifer quickly put on his sharp smile and stiffened, his back straight and his eyes wide with panic as he tried not to look so out of sorts when the Sinner approached. The only thought in his mind was to regain his composure and try to slide the ‘Devil persona’ back into place.
“Pleased to meetcha’, Your Highness.” Mimzy grabbed the bottom of her dress and curtseyed to him, bowing her head. She then stood up and glared over her shoulder at Alastor, who had made his way over and whispered to him, “Alastor, you gotta warn a girl when she’s in mixed company!”
Yet, Alastor seemed to be unbothered and shrugged his shoulders, a bored look on his face. He briefly flicked his eyes over to Kit, who met his gaze and tilted her head. The Radio Demon raised a brow questioningly as Kit narrowed her eyes in warning as if communicating with him telepathically. She shifted her eyes towards the short, plump woman now between her and Lucifer with a dark scowl on her face and pressed her lips together in a thin line.
Alastor’s nose twitched, scrunching in an understanding as Mimzy shimmied her shoulders, unaware that a wordless conversation had just occurred between the facility manager and head of security for the hotel.
Lucifer cleared his throat, his confidence returning as he put on the persona he had for being in front of people. “Charmed, I’m sure.”
Charlie happily walked over to Kit and looped her arm with hers, bouncing on her heels excitedly as Alastor looked down to Mimzy. He ignored the daggers Lucifer was glaring in his direction as he addressed his old friend.
“As much as I’d love to catch up, Charlie and I have a tour to continue.” Alastor explained.
Lucifer took the opportunity to try and get rid of the Radio Demon, grabbing Charlie by shoulders with a grin and starting to push her in a direction that was nowhere near Alastor. Kit was dragged by extension as Charlie still had a hold of her. “I’m sure Charlie can handle showing me around!”
Alastor misted once more and reformed in front of them, much to Lucifer’s dismay. The Devil frowned as Alastor grabbed Charlie from him and pushed her in the other direction, Kit once again being dragged the other direction. If it weren’t for her impeccable balance, the Paladin would’ve fallen long ago.
“Nonsense!” Alastor proclaimed proudly. “We started the hotel together, and we’ll show it off together.”
After pushing her a few feet from her father, Alastor let the girl go and Charlie clutched Kit’s arm for stability as she regained her composure.
“Right, Charlie?” Alastor leaned forward and smugly glanced at Lucifer as he smiled fondly at Charlie.
“Oh, right.” Charlie nodded and motioned for Vaggie to follow them as she directed her father towards the grand staircase, still clutching onto Kit’s arm and dragging her along.
Alastor turned back to Mimzy and said, “Why don’t you let the others help you settle in, and I’ll be back before you know it!”
Mimzy blinked up at him as he turned around to catch up to the tour group before she spun around to smile at the hotel residents chilling at the bar, tilting her head and throwing her short hair over her shoulder.
“So, where can a girl get a drink around here?” Mimzy asked as she sauntered over to the glowing green bar.
Husk grunted as she sat herself on the barstool directly behind him. He really was just trying to busy himself with cleaning the glasses so he didn’t need to worry about entertaining her.
She had other plans though as she leaned against the bar, her breasts resting on the countertop. She smirked evilly as she taunted him. “My, my, is that Husker? Alastor still has you slinging hooch for him, I see.”
Husk turned to face her, unamused with his arms crossed. He narrowed his eyes, thick red brows furrowed in agitation as she snorted and laughed at his own expense.
“Classic!” She chuckled. “How ya been, fur-ball?”
“Good,” Husk flashed her a golden smile before his entire face turned sour and he scowled at her, “Until five minutes ago.”
“Oh, don’t tell me you’re not happy to see me. You might hurt my feelings!” Mimzy giggled and waved him off, in which he just rolled his eyes. She then spotted another cat-like demon scowling at her with his void eyes. Mimzy turned to face Kumi as he leaned against the bar on the farthest side, where Angel and Pentious stood beside him, “Kumi, is that you? I thought you were working with Rosie now!”
Kumi cringed and set his drink down, his usual grin gone as he locked his gaze onto the offending intruder. “First of all, it’s ‘Akuma’ to you. Second of all, when Al came back, I went back to him. Rosie knew that. I was just helping her out while Al was on his… whatever he was doing.”
Mimzy hummed and clicked her tongue, giving him a teasing glare. “You sure it wasn’t for the hope that Alastor would start stickin’ ya good after seven years?”
Angel spat out his drink and started to cough as Kumi’s face flushed. Husk gave the other cat demon a sympathetic look as Angel cleared his throat and roughly grabbed Kumi by the shoulders and spun him around on the stool. Angel got in his face with pure shock.
“You dicked Alastor?!” Angel asked in utter disbelief and Kumi stared at him with wide eyes. “I thought he was asexual! The man doesn’t have a sexual bone in his body!”
Kumi wriggled out of Angel’s grasp, not expecting his former sex life to be brought up at that moment, but with a shit stirrer like Mimzy, it was inevitable. “Chill!”
