“Fate” the drinking Tarot card game
I’m having a gathering with some witchy friends at the end of the month and I was feeling artsy and wanted to make my own deck of playing cards. I was contemplating playing card games when I basically let my day dreaming take me away into the land of bad ideas and came up with a drinking card game that’s basically a bit of Uno and Kings and Disaster mixed together but you can play this with Tarot Cards.
Everyone gets dealt seven cards. The remainder gets put away in it’s stack.
Like Uno you want to get rid of cards. All Minor Arcana cards don’t mean anything.
You want to match them with the previous card on the pile. You can stack cards by their numbers but not by their suits. (So if you have three 2’s from different suits you can stack them but you cannot stack a bunch of cards by the same suit).
Major Arcana cards is where the rules come in. You can only put out one at a time.
Fool- Changes the suit that’s being played to the card user’s preference.
High Priestess- Question Master
The way I like to play Question Master is that the person who draws it is the question master until the card is used again. This means the person can ask someone a question anytime, as nonchalantly as possible (such as: What time is it?/Did you like the drink I made?) and if they answer you, even if you ask a serious question, they have to drink. The person does not have to ask a question as soon as they use the card.
Emperor/Empress- Make a rule.
Rules can stack
Lovers - Pick a date.
Everytime you drink due to a penalty they will have to drink with you.
Strength- Everyone draws 3 from the stack.
Wheel of Fortune- pick someone to drink
Hanged Man- skip next person’s turn
Temperance- Take all the cards from the discard pile, shuffle them, and add them to the bottom of the stack.
Tower- Everyone draws equally from the discard pile and drinks.
Judgement- bring someone who’s out in to the game to play. Or pick someone to draw 5 cards if no one is out yet.
Magician- dare someone a challenge or make them drink.
Hierophant- Choose a suit to play with and put down one card. This will end when someone does not have a card from that suit. They will have to drink (once for penalty) and draw from the stack until they get a card from the suit to play and then it will end.
Chariot- Everyone puts both hands on the ground. Whomever does this last has to drink.
Justice- take a card from everyone
Death- Reverse Order. (So clockwise is now counter clockwise and vise versa)
Devil- everyone draws 8 from the stack and drinks
Moon- Truth telling or Never have I ever.
If never have I ever, everyone has to hold up three fingers. When each person goes around saying what they have never done, if someone has done it they will have to put down a finger. The first one to put down all three fingers has to drink.
Sun- Everyone points up. Whomever does it last has to drink.
Star- get rid of an extra card with this one.
If you have any ideas of what other cards rules should be feel free to add. I always like playing a card drinking game to get a party started with early comers when waiting for more people to arrive. I guess if drinking is not your thing instead of drink penalty then draw a card.
