I've been hesitating to post this article for the past few weeks, but it's a topic that is important to me, and a problem I see A LOT in media. We've got to start thinking about the choices we're making as writers.

This is not about finding a list of words that make us Good People or words that make us Bad People. It's not about censoring ourselves. It's not about being PC.

It's about making conscious choices and being aware of the impact of those choices. It's about being responsible for the work we're creating.

WAVEMEN POST! Sometimes there's a lot of back-and-forth between me and the artist on a page. Other times, my response is just "THIS IS GENIUS, MAKE IT SO." In this case, I had a few suggestions.

Collaborating with an artist is a new and wonderful experience. It let's me focus on the drama & storytelling, specifically, in an entirely different way. And each artist brings their own unique voice to the project. I’m really enjoying the entire process.

WAVEMEN POST! I love how much drama and storytelling Jonas brings to even the thumbnails. These were two options that he sent me for one of our pages (page 8, I think?). We love collaborating with our artists and giving them the freedom to make suggestions, so sometimes we'll get thumbnails for several different options to look at.

This shot is of Momotaro and his team of "Wavefriends" (gotta credit Jonas for that name as well. Also used in our correspondence: "Wavepeeps," "Wavehomies" and "Wavewaves"...this is only one of the MANY reasons I love working with him) as they're about to start their main assault on Oni Island. Can you guess which one we chose?

I was given an assignment to make a comic based on an interview.

The person I interviewed was kind enough to tell me about a miscarriage they had, but wished to remain anonymous. Since the person was a fan of a previous comic I posted I re-used the creatures from there inplace of their likeness.