“Chill?!” Angel gasped as Pentious narrowly dodged his flailing arms as the spider demon dramatically extended his arms and looked upwards as if looking to Heaven. “All this time, I thought he was a virgin! A prude, but he’s not only the opposite of that - he’s fucking gay?!”
Kumi glared over at Mimzy in anger as Niffty bounced around the floor in front of them, snatching up any bugs unfortunate enough to be in her vicinity. He pushed Angel gently back and said, “Al is ace. We just… he’s just on the demisexual part of the ace spectrum and it hasn’t happened since he’s gotten back from his seven year vacay.”
“Oh,” Mimzy snickered and jabbed a finger towards Kumi. “But that’s why you went back to him, huh? You have a crush on dear old Alastor.”
Kumi blushed and bared his sharp, cannibal-styled teeth. “You need to watch your mouth, Mimzy…”
Angel let out a hefty sigh and grabbed the martini Husk had just finished preparing for him. “Whoa… I just need a minute…”
The flerkin demon rolled his black eyes and heaved a frustrated sigh. “It’s not a big deal.”
Pentious, who was utterly uncomfortable, stared in pure horror as Angel put an arm around Kumi’s shoulders and asked in all seriousness, “What was it like? Is it big?”
Kumi shook his head in disbelief and said, “Bro, I’m a whore, but Alastor is my boss! I ain’t gonna go around and start talking about how he is in the sack!”
“Was it like casual boss and secretary fuckin’?” Angel asked curiously, watching Kumi’s face redden further. He’d never seen the flerkin demon so flustered. He was typically one of the first ones to be the most sexually confident. “Or did he seem to enjoy it? Was it just to relieve stress? Oh, did you have feelings for him?”
Kumi’s cat ears flattened against his head and he held up his hands in surrender, sighing, “What is or was between Al and I is our business, okay? Damn, bruh.”
Mimzy snorted and raised a brow. “Oh, Kumi definitely had more than just a sexual attraction. Unrequited, though. Shame.”
She clicked her tongue mockingly and earned a glowering scowl from Kumi as Angel put two and two together.
“Hey, I might be overly curious, but did ya’ not hear him?” Angel gestured with his thumb towards Kumi, who now looked about ready to run off and hide. “Dude doesn’t wanna talk about it. If he ain’t okay talkin’ about it, then we don’t.”
Angel was just well intentioned. It was understandable why he’d be so curious and shocked that Alastor had at one point banged his male secretary when he came off as the most completely asexual man he’s ever met. But there was a line that shouldn’t be crossed. The moment Kumi expressed his discomfort and insistence on keeping it private, that’s when it needed to stop.
Mimzy rolled her eyes and dropped the conversation, looking to Niffty instead and changing tactics. “Hey, Niffty, whatcha’ been up to, girlie?”
Niffty stopped her onslaught on the demonic roaches and gave Mimzy her attention, peering up at her sweetly as she said in the most innocent tone, “Fighting bugs!”
As she said that, Mimzy spotted a roach scuttling by on the floor and she arched a thinly plucked brow. “And, uh, how’s that going for you?”
“They’re winning,” Niffty said and then put her sewing needle away, pulling out her beloved steak knife instead and grinning maliciously at the offending little creatures crawling along the floors. “But not for long!”
“Uh-huh…” Mimzy nodded and nearly jumped as Husk slid a glass of her favorite whiskey towards her. She took the glass gratefully and smirked at him. “Thanks, Pussy cat.”
Husk grumbled and started to walk off. “Oh, fuck you.”
As Mimzy took a sip of her drink, Husk slipped away without being noticed as Angel leaned against the countertop and looked down at Mimzy with Pentious trailing behind him. The two were now trying to keep her attention off of Kumi, who was still flustered and fuming behind them. The cat demon was pounding down the mixed drink Husk had poured him like it was a shot.
“So uh, you and Alastor are like what?” Angel asked, gesturing to her with a tilted hand. “Friends?”
Mimzy smugly grinned and waved them off. “Well, that’s your word, not mine, but I think it fits.”
Angel and Pentious looked at each other in surprise. Kumi made sense; he worked for Alastor but Mimzy just being a buddy was odd.
Mimzy took offense to their surprise and tilted her head. “Why so surprised?”
“Well, we just didn’t know he had any of those.” Angel explained, “He’s been here a while and is still a big creepy mystery. What’s his deal?”
Kumi let out a groan and stood up, his stool scraping against the glowing plank floors. “And before she gets into the creepy monologue about Al’s rise to power and all that ‘woooooo’ shit, I’m going to my room. Bye, bitches!”
With that, Kumi exited the lobby and made his way upstairs, not willing to put up with Mimzy’s voice for another second as she faced Pentious and Angel and gave them the whole run down of Alastor’s rise to power. The way he manifested in Hell overnight and how no one took him seriously at first, yet he had made ripples and started gathering souls with deals fast. Overlords had started disappearing, their screams being showcased on Alastor’s radio show as he grew in renown.
