Jacqui, 29: ”I’m wearing two thrifted slip skirts layered, a Heaven by Marc Jacobs polo, thrifted unnamed vest, and thrifted Clarks boots. I’m inspired by the characters in Rohmer films, effortless style using what I have ,and throwing combinations together until it feels new.”

Julia, 33: “My jersey is from eBay, socks are Nike, both I cut myself. Shorts are Y-3 and flip flops are from Margiela sample sale last summer. Style to me is balance. I love comfort and the balance of making comfort feel final, or polished. I love function, like utility and sport, and balancing that with touches of softness.”

“I’m honestly wearing a raw piece of red orange fabric I got at the garment district back in march as a top lolll, the shorts are unbranded second hand from Beacon’s Closet, same with the necklace, headscarf, and the shoes. The bag is Diane Gail, second hand from Depop, made of South African springbok, the beaded bracelet was a gift, the horn bangle I got in Senegal, the cuff is from Etsy and so is the silver bangle.”

I wanted this look to try and translate my ceramic style by choosing an earthen palette and layering assorted patterns in a way that gives a new context some of the garments. I’m wearing an assortment of all things thrifted. A long skirt in the same style my grandmother always wore. A black scarf layered over it as a mini skirt. A soft brown textured vest. A sheer beige scarf with a ring my friend made, containing an impression of my dog’s claw in it. Goggles I found on the bike path near my apartment.”
