Met on Set: A GentleBrava Actor AU Chapter 1: When Tobita met Aiba
“Order for Tobita Danjuro!”
Tobita grabbed his breakfast sandwich and black coffee and headed off to Bones Studio.
Strolling to the studio, he ran scenarios in his head of what to do before shooting his new gig on one of the hottest series in the past couple of years, “My Hero Academia”.
Looking ahead, he noticed the petite redhead in front of him. His face beaming and his whole body feeling lighter somehow.
“Aiba-san!” He called out to her, hurrying his steps.
Aiba turned around and a smile instantly broke out across her face.
“Tobita-san! Good morning!” she responded.
“Are you ready for today’s shoot?” He asked, walking alongside her.
“Yeah, yeah…” Aiba answered hesitantly. “Always a little nervous being on camera, but really hoping to do a good job.”
“You will.” Tobita assured her. “If our callback has anything to say about it, WE are gonna do great.”
Aiba beamed at her costar’s encouraging words as she recalled the first day they met.
On their first day of shooting, Aiba had been pacing on the side of the set, studying her lines in her new costume.
That’s when she noticed a tall grey-haired man leaning against the same side of the set as her, though just as engrossed in his lines as her.
Aiba gave a quick glance at the man and thought she had recognized him from somewhere.
Tobita felt her gaze and turned to catch her staring before giving a quick half smile in response, leaving Aiba to quickly blush and turn away in awkwardness.
Tobita chuckled at the reaction.
“Hi there.” He waved.
Aiba shyly waved back.
“Are you the one playing…” Tobita started before looking at his script. “…La Brava?”
“I am!” Aiba responded. “My name is Manami Aiba” she said, extending her hand.
“Tobita Danjuro.” Tobita replied, reciprocating the handshake.
Tobita… Tobita… Then, it clicked.
“You played Tokunaga Yoshida from “Chamberlain High School!” Aiba exclaimed excitedly, her eyes reflecting stars.

“Uh, yeah, that was me!” Tobita responded, smiling and a little taken back.
Admittedly, he was kinda thrilled that someone knew one of his favorite roles.
“I LOVED that show! I couldn’t stop laughing every time your character tried to avoid getting into vehicles to avoid getting carsick!” Aiba exclaimed, giggling a bit just remembering the show.
“Thanks, I really appreciate that.” Tobita responded. “That was probably the most fun I had on a show.”
“I could tell” Aiba teased, earning a grin and stifled laugh from Tobita.
From there, they started chatting, getting to know each other before they were called on set to start their very first scene…
Cut to the present
“The J-store video should be racking up views but it’s barely being watched! People on the internet have no taste!! Someone as charming as you should go viral!”
“Because my next plan shall surpass all expectations!”
“And cut!”
The production signal rang loud, signaling the end of recording and a much needed reprieve for the duo.
They had been working at least 2 hours nonstop before taking a break.
“Ok, only…” Aiba noted, checking the time while sipping her water. “8 more hours and we are done!”
“Yeah, but I don’t know how many more times I can take flying in the harness” Tobita joked, pointing to the contraption with his own water bottle.
“Oh man, I’m still can’t believe how many times you twirled on those first three takes!” Aiba laughed, clutching her stomach.
“Knock it off…” Tobita mumbled, smirking and giving a slight nudge to Aiba.
Said nudge nearly knocked Aiba over, but thankfully, caught herself before assuring her costar she was okay.
All Tobita could do was roll his eyes, humored by her reaction.
As the rest of the day passed, the shoot went by smoothly and both started towards wardrobe to undress and head home.
Aiba exited the building as night started to appear, checking her phone and engrossed in looking at a weather report or any missed messages.
“Don’t see any messages from Mom.” She mumbled to herself. “Maybe the weather is dying down back home…”
“Aiba! Hey, Aiba!”
Aiba suddenly looked up, just in time to see Tobita standing in front of her and waving his hand in front of her face.
“Hey!” she replied. “I’m sorry, how long were you calling me?”
“A while.” He told her. “Listen, I don’t know if you have any plans, but I was wondering if you wanted to get something to eat?”
Aiba was surprised that he wanted to hang out since they already had a full day, but who could turn down food?
“Sure!” Aiba exclaimed. “I don’t have any plans. I would love to go out with you!”
Then, she caught what she said.
“I mean-“ she backtracked. “I would love to go eat out. S-sounds good.”
“Cool.” He smiled and led her to his car.
Aiba blew a sigh of relief. Glad he didn’t catch that. She thought to herself.
Man, she is so cute. Tobita thought to himself.