It was all the same story Kumi had heard before. It wasn’t new information and if he were honest, he wasn’t in the mood to listen to it once more. No, he’d much rather lay in bed and come to terms with the fact that Mimzy had just outed one of his private secrets with Alastor. He knew Angel respected him, but with Mimzy’s loose lips and no care for how he feels, everyone in the hotel would know he and Alastor had fucked on multiple occasions those seven years ago.
Kumi entered his room at the hotel and closed the door shut behind him, rubbing his face tiredly as he flopped onto the bed with a disgruntled groan. He turned his head, dark brown curls getting in his face as he stared at the blank wall in front of him.
When Alastor had returned from his hiatus, Kumi had thought they’d go back to the same old arrangement: Alastor would come to him for sexual release when he got frustrated and Kumi would get the gratifying sensation of being touched by someone he craved so intimately - both physically and emotionally.
But the most they’d ever be was friends with benefits… and it seemed to not even be that anymore.
Kumi curled up on his side, hugging his knees to his chest as his tail coiled around him, his ears flattened against his head as he pouted, feeling a sense of sadness weigh heavily in his chest.
How he had missed Alastor during those seven years. Kumi was an active slut - a man completely comfortable with his sexuality and experimenting with the strange and weird. Yet, when Alastor stormed into his office at the old radio station over ten years ago and asked Kumi to fulfill his request as he trusted Kumi and was comfortable with him…
Kumi was never the same. He stopped sleeping around so much and had nearly gone without any sexual pleasure for the seven years he was gone.
Why hadn’t he initiated their affair again? Was Alastor bored of him after just getting back from… wherever he had been?
Kumi shook his head and closed his eyes. He had been ignoring it; the feeling of rejection as he and Alastor worked together just like it was old times again. Did those nights all those years ago mean nothing to him?
Most likely, Kumi thought and heaved a sigh. Alastor wasn’t exactly emotionally available. And perhaps he had found out he really was just completely asexual - which Kumi would absolutely understand, but it still made his chest hurt in a way he did not like.
For the remainder of the evening, that’s where Kumi stayed, contemplating his choices as he longed for the touch of those sharp claws in his hair and being pinned down while bitten - marked up effortlessly by sharp teeth.

Current Occupation: Security contractor in Hell; CEO of K Security and Head Security of the Hazbin Hotel.
Personality: Responsible for the most part; she’s very easy going and gets along with most people. She's very mellow and hard to get on her bad side unless you've rubbed her the wrong way one too many times or you've done something incredibly heinous to one someone close to her such as Charlie or Angel Dust. She's very controlled in her emotions and has worked hard to practice this control, very rarely losing her cool, but when she does -- and it takes a lot to get to that point -- it's atomic.
Positive traits:
Loving
Independent
Compassionate
Responsible
Protective (Sometimes to a fault)
Negative Traits:
Impulsive
Stubborn
Pessimistic
Languages spoken: Enochian and most Earth languages
Likes: - Earth crystals - Guitar - Writing - Baking - Lucifer - Vaggi(e) - Alastor - Angel - Charlie - Reading - Black Coffee - Bats (She calls them sky puppies) - painting - working on motorcycles or just machinery in general (she likes to figure out how human machines work) - Velvette on most of her days at the Vee Tower - Stolas - Fizzie - Ozzie - Bee - Wrath (it was her first home in Hell) - Speaker of God - Raphael
Dislikes: - Valentino - Vox - Striker - Mammon - Hell’s porn industry -Michael (her ex and former abuser/superior) - Heaven though it's a little more complex than that - Adam - Lute - Lilith (this stems from a series of complex emotions brought on from both things that Charlie and Lucifer have told her and observations she herself has made from Hellborns and Sinners alike) - Wasps - Exorcists - Having her own existence used against her - overly sweet things.
Hobbies: - Collecting Earth crystals - Baking - Writing - Fixing motorcycles - singing - shopping with Fizz - Guitar - Sketching when she has time
Dreams/Goals:
Make Hell a safer place to coexist for Sinners and Hellborn via her K Security company
Prove Heaven's Law and Structure is Flawed and Imperfect
See redemption become reality
Phobia(s): Spheksophobia (fear of wasps), petrophobia (fear of locked in syndrome) which stems from her sisters of battle being petrified in stone as punishment in Heaven.
General Weakness: The main weakness of all Paladins is their limit in magic and this weakening them. A Paladin is required to have an oath with an angel of higher power such as a Seraphim like Michael, Sera, or Lucifer. This gives the Paladin access to whatever fraction of power the "patron" allows the receiver to have and what kind of power they can access! Such as Michael allows his Paladins to access primarily combative magic with healing. This is based on dungeons and dragons Paladin and Warlock features for those of my fellow D&D lovers out there!
Without an oath or an oath that has been broken and finally severed and waned, that Paladin has no magic and cannot use any form of holy magic unless bound by an oath with another angel of higher power. This substantially weakens their power unless they are proficient in melee and martial arts.
Kit's other general weakness that is easily exploited in the correct hands is her innate protectiveness. She is protective to a fault. She will put herself in harms way and will get herself hurt in order to protect another person; even if it fatally wounds her. This stems from the durability of her angel type and the training she had undergone under Michael's care as a Paladin.
