let’s all be very real here: tony’s best and brightest smile in the entire mcu to date was in im3 when he heard rhodey’s password was WARMACHINEROX holy shit he loves rhodey so much i’m going to cry

#I feel like 800 emotions about this look#like I don’t even like it but I feel emotions about it#tony stark#mcu#favorite movie#oh boy here we go fuck#it’s just… the Merchant of Death aesthetic i guess? dark hair super pulled back; red sunglasses deep red shirt black jacket#in the comics he has other public monikers going on; like Handsome Devil and Infidel Architect of Hell Itself (hah)#so there’s this like… dark prince/fallen angel thing surrounding his image… like people sense an inner darkness in him#and that’s fetishized/glamorized (see: IM2 where everyone seems to treat Tony’s glaringly obvious self-destruction as entertainment)#and tony goes with it; probably to appeal to people; he has this whole public aesthetic going on#that’s so vastly different from how he publicly dresses and carries himself publicly after captivity#the first thing he does after coming back at the press conference is asking people to sit down; he shares something real about#him and his dad and his experience; there’s a measure of candor to the way he presented himself#that really wasn’t there before. i also remember that deleted scene where he was monologuing about how he’d never been comfortable#with his reputation#idk i think about this a lot… about people/the media commodifying tony’s pain and tony making his pain into an aesthetic because he’s#nothing if not marketing at that point; that whole vicious circle#when really. he’d much rather be interrupted at the table by kids wanting him to sign a drawing#and i’m so glad he got to that!! i love him pls  (via @knightinironarmor)
