My opinion will probably be unpopular. I think in current Emmerdale, robron are actually one of the stronger points going. I like them as a united front, a unit, no internal struggles between them, no lying, one strong front. I really enjoy that, and overall, I'm loving the robron content we're getting. It's not enough, but it's not bad.

My biggest faux pas so far is giving them the farmhouse. I don't want them there, I don't believe they should be there. They haven't done nearly enough groundwork with the "Robert wants to be a farmer" line of thinking. Don't get me wrong, I'm prepared to believe after prison Robert could have changed his mind, appreciating the wide open spaces, but that's a fandom headcanon. On screen? Nope. Not even close to enough to be convincing.

Butlers isn't theirs. It'll never be theirs. The Mill (proper, or orange flat) that's theirs. That's their home and will always belong to them. I didn't like the farmhouse idea when it was originally confirmed, and having watched a couple of months on screen, I like it even less. (Though I do wonder if some of the reason is to close sets for financial reasons. As Aaron's flat and Vic's flat are both empty and never seen now.)

Aaron won't take his shirt off when they're intimate. The first time, Robert didn't think much of it, it'd been frantic, desperate, and he still had some of his own clothes hanging onto his body by the end of it. But it's now a repeated pattern, Aaron just refuses to take his shirt off. It's not the sex, that's as explosive as ever, but Robert's worrying.

One night in bed, Robert's fingers toy with the hem of Aaron's black T shirt, and Aaron shrugs away. "What is it?" Robert asks.

"Nothing." Robert rolls his eyes. That lie never works now, they know each other too well.

"Are you... hurting yourself again?" Aaron frowns, like the thought hadn't even crossed his mind which makes something inside Robert unclench. It's not that, then.

"No."

"So...?"

"I'm... fat," Aaron said, looking away from him. "I've put weight on and you last knew me when I was what. Twenty seven? I'm bigger now, and I..." He sighed dramatically. "Insecure, I guess." He flushed pink under his beard.

I've been doing a lot of overtime at work, so I don't really have anything new, but I'll share a bit from my self indulgent robron snooker au. _____

“Why are we here?” Aaron asked. The arena felt almost spooky, minimal lights, gloomy in the darkness, with two green tables being the focus.

“World champions prerogative,” Robert said. He turned and sat on the table, swinging his feet playfully. Aaron was horrified.

“You can’t do that!” he said. “They’re playing on these tables tomorrow.”

“Oh, for God’s sake, relax,” Robert said. “They’re re-covering them in the morning, I’m not doing any damage.” Aaron still looked hesitant. “Live a little.”

“You’re telling me you’ve not had sex on a snooker table before?” Aaron said in disbelief.

“Of course I have,” Robert said. “Not a world championship table, though. Not with you either.” He spread his thighs in invitation. Aaron couldn’t resist and he moved himself into the space, his hand pressed against the notches of Robert’s spine. They were close, entangled and Robert’s thighs tightened around his body.

“This is a really stupid idea,” Aaron said.