Contract(s): Kit has no soul contract in Hell. She has her oath as a Paladin of Michael which she is an oath breaker of since her fall from grace. The oath to the Archangel of Justice when she was first created went as follows: "Uphold the mantle of justice and ensure the protection and safety of human souls and the innocent. Let not one soul fall upon a blade you did not fall upon first." Of course, this meant as a Paladin, she was designed and made to protect human souls. This oath was defiled when Adam had requested Extermination and demanded the Paladins be the ones to train and lead his Exorcists for the first few Exterminations. After all, the souls of Hell had already been judged and did not deserve their blades since they'd already been in their realm!
The oath grants Kit access to a fraction of Michael's magic, utilizing combative magic and healing word. This oath will wane over the course of the fanfiction and eventually, Kit will access to Michael's magic.
The OTHER oath Kit will eventually make after hers with Michael's will be with Lucifer (they will be dating by this point) in which she will become "The Paladin of the Morningstar" (not well received by some in Heaven as you can imagine).
Strengths: Martial Arts and acrobats; weapons handling with specialty in great weapons. Combative magic use.
Weapons: An angelic steel great axe with a handle made from wood carved from the tree of life in the Garden of Eden as if customary for Paladin Weaponry. This allows Paladins to bond with their weapons spiritually and call them to them in flashes of holy light. However, this is not the same type of weapon used by Exorcists!
Fighter or Hider: Fighter. 100% a fighter and won't think twice about it!
Powers: Without an oath and set in the future of the AU, Kit does have her own set of magic ability courtesy of Yvwh after SEVERAL character arcs and development and far into the future. These abilities are still being figured out and balanced as to not make her more powerful than Lu or Sera (for the sake of the power scale as that is important to me in the universe's scaling) as well as with how I've altered Charlie with being a Nephilim and boosted her own powers with what we know! This section will be updated when we know more but for now we will be titling it "Archdevil of Redemption!"
Sibling(s) Twin Sister
Name: Lyra
Status: Alive, current General of the Paladin Army after Kit's fall
Relationship: Strained, distant and antagonistic.
Everything below this point gets into the deep dive of her character more, her design and deeper lore! Be warned that it is a lot and WILL contain dark themes that may be triggering. Anything that is MAJORLY triggering I will put in a different post (such as the extent of Michael and Kit's relationship).
Kit was created to be a Paladin of Michael, living early life in Heaven under him as his General and as his right hand. Leading her sisters in his army, she trained them and attended meetings with Michael in the chambers of the elders which included Sera often times.
Kit, known then as "Kithara," was also regarded highly as Michael's General and his prodigy Paladin. She was the example of an ideal warrior for a guardian angel and thus, Michael and her "fell in love" as he would tell her.
Kit, for the record, at this point had no concept of what love was nor who she was at her core as a person. No idea what her orientation sexually or romantically was.
In this AU, Extermination started a bit earlier than in the show. The deal between Adam and Lilith was only made when Michael pulled the Paladins out of the Exterminations and Adam had no choice but to make a deal with Lilith in order to continue the Extermination with just the Exorcists alone.
Prior to this, with the Paladins ordered to train and lead the Exorcists into the first few Exterminations by Sera (after Adam's insistence), Kithara was the one in charge of training Lute and thus the temporary Lieutenant to Adam's Army. With the Paladins in play, Hell was strong armed into submitting to the Extermination and, unfortunately, both Sinners and Hellborn were not spared from the Extermination. However, only Paladins could traverse to the other rings. Of course, during this time, Lucifer was able to intervene if some Exorcists were to get too comfortable with going after Charlie or other Hellborn; much to Adam's and a few others' dismay.
After Kit's fall and Michael pulls the Paladin's from participation along with Adam's eventual deal with Lilith to prevent her own uprising and intervention, Sera forces Adam to make compromises with Lucifer as a means to keep him from making their jobs more difficult with the threat of returning with the Paladins. Lucifer didn't know at this time that it was an empty threat, of course. Thus, the agreement that Exorcists wouldn't go after Hellborn in return that Lucifer wouldn't intervene with Extermination was made in this AU.
Michael and Kit's Relationship - Toxic
I won't go into TOO much detail on their relationship as it could be very TRIGGERING. I might do a separate post or link a drabble here to give a better look into how Michael and Kit interacted outside of the main fanfiction, but otherwise...
Michael was so impaired by his faith in Heaven and refusing to even question or acknowledge Kit's concerns that he actively neglected her thoughts and feelings a lot. This manifested in many ways. Of course, it's also never a good idea for a superior to become involved in a subordinate!
This neglect turns into resentment over the course of 500 years that turns into physical manifestation and harm and eventually Kit and Michael get into a very toxic cycle with Michael perpetuating it and when Kit attempts to communicate, shutting it down with Heaven's "structure is law."
This comes to a head when Kit finally speaks up and has enough and Michael snaps. Once again, will link a specific drabble about the next bit for context as it is triggering! But Michael hurts her and Kit falls.
