I keep seeing all this rick and morty discourse and I feel like… season 9 is the best season? the animation goes crazy and it feels like the writers are having fun writing the show which makes it more enjoyable to watch. I appreciate you having the energy to explain to the dummies

A lot of y'all would be happier watching Rick and Morty if y'all engaged with the absurdity of the show rather than looking for genuine moral/life lessons. Morty is not a real 14 year old. He is a tool to tell a story. If you actually met the show on its terms you'd notice how he is not a hapless child but a tool living years worth of experiences while pererually being 14 years old and constantly being soft reset to be used in another episode where he never learned anything from his previous adventure but also has sometimes when it suits the narrative. And so is everyone else. He is not real. They're all just abuse goblins for our amusement. You don't get to moralize how ppl "treat" Morty bc he is not real. Seeing blame in his actions doesn't make you a bad person. Bc he is not real neither is the 22 minute story he was used in. His actions are predestined bc they are written and curated. Pls stop having these long winded debates about whoever is more evil for blaming Morty or not. I'm not saying don't engage with the themes. But it's a little disingenuous to absolve Morty of his actions just bc he is perpetually 14 when we have the explicit context of him saying he knew what he was doing regardless of where he learned it from. Especially bc we have the context of YEARS of life experiences. Morty is fake. His actions aren't the actions of a real person especially not a real 14 year old.
