it had been .... a long day at work for sonja. after working two doubles in a row, & then a morning shift, she was, metaphorically, dead. she’d accepted luka’s offer for a foot rub ; thinking nothing of it, or any implications it may have. it was just two friends, hanging out & watching sports. with the added relaxtion of a foot rub, courtesy of luka & his kindness. the brunette climbed out of the cab she’d taken to the apartment, walking up to the door & entering, waving a casual hello to the doorman as she pressed the elevator button. she knocked on luka’s door not long after stepping off the elevator, twiddling her thumbs as she waited.

‘ it does sound amazing, yeah ? that is, once you block out all the possibilities of destruction and all that. i’m a little bit of both, actually. but i’m not a fan of any of that star wars stuff, if that’s what you’re thinking. tell your cousin al to hit me up !! ’ 

‘ nah, even the destruction seems okay. i’d be pretty accepting of it, to be honest. you’re not a star wars fan ? i’m not sure we can be friends .... oh, i will. he’s great, you’ll love him. ’

“ sadly, i don’t think i could pull off the red wig. being ronald mcdonald sounds like too much work, too much makeup, and too much yellow. maybe i’ll be ronald mcdonald 2.0, a much more sleek and risqué ronald–yeah. that’d definitely roll in the crowds, and then i’d get rich, famous, and recognized–and once that happens, you can get your measly little footnote in my acceptance speeches. i hope you’re ready. “ 

‘ nah, i totally think you could pull it off. after all, you know what they say ; gingers have no souls ! you’re halfway there. sleek and risque ? what, you’re going to dress up like a male stripper & parade around the local mcdonalds ? oh, you’d definitely get famous ; probably on youtube, though. or twitter ! have we got the next ‘alex from target’ in the making ? ’

“ i mean i can’t remember. it’s been a while, but there has to be one. “

‘ probably not. i have a tendency to be right. ’

‘ sonja ! don’t tell me this now, i’m suddenly wishing i had some sort of time travel device to take me back. next time i work late we’re doing this. no getting out of it either ! listen, i’m not really good with dating guys. i’ve mostly had my occasional hookups at the bar, i’m not good at the step that typically comes before that. you know – actually getting to know them.’ 

‘ well ! now we both know for the future. we’ll make it a date, or something ! okay, true, but still ; there’s always the trying. i’ll even help you ! although, i guess my dating track record is a bit of a joke. but either way, you’ve got more experience than me, kam. ’

“my dream since i was a little girl. oh – i’m great at planning. i just seem to have a little problem executing those plans exactly how they were meant to go. but i guess that everyone’s problem. except yours.. you just can’t plan.” 

‘ just like a marina dimandis song. we’d make the perfect team, to be honest ; you’re the planner, i execute. it’d go swimmingly. ’

“How do you know you’re great at them? Have you pulled any?”

‘ well, i tried one once ; ended poorly. i’ve tried to stand clear since then. ’