After her fall, Michael becomes obsessive with getting her back and righting his wrong, becoming a former shadow of himself... which he already wasn't himself since Lucifer's fall eons ago.
The Fall of a Paladin
Kit's fall happens after one particular Extermination when she meets a specific Sinner named Viol. She had been tense about it for years now, obviously, but seeing her sisters in battle stressed and then watching them wither and decay into themselves had been enough. Then, she say this Sinner willingly sacrifice himself to protect others and she realized she had enough after saving him and deciding she would be a voice for her sisters and herself.
Kit would speak up at a post Extermination meeting with the Paladins that had went, Exorcists, Michael, Sera and Adam. When she speaks up, she nearly causes a full revolution with other Paladins that get the courage to also speak up. This terrifies Sera and makes Michael actually question his faith before it quickly turns to anger while Adam tells Sera she needs to put the Paladins back in line.
In her moment of fear of Hell rather than her concern for the Paladins and her people, Sera orders the petrification of the Paladins revolting. They're too valuable to banish to Hell, but also too valuable to erase. In turning them to stone, Michael pleads with Sera to grant Kithara a pardon with an ultimatum from the High Seraphim to get her "back in line" by the end of the day.
As stated in the Michael and Kit Relationship part, the drabble I'll link up there once posted will have more context on the info that happened there as it will be triggering and will have the proper trigger warnings! I do not play when it comes to that!
Needless to say, Kit chose to jump when she had the chance and escaped the oppression and fell to Hell.
Wrath and Cage Fighting
When Kit fell into the Pride Ring, it had been during the same day as when Lucifer had a meeting with the other Sins at the Morningstar Manor while Lilith had been hosting an event. It was just simply easier that way and Satan had been on his way back through when he came across a broken fallen Paladin.
Satan took Kit under his wing to Wrath with the promise to help her navigate Hell in exchange for her being his enforcer in the illegal cage fighting that went on in the rings. He knew what she was and how durable and volatile her kind could be. Naturally, Kit accepted.
She never lost a cage fight and even took the practice to Pride when she finally moved to the Pride Ring after she and Satan finally parted ways.
After her fall, Kit also struggled immensely with a temper and rage that being around Satan consistently didn't help with. It were as though the culmination of her hurt and the sensation of betrayal from Heaven boiled over and imploded. She indulged in mortal vices in attempt to see if that would help; it didn't. She did discover when smoking cigars that she did have an oral fixation, though!
Over the years, she learns to restrain and regain control of her emotions, but this is something and flares and comes through from time to time again.
Paladin of the Morningstar Oath
I mentioned in basics that Kit makes an oath with Lucifer as a Paladin in order to regain some magic ability. This initially wasn't for her own comfort, but for his. She was completely fine relying on her own physical prowess, yet Lucifer felt concern about her own safety given the events in the fic timeline that occurred following losing her magical power with Michael's oath being severed for good. With becoming a Paladin of The Morningstar, Kit does not have access to full creation magic. She does get access to the ability to portal as Lucifer can and create projectile light as she had once been able to with Michael's magic (but with more flair thank you Luci).
What is K Security?
K Security is the company Kit built from the ground up after she left Wrath and moved to the Pride Ring and into an apartment with the Sinner she had spared on Extermination Day, Viol. While Viol was working up the ranks of becoming an Overlord and chasing his dreams of owning a music studio, Kit worked as his muscle and enforcer to protect his souls from other Overlords and slimy Sinners. This earned her a name as the Music Overlord's Guard Dog.
Kit opened K Security from the comfort of their home after hiring on a few imps that expressed interest in working with her to help Viol protect his studio and then it expanded into a small company working out of another apartment in the same building that Viol helped rent out from the increased amount of money coming in from both his funds and Kit's cash rewards from cage fights.
Then in came the clientale. Started out smaller. Hellborn-owned businesses needing some extra muscle to keep Sinners or other Hellborn from strong arming them out of their own establishments and then soon Viol got big enough to catch the attention of the Vees. Viol at this time was so fame hungry that he didn't miss the chance to merge and join partnership with the Vees, which in turn contracted K Security to their first biggest client: VoxTek.
After VoxTek, K Security would contract out to Carmilla Carmine for easier supply of weaponry for her security guards. Rosie was then in contact with Kit about setting up possible stations around Cannibal Town for her people's assured protection from "unwanted ruckus." During this point, the apartment building that she and Viol lived in would become condemned; Viol moved in with Vox, Vel and Val and Kit purchased the entire apartment complex and remodeled it into K Security as it is now with the top apartment becoming her current residence in Hell.
While making her contacts with the overlords and earning her name with the Sinners, her employees expanded and Satan had been more than willing to keep his end of the deal for her being his enforcer that first year of her life in Hell by only saying good things about her to his fellow Sins (this included Lucifer and Lucifer knew of a 'Kit' but does not put two and two together that the Kit he meets later in present timeline is the same woman nor a fallen angel).
Mammon hires on K Security to be Fizzarolli's security during his performances because of his insane fans. This is how Kit would come to meet Fizz who would become one of her closest friends. And then as Fizz becomes friends with Kit and trusts her, when he and Ozzie start to date, Oz hires K Security at his club as well as his factory. He also invests in Kit's company to help her expand.
