i have so many indescribable feelings about the Hadestown proshot, and i'll probably make a whole rambling analysis post about it at some point, but i think what i kept coming back to the entire time i was watching it was how deeply i love that show not only for the show and the artistry and everything it entails, but because it was so incredibly formative for me at a very specific time in my life, and the impact of the people i shared that love and that time with are still carried in my heart to this day
when i watched the show last night, it wasn't just me now watching it in a movie theater. it was me watching it in the Walter Kerr, escaping daily life for a moment. it was me listening to it on my bedroom floor during lockdown, enraptured for the umpteenth time. it was me playing it over and over as i wrote fic in the wee hours of the morning, or read others' amazing stories when i should have long been asleep
and most importantly, it was the wild, weird, amazing little community that was my true first fandom here on tumblr. i watched the proshot and thought about the art and the writing and the analysis and the music and the beautiful friends i made and cherished and shared it with
and though we may be parted, some of us, by life and other fandoms and years of growth in between, please know i still love you, and i miss you, and i wish you so much love and life and happiness. i wish you the chance to tell your stories over and over again. i wish you beautiful music and catharsis and community
to jo @ratcarney and @casukaga and payton and @meetthefatess, to all the others whose names or usernames i may have lost in the shuffle of time, and especially to @joyfulsongbird, i am better for having known you and shared a love of this show with you once upon a time❤️