Beelzebub and Belphegor also hire K Security (though Bee hires her once for a party and then just becomes friends with her and simply invites her to these parties as a guest).
The Sins are where Kit's connections to the Ars Goetia like Stolas come in and trickle down. Over the years, she builds a rapport and expands in a decade with hard work. I will do a post eventually on the main cast of OCs of Hellborn that run K Security (including the canon characters that work there!)

Summary:
Lilith had been scorned by Heaven's punishment towards her; not just the fall with Lucifer, but her own curse for choosing herself over Adam that Heaven brought down upon her.
Obsessed with leading her own uprising against Heaven and pulling the strings just right, she hosts many galas for Sinners to gather and hear her voice -- to empower... much to Lucifer's dismay as he fights a depressive spiral with his own stress overload and the impending implosion of their strained marriage.

The lights had been bright shining over the gala that the Morningstars had hosted that night. The Manor had been decorated elaborately with crystals and lace that Lilith had picked out so painstakingly the week prior. She had all but shooed Lucifer away when he tried to offer any semblance of input, as was common in any event that the King and Queen hosted.
Lilith planned, coordinated and led while Lucifer stood by her side, smiled and entertained like the supportive husband he had become. The Queen of Hell just thrived so well taking the lead in everything in Hell’s politics that didn’t directly involve the Sins. Sinners, specifically Overlords? That was where the Queen tugged the strings and pulled their subjects into place so well.
The gala had been about unity; Lilith’s idea. Hell’s population had been steadily increasing in the last hundred years and Heaven had shown some increasing unrest after the last few meetings Lucifer had to sit through with Sera regarding it. It had apparently spawned Michael to broach the idea of a new guardian angel, though Lucifer hadn’t the faintest clue what Sera had meant by that in their last briefing. That had been over a year ago and since then, Heaven had made no attempt to properly contact him again aside from letters through the Embassy.
Lilith had always been about unifying Hell against Heaven; creating a strong force against the very utopia that restrained and punished those for their choice in individuality even if vile and debaucherous. Her voice always brought Sinners together and empowered them to be more than the sin they simply gave into – the carnal desires and murderous cravings.
While Lucifer couldn’t bear to look at Sinners and the evil he had wrought, Lilith nurtured it and used events such as that very night to plan and further her movement to an uprising against Heaven with her ‘children’ who would follow her without question.
And Lucifer? Just a shadow in the background to entertain and mask with the Devil’s grin when Sinners got too close or too friendly with him. No Sins were there, no Hellborn, no one he knew nor cared to remember – only Lilith’s followers.
And he was expected to be the poise, smiling, charismatic King of Hell.
Lilith had been graceful as she mingled with Overlords and Sinners she had invited into their ballroom, her beautiful long blond hair flowing around her like a curtain of silk. Lucifer’s heart that had once beat so hard to see the cascade of those locks now wrenched painfully as it had begun to do so over the last few decades.
She laughed, head tilted back as Lucifer sat upon his throne at the back of the room. His claws gripped the armrests of the throne as he watched with his red eyes, forced to smile painfully as his wife leaned into a Sinner. She was intentionally pressing herself against him, glancing over her delicate shoulder and towards Lucifer with her sharp lilac eyes to see if her husband was looking before leaning in to whisper something in the mortal’s ear.
Lucifer’s smile cracked just a hair.
Deep breath.
If he expressed any discomfort; if he showed any hurt or even moved in a way that upset Lilith, there would be hell to pay later… and Lucifer simply did not have the energy to fight… not after the week of court with the Sins he had. Asmodeus had nearly had Mammon’s head twice and Satan had nearly let three unjust executions go forward. Lucifer’s head was still throbbing from that and knew another spat with Lilith would just send him down another spiral he couldn’t handle.
He was already struggling to keep his head above water with the paperwork as it was… and the rubber ducks were multiplying in his office again.
Another one of Lilith’s melodic laughs made Lucifer’s eye twitch as she spun around the ballroom, speaking to another woman about something rather important. Lilith’s dress was stunning – a gown Lucifer had made for her himself of sheer lace with meticulously placed black gemstones woven into the design so the lights would catch and make her glow like an ethereal ghost.
Lucifer thought she was beyond beautiful and yet, it left his stomach hollow and his head aching. His heart no longer fluttered the way it once did.
For a brief moment, Lilith left the ballroom floor as her guests chattered and danced to the music, her long legs moving one in front of the other as her heels clicked against the marble. Lucifer almost didn’t register that she was walking towards him until the Queen of Hell was nearly looming over his throne.
“Lucifer, my dear~” Lilith purred as she approached the side of his throne and leaned down. She gave him a sickeningly sweet smile and tilted her head as she continued, “Why don’t you come speak to our guests? They are your subjects, my love.”
Here we go… Lucifer thought and swallowed the anxiety in his throat, taking a shaky breath as he looked up at his wife. He didn’t want to talk to the Sinners; he knew he’d fuck it up. Lucifer wasn’t fond of them and he recognized that about himself – resented them in his way. And with that, he knew he would struggle to socialize and as a result, incur the wrath of his wife.
It would tip the dominos of Lucifer’s spiral from a mild depressive episode into a manic party and he knew that.
Tugging at his bowtie, Lucifer cleared his throat and tried to reason with Lilith, “Honey, you know I can’t… don’t socialize well with Sinners… I’m more than happy to talk to them if they come to me, but…”
He trailed off as the soft smile on Lilith’s face fell and her expression twisted into a scowl and a disapproving look. It was like a mother scolding her child… though, with more of a sneer.
Lucifer felt his heart sink as the guilt crept in, the urge to give in strong as Lilith’s eyes narrowed and her lips pressed together firmly.
“Dear,” Lilith’s tone shifted, colder yet still eerily sweet as she quieted her voice for him to hear, “I’m one of them… you love me, do you not?”
“Lilith, don’t compare yourself to them-”
“If you hate them, then you must hate me just as much.” Lilith stated bluntly before Lucifer could finish, her voice turning flat as she kneeled next to Lucifer’s throne, the party around them completely oblivious to the little marital crack happening just under their noses.
Lucifer’s eyes widened and he straightened in his seat, turning to face his wife more and reaching out to hold her face in his blackened hands, not seeing the way Lilith smirked just a little bit at his reaction. “My love, I could never! I adore you!”
“Then you can do this for me?” Lilith reiterated, reaching up to grab Lucifer’s wrists before taking his hands away from her face. She stood, smiled down at him before narrowing her eyes as if reminding him to be mindful of his words and then she spun back towards the main ballroom and gracefully glided back towards the crowd of Sinners awaiting her.
Lucifer watched her go, red eyes wide and heart hammering in his chest as his hands tingled. There was a slight ringing in his ears and a tightening pain in his chest that wouldn’t quite go away. He felt wrong.
After sitting for a moment longer, the Devil’s sharp grin slid into place and Lucifer snapped his fingers. In a puff of red smoke and hellfire, his apple cane appeared in his right hand and he rose from the throne.
Just smile, nod, and keep your answers short and sweet, Lucifer thought as he descended onto the ballroom.
He couldn’t see Lilith anymore, but he could hear her. She was singing with a few other women, cheerful and radiant while others danced to the mesmerizing piano that filled the Manor ballroom. The King’s boots clicked on the marble as he looked around at the guests who all glanced at him curiously; many eager to speak to him but shy to approach the Devil.
None in Hell questioned him. He may not have been as active in the Sinner side of things as Lilith was, but his name was still just as feared. And as Lucifer’s eyes thinned to red slits, he worried about that exact fame and the potential thunder he’d possibly steal from his wife and her movement.
It was why he’d rather just be the ‘supportive hubby’ at events Lilith hosted. He loved her and would rather not get in the way.
As he expected, many Sinners avoided him and simply made him a path. Lucifer internally cringed, suddenly feeling as though he were being scrutinized as part of him wanted to look around and see if Lilith were watching him. The cane tapped the floor as he gripped the apple in his right hand, razor grin sharpening just a fraction as Lucifer tried not to seem bothered by the difficulties of his current task and how the Sinners choosing to avoid him were making him look bad to his wife.
Fortunately, he found an Overlord that was willing to converse with the Devil as Lucifer came across him not even a few feet later. He was a tall man draped in all black and neon green accents; Lucifer had to tilt his head back and look up, the demon skeletal in frame as the man looked down at the King with a rather polite grin.
“Good evening, Your Majesty,” the Overlord greeted with a gentlemanly bow, “I hope thou are having a good time.”
Lucifer blinked, taken aback by the politeness of the man before cracking a more sincere grin. He could work with this.
Meanwhile, Lilith was dancing with another man, twirling with a giggle before being dipped. She was basking in all the attention. The way everyone was feeding into her power and hanging on her every word and thought. She just had to breathe and they dropped to her knees for her.
Her demons, her Sinners, her children.
“Thank you, Darling!” Lilith blew the man a kiss as she took a few steps back and nearly bumped into a group of women who idolized her. “Oh, apologies, my sweetlings!”
She reached out and caressed the women’s hair, cooing over the demonesses as though they were her daughters and they all melted under the Queen’s touch. The circle that had formed around Lilith was a constant – a spotlight of attention she had grown accustomed to.
The Mother of Demons – the Mother of All would lead them by her inspiring voice. She could move them and lure them in by just a giggle alone.
“One day, we will be free from Heaven’s looming threat, my children,” Lilith promised as she always did to those forming the circle around her while sipping the wine she had put out herself and eating the baked goods her staff had worked so hard to prepare.
The Sinners around her leaned in as she brought her hands towards her chest, brows knitted together and lips pursed in a pout. Lilith sighed as she reached out and gestured to them, spinning in a slow circle. Rehearsed, the words fell from her painted black lips like an incantation meant to enchant.
“We must resist, my darlings. We mustn’t let them take away our individuality nor punish us for that! Are we so wrong for our own desires and ideas? No! One day, Heaven will fall, I swear!”
The demons around her all cheered and clapped, Lilith’s head lifting in pride as she felt the influence she had surge through her. She smiled, shining with confidence as she thought to herself about every little moment she’d been waiting to get back at Heaven for. She had wanted nothing more than to drive a knife into Heaven’s foundation and break it apart; watch it fall and crumble in the face of hypocrisy that was the face of the Heavenly Father.
She was getting one step closer everyday with her children; the children that were supposed to be hers in the first place and had been robbed from her against her will.
Just another century or two, and Lilith was confident that Hell would have such a mass number in both Hellborn and Sinners alike that Heaven wouldn’t stand a chance if she were to start a proper uprising. She could almost feel the sun of Eden on her pale skin once more.
Suddenly, the sound of laughter cut through Lilith’s victorious glee. A long breath exhaled, lips parting as she turned her head from the now thinning circle around her and following a few straying followers of hers towards a little gathering crowd across the ballroom. While her fans were still clapping and cheering so loud that she shouldn’t have been able to hear anything over them, she couldn’t help but overhear the joy that has taken away from her cause.
Lucifer.
He was talking to Zestial, one of the oldest Overlords and biggest supporters of Hell’s royal family. The two seemed to be having a pleasant conversation and, as a result, Lucifer was actually being himself. The Devil was laughing; deep and sincere. It had caught the attention of a few other Sinners and, suddenly, a little crowd had formed.
Disruptive.
She told him to talk to their guests, not host his own party when she was working towards her own cause.
And she made sure to let him know that later that night.
The doors to the master bedroom slammed open after the gala and Lucifer flinched, having already been sitting on the edge of the bed in his robe and preparing to turn in for the night after just putting in his hair curlers and adjusting his ducky headband.
Lilith had spent the last hour of the night bidding their guests goodbye and listening to at least half of them telling her how sweet and funny her husband was and it had agitated her. She came storming into their bedroom, dress flaring behind her and hair flying.
“Lucifer!”
He jumped, startled as he had just finished adjusting the fuzzy headband on his head. “Yes, Honey?”
Lilith approached the foot of the bed, her brows furrowed as she crossed her arms. She clenched her jaw and took a deep breath. Closing her eyes, she chose her next words carefully. It was as though the gears in her head rewound and started back up as she exhaled.
“My love,” Lilith started again, softer as she opened her lilac eyes and looked down at Lucifer. She was still so tense, arms crossed and tone filled with a condescension Lucifer knew too well by that point. “I am… appreciative that you did what I asked.”
Lucifer let go of a breath he didn't realize he had been holding. The anxiety had been killing him all night, the chest pain immense and suffocating as he had been waiting for the other shoe to drop and for her to tell him he had done something wrong.
He felt relief then as his shoulders dropped and he smiled a little bit. He had done good. “I’d do anything for you, Lily.”
Lucifer began to pull back the blankets of their massive bed, feeling now like he could properly sleep and actually have a chance at sleeping a full night. His body was starting to tremble from the adrenaline of anxiety leaving his body.
Lilith watched him relax, her eyes narrowing as her lips parted. “But…”
Every muscle in Lucifer’s body went rigid as he settled into bed, red eyes meeting his wife’s. Suddenly, the tightness was back and Lucifer’s breathing turned a bit more shallow.
She then continued, folding her hands behind her back and lifting her chin as though Lucifer were a peasant that she was gazing down upon. “You ruined the gala.”
His mouth opened to speak, tears starting to prick at the corners of his eyes as his brain begged him to say ‘I didn’t do anything’ or ‘I just did what you wanted.’ Lucifer felt like his body was made of lead, the ringing in his ears back and the edges of his vision fuzzy as panic settled in.
Lucifer had failed again. He had done what Lilith asked and still failed her. He couldn’t do what she needed of him.
“Truly, Dear,” Lilith sighed and looked away in disappointment, “I… I needed all the attention on the cause…”
Then, the hollowness consumed and numbed as Lucifer felt the tears in his eyes dry with a few blinks. The ache didn’t leave, but it dulled as he took a pained breath as the episode of spiraling depression Lucifer had been fighting off all week finally claimed him. All energy he had left was sapped; gone. He couldn’t fight anymore.
“I’m sorry, Lily.”
“Don’t call me that right now,” Lilith chastised him, refusing to look his way, “You don’t have the right when you disappoint me, Morningstar.”
“I…” Lucifer cleared his throat and looked down at his blackened hands in his lap. “Yes, Dear…”
She spared a glance at him out of the corner of her eye. “I will be sleeping in the guest room tonight. You need to earn the right to sleep in the same bed as me again.”
“Yes, Dear.”
“I’ll send Clyde to collect some things,” Lilith turned then, briskly walking towards the door before saying once more over her shoulder, “I do hope you learn from this, Lucifer.”
With that said, Lilith drifted out of the bedroom, leaving Lucifer alone to sit in their bed and think. All he could do now was just think. Sleep was going to be unattainable.
It always was when he disappointed Lilith.
